Name That Drama: Chronic proposals and compliment allergies

Ready for another round of drama-sleuthing? Help out your fellow Beanies or use this form to send in your own questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.

  1. Selective fainting

A girl is meeting up a boy she’s secretly marrying. When they get to the store, her mom is also there. The boy faints to distract Mom but Mom orders the girl to perform CPR/kiss the boy. When it doesn’t work, Mom pushes the girl aside. That’s when the boy wakes up.

  2. Editor ♥ writer

Years ago (over 12), I watched a drama about an anime artist and his three brothers. They lived in a high rise building. A female editor was assigned to work with them. She eventually fell in love with the most difficult brother, who I think was the anime writer. I’d love to watch the drama again, but have no idea who was in it or what it’s called?

  3. Is it available in the Playstore?

Dear Community, I’ve been trying to remember the name of a drama/movie (?) in which a mysterious phone app fulfills wishes in exchange for future acts. An office worker gets sucked into it–first a kiss, then money, and ultimately way more than he bargained for. Google was no help. My hope is that someone here knows. I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask, but I’ve run out of ideas. Title, anyone, please?

  4. Being nice sucks

I remember this show where the husband is super nice and understanding. Then they fight. The husband says he hates being called nice because it makes him feel guilty. After they make up, the wife compliments the husband by calling him the worst guy ever.

  5. The proposal expert

All I remember about this drama is the second lead guy was a chaebol and kept proposing to the lead girl. She kept saying no until he proposed in a theme park I think and the ring was in a teddy bear? Or stuffed frog. But in the end, they got divorced and lead girl meets lead guy.

Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

#1 sounds like the Filipino movie Can't Help Falling In Love. Except the couple is already secretly married and trying to dissolve the marriage with no one knowing.

#2 made me smile, because of course she falls for the most difficult brother. And of course I want to watch that.

Of course I want to watch #2 as well 😂😂😂. Difficult men romances are my kryptonite. I don’t know what that says about me 🤷‍♀️

I think you're right about #1, or at least I thought of the same one.
And same for #2.

Every time Name that Drama is posted, I hope and hope that I'll know at least one. But my apparently limited drama knowledge always fails me.

And once again, I want to watch a drama with the title @mary has made. Chronic Proposal sounds like a heart wrenching melo with a twist, while Compliment Allergies sounds like a fun tropey romcom.

#2 almost sounds like Flower Boy Next Door. Some details are off though so it's probably something else...

Yeah the details are making me doubt FBND :D Didn’t Seulgi end with the sweeter brother? Was he even a brother? Weren’t they just a cartoonist and his assistant? Plus I can’t believe it’s 12 years ago. :O Please tell me it’s not (too lazy to google). I feel like a dramasaurus now.

They figured it out below. It's a j-dorama. :)

Yeah it's not old enough and they were just roommates that worked together. It's probably more "well if you liked that show try FBND" which isn't helpful I suppose lol

That's what I thought of right away too! First time I so clearly recognized a prompt! It was one of my favorite dramas so I've rewatched it multiple times. The four brothers collectively made up a manga artist (they each had separate roles but the older brother was involved in creating the story). Definitely recommend it for others as well!

Really? I got a mysterious, Liar Game vibe from it! XD Or maybe that's what you mean. That Liar Game is cheesy. Cos Kang Do-young was cheesetastic tbh...

3 really reminds me of that Emma Roberts movie trailer I watch for some reason.

Nerve or something?

I don't think it's Nerve - it's a female lead and she ends up joining this online social game where people get dared to perform progressively more extreme dares for money. It doesn't start with a kiss and the online game doesn't fulfill wishes. It's a bit of a crackfic! movie if anybody is into that - I enjoyed it :)

starts with a kiss.. and then has 3 or 4 guys fighting in love with her ..

Was it Matrimonial Chaos? I haven't seen it but the scene sounds familiar. There were some Beanies putting up gifs when it aired and wondering if that is how I saw it.

Hmm, as I though the ML there too nice and much too unappreciated by everybody... this scene doesn't seem to belong to it in my mind. But I don't really remember.

Oh I watched that too! It does sound like something either of the main couples would say... I just can’t remember this exact scene.

#5 seems like my love from another star. Park hae jin was a chaebol n jun ji hyun's friend and was persistent in pursuing her. When he eventually takes her to a theme park n proposes on the ferris wheel she turns him down for good.

I wish someone could name the drama that is my life. The plot goes that you are born and then everything goes wrong. Ring a bell? Can it be "Do you call this life or something II" or maybe "Excuse me, am I on the wrong planet?"

Are you sure #4 is Korean or Asian? Because that exact scene happens in the movie Julie and Julia (starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep).

I literally just watched some episodes of a web drama yesterday that looks a lot like #3 and that was listed on this site (Kim Jae Wook made a small appearance in one episode, this is why it was listed in his profile here): Sweet Temptation, with girls from an idol group ?
It's individual stories, where they are at the bottom of their lives, and suddenly encounter a shop with a phone that contains a magical app which fulfills their most desired wish, but it doesn't work at all as they expect it. The first episode ends with a kiss, the second talks about money and depending on it, and the third one too, with a link to family members added to it. I didn't watch more, but it was kind of interesting. Don't know if it's what you're looking for though :)

Number 2 is a Japanese drama from 2007- The Secret Garden or Himitsu no Hanazono. All four brothers contributed to a manga serial that was published under a female pseudonym.
