Hi Everyone and Happy OT! (Thanks @mary you're more than prompt!)
I've been assisting at a children's retreat which was uplifting, a great learning experience (for both adults and children) and also very tiring. The latter called for lying low and resting. And so, I've rested … by sitting and watching dramas. 😉. Yes, I do multi-task!!! Heh!

The show that took my heart and took me by surprise was The Secret Life of My Secretary. I believe a large part of that heart was smitten by Kim Young Kwang looking smitten by Jin Ki Joo, and I mean both officially on camera and off. I watched their BTS and was gratified by how often he looked at her, and how warm his eyes were. Yup, now I know why fans call for real life pairings of actors who were the OTP of a show.

That reminds me that I'm saddened by the dissolution of the real life pairing of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo. I really liked that couple together. I thought their official statements were appropriate and unemotional, and I do not read any blame hidden in those words.

I was thinking about myself and the times when being together with the spouse was hard. It took time and painful growth and lots of patience, but we always decided to be in for the long haul. In other words, the 'd' word was banned and that certainly helped. It's been a pretty good long haul for a while now.

Other shows: Angel's Mission has me squinting at all things other worldly, and I've finally seen where show or writer is suggesting the analogy to the ballet Giselle lies. We viewers have mooted several possible ways to link the characters with the ballet characters in Giselle, but possibly not for the reasons that show may be suggesting. I'm still waiting for the redemption arc to out itself. There seems to be a lot of folks in this show that need that arc!

Angel is one among probably several other shows that have insufficient motive behind actions in them (let me call it 'Motive-lack' for short). The motive for murder remains unconvincing. I had been hoping that the baddies would get more development by now, but no. Craziness of baddies is the closest I can get to an explanation.

More of the same 'Motive-lack' and crazy baddies are also found in Absolute Boyfriend. At least it does have a little twist that I like. I wish there was a chance to develop the eccentric and possibly mad Diana character. She would probably have been a more worthy antagonist all by herself rather than whats-his-name ex-manager. Her motives are more understandable, since it's in character for her to be sadistic and to punish. Also having her expensive toy stolen is quite a good reason for her intelligent retribution. Ex-manager's reasons for creating mayhem never made much sense to me. Didn't he shoot himself in the foot by antagonising his cash cow?

One Spring Night is gratifyingly not as bad as Pretty Noona, in fact it is good … and it's great that Jung Hae In can play the boyfriend character differently enough that I see no traces of Pretty Noona's Seo Joon Hee. My only offbeat thought about his show is that since it concentrates only on the issue of relationships that are challenging, I start to find it strange that every colleague, friend and family member seems to have nothing else but those challenging relationships in mind, all the time, and with these, the corresponding, neverending concern for the related parties. It's been like this so much so, that it seems characters have absolutely nothing else that they talk about. Even the basketball games are only mentioned in passing. While I guess it's good that show does not waste time on other things, it does get a bit much after a while, and I need to take a walk before coming back for more of the same.

Oh, but it's great that I love the mother here, and I'm trying to be reconciled to the fact that lots of people who are not supposed to be in arranged marriages, still may find themselves forced into marriage!!!

The Wind Blows - I skipped most of the episodes and jumped into Episode 10 where wifey finally finds out what the deal was with the husband. Maybe I can watch from here after all the separation pain is over. Not sure if I like the husband though.

Cdrama The Brightest Star in the Sky - I'm not avidly watching this, but I find I prefer it to My True Friend. Jerk ML is still a jerk after 5 episodes but he seems to be wanting FL's attention, so that should change him (in time). To her credit FL is totally not subservient and is very likable. SLS will be strong with this show since Second ML is lovely.

Could you jump watching The Wind Blows and still get it? I'm considering to do it but I'm not sure. I really want to watch this drama for reason I don't even know why.
I've been considering to pick it up for weeks but too scare what if I end up drop it.

You can. The beginning of each episode is recap of the previous ones before. It is actually pretty smart considering the shows subject matter.

I am enjoying The Wind Blows. The 1st ep did have me a wreck but it did lightened up after that. It is gonna be interesting now that Soo ji knows. And by that just how many people are gonna be complete and total assholes to her for making the decision to come back into his life. I could have just slapped her mother last episode.

I'm enjoying TWB too. It had some stupid plot that woman tried to seduce her own husband to get the divorce in earlier eps, but now she found the truth about her husband and they have to deal with real issues.

0

Yes, it's possible to understand what's happening. I only watched up to the part that Soo Jin was trying to get the divorce. Didn't like that part and got busy, so I stopped. However I knew from the synopsis that they'd be reunited, so I came back actually to Ep 9 onwards ... seems clear enough to me. At the most, I may go back to watch the part about how little Ah Ram came to be. :-)

Hi Everyone! ..... I hope you are all doing well today.

Perfume - Min Jae-hee's husband just needs to go to a place far, far away.

Nokdu Flower - What a miscalculation by Queen Min.

Arthdal Chronicles - Saya going head-to-head with Taealha ..... bring it on!

Angel's Last Mission - Did I miss something or do we not know anything about that lady Nina went to for (dancing?) advice? Who is that lady exactly?

WWW: I've only watched up to episode 7, so I have no idea what happens in 8 yet, but I'm thinking Ta-mi should not have taken Scarlett to that meeting with Ga-kyung.

That's all for now. Everyone take care and have a great Friday!

@korfan,
Re NF. I agree. With Yi-hyun going over to the dark side it is going to have to end badly for him and that is so sad.
Re AC. Again, I agree. I am only half way through episode 8 but the characterization of Saya is quite interesting. (This is my first SJK drama but so far he seems to be nicely handling dual roles.)
Saya is presented in looks anyway in an almost feminine manner but with a strong personality under the soft appearance. I hope it is not until episode 12 (and a cliff hanger) that the two brothers get together.
Also, is that SJK’s actual hair? I kind of liked Eunseom’s Blue Lagoon hair. His look changed once he arrived in Arth.

@marcusnyc20 Regarding Yi-hyun, things do look like they will end badly. At times, though, it seems like it well end badly for everyone in this! I just don't see much happiness coming anyone's way. Truly sad indeed.

"Eunsom's Blue Lagoon hair." ..... Heh! Good description! It is certainly (or was) that particular look, isn't it? Who knows when the two brothers will meet, but I'm looking forward to that and for what happens after that.

I really love the guy who plays Jae-hee's hubby. He was so funny in High School King. I hope he doesn't get too typecast as stuttering no-goodnik comedy relief.

And yes, Saya is slick. Taelha v Tagon or Taelha v Saya? Or Taelha and Saya v Tagon? So many combinations!

@scifiwritir Regarding Jae-hee's husband, I do like the actor playing him also. I've seen him in a couple of roles over the years and he does fine in whatever he's given. It's just in this particular role that he's particularly annoying ..... which I suppose means he's doing quite well in his portrayal of the no-good, cheating hubby.

And oh dear, Saya. Saya may just have been biding his time to get a grand plan rolling into action. We'll see!

I've been pretty lucky with dramas lately. I finished most that I have started, so I want to keep it this way. I hate dropping drama because it makes me feel like I've wasted my time. I'm careful to pick dramas to watch. Now Secret Lyfe of Secretary has finished, which romcom drama should I started to fill the quota. I'm considering Her Private Life or Angel Last Mission, which one is better?

Chief of Staff is really good. It's pretty fast-moving and you have to get to know the various politicians and their aides, opponents, allies. But after you have that down, you'll like it. It's a bit like Misty and WWW and sageuk dramas. You get to know how the assembly works. There are the big villains like the assemblymen but i find myself being mostly peeved with the big mouth aide who is so clueless about the damage he causes Tae-Jun and the sleazy corrupt wannabe new staff member. I fell in love with his acting since "I can hear your voice but they always typecast him as a baddie."

Yoko Kanno worked with Watanabe (the director) on Kids On The Slope. I only listened to the OST since I've already seen the live-action adaptation. You can easily recognize her style.

From the same director but Yoko Kanno not involved, the anime Carole and Tuesday currently airing offers really interesting mixed musical genres.

@outofthisworld
Hahahahrharhar.....this is so true!! We prove this on the daily😀😂😁

1

Mosquitoes follow body scents and carbon dioxide exhales, but also your blood type. A few studies have shown that mosquitoes prefer people with type O blood.

As long ago as 1972, a study published in Nature magazine by Corinne Shear Wood and others showed that Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes preferred biting people with type O blood.

A more recent study, published in 2004, showed the same results using a different species of mosquito, Aedes albopictus.

It's easy to understand how mosquitoes might be attracted to different odors, but how can they tell what blood type a person is? The 2004 study also gave a clue to that.

Some people secrete sugars related to their blood type, and the study published in the July 2004 Journal of Medical Entomology divided the test subjects into groups according to whether they were secreters.

Those who were secreters in blood group O averaged 83.3% mosquito landing rates, while those who were secreters in blood group A averaged only 46.5% landing rates.

Mosquitoes may be able to sense the saccharides that people secrete from the skin, based on different blood types, and use that to select their preferred victims.

So if you're blood type O, are you doomed to be a mosquito magnet? Well, not really.

There are dozens of other things that attract mosquitoes also. Some you can't control, like exhaling carbon dioxide. Others you can, though. It's been shown that drinking just one beer will make you more attractive to mosquitoes, according to a 2002 study in the Journal of the American Mosquito Control Association and the results were confirmed in a 2010 study.

Happy weekend Beanies!

Tomorrow I am trying a new Korean restaurant in our capital city with some of my Korean classmates. It is one of those gatherings that my body dreads, because I already spend 5 days a week in the capital for work and this week also in a heat wave. Needless to say my body wants to catch up on sleep and introvert at home afterwards.

However, my body also never refuses an opportunity for Korean food, and I long to see my classmates again after so long. I do not regret quitting the language classes and continuing learning Korean with my friend, but of course I miss my old classmates a lot. It is one of those events you dread, and yet you already know you will not regret attending after all.

Saturday night has sort of become K-drama, currently Her Private Life, night, and I have ambitions to increase my week(end)ly dose of watching from 1 to 2 episodes. Only time will tell. The rest of the weekend is still a question mark, which usually means introverting, so I am satisfied.

Happy OT Beanies!

I can't believe my car tyre got 'nailed' by an Allen key. It made the most horrible sound when I continued to drive. Had to yank it out and drive 3km to the nearest tyre shop.

When I first heard the sound, I had to pull the car over to the side. I did it as safely as possible but it's weird that what came to mind was how horrible people drive in kdramas. You know, the way they pull very suddenly to the side or when they do an abrupt U-turn? I guess it makes for dramatic driving? Because real driving is boring. Long time ago, in those days when they filmed 'driving the car' scenes, they had to do them in a studio. To simulate the real thing, actors often move their steering in rapid short movements. Who drives like that in real life?

6
10
reply

Required fields are marked *

Whenever I hear weird sounds from any part of the car I get nervous. The allen key must have made a raucous!

It's only after getting this new car of mine that I realised why all cars in shows have lights on all the time... something called 'day lights' that I never had in my old car. The only problem I have with them is that when it's dark, I forget that I still haven't put on the 'real' headlights, and drive off with only the day lights on!!! 😬

And yes, they drive dangerously in dramas. I figure that since the traffic has already been stopped for the filming, they make the most of it by driving dramatically. Not recommended not only for safety reasons, but because of the wear and tear on the car! 😟

Wow, that sounds cool! I hate lining up for U turns because people take forever.

0

There was one time I visited Youido and saw a car make a quick U-turn, drove up the sidewalk (right in front of me! I thought the car was about to run me and my sister over!), and parked slanted in front of an office building entrance. 2 suited guys jumps out and ran into the building. My sister and I jaw dropped. We looked at each other and telepathically scream... kdramas are for real!

GOOOOOD morning Beanies!

I went to Yellowstone last weekend and despite my soft and tender feet getting blisters, it was lovely. Such a beautiful and nearly untouched landscape. We got lucky and saw some really cool geysers go off like Beehive, Daisy and the coolest one, Steamboat (which is the highest geyser in the world). There are some incredible sights there and it was a blast hanging out with my family and cousin (who is visiting from Australia). And despite being away from kdramas for a few days I managed to to go through withdrawl. I kept myself busy with the awe-inspiring sights and I read through 3 books of a new series by one of my favorite authors (Lindsay Buroker).

Just last night I finished watching The Secret Life of My Secretary and I absolutely loved it. The premise itself isn't anything special but all the characters made it fantastic and so far one of my favorite dramas of the year. I was never really into Kim Young-Kwang, I found him ok, but he was prefect as the weird and sincere Do Min-Ik. I also found him SO incredibly attractive in this which I never really did before. I could watch him smiling adorably for a whole drama. Jin Ki-Joo also did a great job as Jung Gal-Hee. She was equally a weirdo but not obnoxious. Some actors can go over the top with a character like this but I think she was spot on. And of course, how can I mention TSLoMS without Verrrrrronica Park. She has been one of my favorite kdrama characters. I don't really know who Kim Jae-Kyung is but I hope she gets all the roles from now on. I think there needs to be a Veronica Park spin-off drama. The whole drama was so adorable and sweet and cute and thankfully didn't have the awful trope of the bitchy secondary female or a love triangle. There was no noble idiot. I also rewatched the last like 10 min. of the drama like 5 times (I wish I was kidding). Highly recommend this drama!

Hi @ndlessjoie Do you live in the States?

My dream is to visit the national parks. I've only been to Yosemite 20 years ago and it was amazing. I remember it was foggy when I first approach the park entrance. The car was hugging a sort of cliff or maybe it's just kind of rock walls on the side. Then suddenly the fog cleared and lo behold, we saw the valley! Awesome!
Yellowstone is my dream destination.

Two things I need to sort out before I can go Yellowstone. I need to travel without the kids because they can only do so during Nov/Dec and I believe Yellowstone is closed from October. Over time, I have grown to really dislike long flights. I'd need to endure over twenty hours in a cramped cabin.

Yes, I'm in the states. Yellowstone is a busy place in the summer, but it often snows until the end of June and begins again by September. I've been lucky with weather visiting in September when there are fewer tourists, but some of the smaller locations are closed then. You really need a car and plenty of time to see all of it. Once the snows really hit, you can't tour the whole park and only a few locations remain open.

If you get serious about it, I can give you advice based on what you want to see and do. My favorite parts of the park are quieter with fewer tourist attractions, but I know the park fairly well. I think lodging in the park is often booked a year in advance during the summer.

Wow! The window period is so short.

I don't like crowds and will avoid as far as possible. Thank you @ndlessjoie for offering advice. I definitely need it but I should first think about what I want to see and do as you've suggested. Right now, it's just on my bucket list without any concrete plan. I'm looking at doing the trip within the next year or so. Looks like advance planning is definitely needed.

1

I highly suggest Yellowstone. I'm lucky and live about 4 hours away by car from it. So I've been a few times. It's so incredibly beautiful and has some phenomenal sights that you cannot see anywhere else. It was very busy when I went last weekend but we managed to find parking everywhere we went (and with an RV!) so it wasn't too bad. It was also surprisingly cold. It had snowed the night before we arrived and remained fairly cool. Which worked out well on the hikes and walks as you warm up pretty quickly.

2

@trinpie

Oh! I am going to suggest this to my husband and move it up my destination list.

2

@trinpie I envy you. I'd be there every summer. I confess that I did work there for a summer during college.

2

@ndlessjoie Oh that would have been an awesome summer! What did you do while you worked there?

1

@trinpie, worked in one of the restaurant/employee kitchens. Not glamorous, but fun and lived in a rustic cabin with a small wood stove.

I've been watching a lot of random dramas these last couple weeks and have gotten into a gay drama binge. Sadly there aren't many out there. But I watched the cdrama Addicted, which was excellent but sadly China banned it and canceled any possibility of a 2nd season 😞 Also watched SOTUS a Thai drama which I loved and the actors did a great job. I watched both HIStory 1 and 2 which are Taiwanese dramas. History 1 had 3 about hour long eps. with different stories and characters. The first 2 were ok but I really loved Obsession. The 2 leads had great chemistry in that one. History 2 had 2 series in it which were both 4 episodes long. The first one was ok but I really liked Crossing the Line. Sadly most of Asia is pretty backwards towards LGBTQ* things so it's hard to find good gay dramas out there. Taiwan and Thailand are the best about them but their dramas aren't always up to the high quality that kdramas, or even cdramas, are. But if anyone has some good recommendations I am eager to find more to watch!

Loved the actors in Addicted! I had no idea Johnny Huang was so tall (6ft 2 inches). And I'll watch Taiwanese gay themed like HIStory to support Taiwan's bravery, even though with such a small budget, the acting, etc., aren't as polished as (ahem) countries with huge budgets. I don't remember which one is Obsession or Crossing the Line, will have to re-check those.
Hotpot tv has a sub-genre for pride month, as well as AsianCrush. I haven't checked these out as Viki has enough for me.
Though not totally gay, I thought the directors of The Guardian did a pretty good job of coming as close as they could to get by the Chinese censors. Just read between the lines...

Ya, the HIStorys aren't the greatest acted for the most part but was still entertaining. I want to see HIStory 3 but I'll wait until it's done being subbed on Viki.

Obsession is the one where the guy dies after being betrayed by his lover and wakes up to before he met his lover. He has a chance to not be with him and tries to stay away from him but they still end up together in the end (my sister said they are actually a RL couple which is why they had such good chemistry).

Crossing the Line is the high school one where the guys are in Volleyball. I found it super cute.

I tried watching Guardian. I got to about episode 20 and had to give it up as I couldn't stand almost all the secondary characters. I liked the main guys and the overall plot but everything else about it was so full of cringe and poorly done.

Speaking of Johnny Huang, I am actually 3 episodes away from finishing another drama he is in called The Love Knot: His Excellency's First Love. I didn't even realize he was in it when I started watching it haha. It's an ok drama, but I've been counting down how many episodes are left for the last about 10 episodes since it started getting draggy. I'm also more invested in the secondary couple then the main couple.

Re Guardian: I'm the queen of fast forward, so there was a lot of that. The last several episodes finally deal with the male leads - wait, two male leads? How unusual (if you know what I'm saying)! There was no other romance of one male lead and a female - hmm.
Ooh, the guys in Obsession are an RL couple? Gotta watch it again!
Re Love Knot: Lots of skipping in that one too, but I find Johnny Huang so fascinating I skipped to the last couple of episodes (wow, I'm really bad about skipping a lot!). Also, the 2nd male lead was extremely popular with fans, more so than Johnny Huang. I've thought about re watching it at some point but it's fairly low on my list. I'd also like to watch Thunder but don't have access to it with Eng subs.

How is everyone? I wasn't going to write anything for the OT today because I'm leaving for a conference and need to get my charts done before I go, but then I remembered this conversation this week and had to share it! But first, some background. I just finished TSLOMS and, unless you’ve not been on the fan wall and living under a dramaless rock, you know there is a certain fish that is a minor plot point. I’ve been binging said drama early this week because hubby has been away on business and also going out to dinner with my daughter, because I don’t cook. One of our favorite restaurants is a Chinese buffet that is pretty authentic and they have these two white arowanas at the front of their store. We see them and note they’re there, but I’ve never really paid attention to them. This day, on the way out, I mentioned them to my daughter.

Me: You know those fish, daughter?

Daughter: Yeah, they’re really cool.

Me: You know what they’re called?

Daughter: Oh yeah, they’re arowanas and they’re supposed to be very auspicious. They’re probably here to bring success to the restaurant.

Me: *Jaw drops* thinking, “Who are you and what have you done with my 11-year-old daughter? Who says 'auspicious?'”

Me: Uh, yeah. You’re right. The show I’m watching has one. They try to resuscitate it and it’s the most ridiculous thing! I’ll have to show you. *falls flat*

Moral of the Story: Read up on everything before talking to your precocious kids.

2nd Moral: Crazy sub-plot put everything into play, and was really the whole plot of TSLOMS.

3rd Moral: Enjoy your weekend, Beanies! I’m taking a road trip!

LOL, I could not believe they were really trying to resuscitate the fish (placed under under a blanket!!! no less) by doing CPR!!! Err... a fish has a heart that goes into cardiac arrest?

I thought it was just a dream sequence or something and was waiting for the sign that it was just a joke, but no! ... now thinking back about how serious they were while doing it, I'm falling off my chair laughing. Thank heavens they didn't try mouth-to-mouth resuscitation as well!

Hello all:
All this house-hunting is so stressing. (Not as stressing as some dramas, though.) We just returned from not seeing a house. The realtor didn't show up. Now am expecting some potential buyers to show up here.

Finished up a short story which was stressing me out so am ready to send it to the anthologist.

Been watching Leila, which is an Hindi dystopian specfic on Netflix. I heartily recommend, but prepare for the grim. The villain pursuing our heroine is so gorgeous that i keep hoping he'll change his evil ways and fall in love with her.

Dramas:
Abyss: okay, you know what? I won't complain. We got a happy ending so why fuss about the dynamics?

Joseon Survival: Finally, the first sageuk in a while where I'm trusting for a happy ending. I kinda wanted the gisaeng dance to be a bit more fusiony, new but old-fashioned. Our villain is so intelligent and acculturated to this old world that he could do major damage.

WWW -- Loving this still, and all the ramifications of internet searching. I feel as if I'm in the hands of a good writer. Totally loving "What's wrong with my sister-in-law?" and am hoping Scarlett and our maknae actor hook up. I do wish Park Mogun would stop being such a wish-fulfillment character for heroine and viewers alike. He's boring me and has no real life other than for our heroine.

Perfume: Finally! I hope finally. I knew i could trust our phobic designer to love someone who wasn't designed to be a model. Please, perfume bottle, run out of perfume!

One Spring Night: Giseok and Jeong-in's dad are downright pitiful..and dangerous. As is Dentist-abuser. How to get out of this Seo-in?

Chief of Staff: Ah, powerful men and the women they throw away! I don't think our hero will totally throw his secret love away. He's got ways of turning stuff around. Fighting, Aide! But don't lose your soul.

Arthdal Chronicles: Taelha reminds me of our thrown-away domino in Aide. Ah men! Use women, then toss them. Her being Saya's "omma" does give her some power. And seriously, does Tagon really feel safe in getting a wife who doesn't know the secret of his mixed blood? Am not sure if i want Taelha with Tagon. She would be a good enemy but hopefully, he'll begin his downward slide and have to crawl his way back up to the top...like a good hero. Saya is so darn needy. Just like his dad. Like father, like son...and like Mother.

Have a great weekend, all.

@scifiwritir I'm with you on the Park Mo-gun assessment. As other Beanies have mentioned, something about him just doesn't sit well with me.

Regarding Perfume, oh my gosh! Were you also hoping the mean girl would've emptied the perfume bottle during the altercation in the restroom?

And Tagon with that marriage. I don't know if he really thought this move through. He might say he did, but I don't know.

Wishing you all the best on the house-hunting!

Yes, yes, yes! Perfume should've been totally emptied.

I tend to like couples to stay together in dramas but right now i could easily see Tagon and Taelha break up. I know their love is epic and all but these powerful types toss over their baby-mamas when the chance for fame arises. Am just waiting to see what his future wife will be like. Is she that young but astute younger girl we saw earlier?

Unless I'm mistaken (and I just may be), I'm under the impression Tagon's new wife is Asa Ron's daughter or right-hand-type of person who assists him when he's communicating with the gods or whatever. Hi everyone!!! TGIF!!! Regarding Song/Song couple. To be honest, after watching few DOS episodes and reading of them from dating to marriage. I am thinking that they are wrong for each other. Now, they are getting divorce. I hope they move on forward and be civil to each other. This is from my experiences. Since, I have couple of friends who is divorced.

Since, I am watching few dramas. I am just gonna post regarding Story of Minglan drama. Due to, I like ZLY and watched most of her dramas except Princess Agents. I dropped that drama halfway. So far, I do not see chemistry of her and her hubby nor with Zhu Li Long. However, I love the ost musics, storyline and cinematography and the costumes and the cast.

It has been finally warm up with cool windy, sunny summer day. However, this means it will be HOT Fall weather again. 😭 I wish we win lottery due to why kids are starving in summer days. 🤦🏻‍♀️😑 I swear after feeding them and they eat snacks all day and night. They acted they never eaten a day and always be hungry all the time. My oldest son can not wait to go to Vietnam due to he want to try drink tiger beer. 🤦🏻‍♀️😑 I swear, sometimes I feel like God punished me with my oldest son. 🤣😂

Final note, I hope everyone have great day!!! 😁💗🌷

The chemistry in Minglan comes a little later. Zhu Yi Long is gorgeous! I wanted to watch him in Guardian but it was a hard watch so i gave it up. I also liked him a lot in My True Friend but he didn't get the girl. Am hoping he doesn't get typecast as the broody sensitive type.

Yeah, i was kinda wary of that Song-Song match because he seems so outgoing and playful and she seems so self-contained. Better a divorce than being with the wrong person for the rest of one's life..but dang, these two started having trouble within one year of their marriage. That would mean a really bad match.

What's tiger beer? Can he not get tiger beer outside of Vietnam?

Zhu Yi Long picks "interesting" roles.

In "Xin Xiao Shi Yi Lang", he played the 2nd male lead who eventually got the girl when she lost her memory of her true love - male lead character. He turned evil, pitting him against ML. Girl died saving ML. He literally imploded himself right after she died.

In "Border Town Prodigal", he played the male lead loved and loved by both female leads. I believe both girls died saving him on separate occasions.

Never finished "The Guardian". However, the uproar from both drama-only and novel fans seemed to indicate a very crappy ending. Novel's author wrote an extra story to soothe the fans. (In the novel, happy ending for the male leads who finally officially got together after 5,000 years.)

Seems like a straightforward romantic relationship happy ending Zhu Yi Long drama doesn't happen often.

He has a happy ending in Giving You A Dreamlike Life. Well, at least the ending ending. In the story within a story that takes place in '36 he dies. But then in the modern era they find each other and I'm assuming get their dreamlike life.
I liked Guardian the drama so I'm not planning to read the novel. (admittedly I skipped thru a bit of peripheral stuff). I thought the ending was fine and it was obvious they were going to get together. It was subtly done to get around the censors, very clever of them. Either that, or I already knew they were destined so it was easy to read into what they said, and I have a good imagination so I don't always have to be shown explicit scenes.
Still haven't made it thru his episodes in Minglan or My True Friend.

Hi, beanies.

I'm back from Scotland. I spent about 10 days shuttling from Edinburgh to Glasgow to Oban to Dundee. It's summer there, but freezing cold, with temperatures dipping below 9 degrees on some days, and biting winds...these killed me, they were so cold, and my umbrella was no protection against the blustery winds.

On the flight there, I watched Rampant with Hyun bin. He's just gorgeous in sageuk, but the story is so meh, and the love story was weaker than the coffee they served me, and that coffee was pretty bad, so you can guess how dreary and uninspiring the love line was. The zombies were the only good thing about the movie. Apart from Hyun Bin, of course, who charmed with his usual dazzling smiles and flirtatious dimples...or is that flirtatious smiles and
dazzling dimples? I was just - blinded.

So, on the three hour train ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh, I decided to write another chapter of my fanfic, and thanks to Korean drama, I decided to throw in amnesia...lolol. My hero gets knocked down by a car, and he falls WHAM! and just like that, he forgets the girl....in 24 hours. Hahahaha. I felt so powerful wielding my finger, I can tell you that...with a few taps of my forefinger on my tablet, poor Jaemin forgets everything associated with the love of his life.

You can check out my fanfic here. It'll move you to tears. I'm not kidding. Seriously, I cried writing my story.

Everyone is amazing in this show. Even the second lead guy made my heart skip a beat when he held Ye rin's hand and told her that he wanted her to be his real girlfriend. The wacky parts are over the top and kind of remind me of TLE, but it's the serious parts that get to me...they're so moving and sad. I thought it'd be a mediocre show, but it's turning into something quite incredible. I think it'll end with love...she hates her husband, and he hates her, but I think it'll end with them remembering how they fell in love.

Secret Life of My Secretary ended, it was cute overload but a rather typical romcom in my opinion. My surprise favorite character was Veronica Park (yeah).

Abyss ended. Writing could have been much more sharp, but still really liked the lead couple.

Angel's Last Mission I know it's been said repeatedly over on Soompi, but I am really getting Goblin-ending vibes. Well, this isn't a bad show, but its no Goblin, you know what I mean?

Absolute Boyfriend Wow, has the second lead male ever been written as a jerk. It's still all about him. He feels like all robots could be dangerous so his solution is to publicly confess his love for his ex in the belief she'll coming running back to him? And this after 09 had just come to his rescue. But at least this show is touching on some of the issues related to robots gaining self-awareness and emotions. And, wouldn't they be androids instead? Does Korea not use that term, or is no one using it anymore because Google likely has trademarked it?

On my radar Deep in My Heart a Chinese show that seems to be He is Psychometric mixed with either Hyde, Jekyll and Me or Oh, My Ghostess (depending on what is going on with the heroine, which I hadn't figured out from the part of the first episode that I saw.

I smacked my head when he revealed his relationship with Da Da.

I think Wang Joon was coming to his senses and accepting that he lost to a robot. However after Da Da showed how easily a robot can be rebooted and also how 10 was extremely dangerous, Wang Joon decided he must get Da Da back at all cost. I just don't agree with his method.

At this point, I can see that Da Da isn't going back to him. There were several occasions where she realized Wang Joon really loves her and did things for her but they didn't changed her mind. So his efforts will be futile.

I suggest to Wang Joon to stop worrying about Da Da. She's an adult. If she isn't worried about Young Gu going rogue and willing to take the risk, let her be. I mean there are always people willing to get hurt or die for love.

Required fields are marked *

You have to watch this weeks' episodes. I think Wang Joon was first in shock that he lost to a robot, then in denial and finally some sort of reluctant acceptance. It was only when the new robot, 10 came on scene and almost killed him and Da Da that he decided it's too dangerous.

What I dislike is him making the press con announcement that he's with Da Da all these years. He might think that's about being his true self(after having to keep up with the celebrity image) or he thinks that's what Da Da wants because she did want that. However, on the latter, he forgets that Da Da has already broken up with him. She wouldn't want this revelation now. Its not only meaningless, it's going to be a burden to her.

This said, I don't think he meant to hurt her or was he just thinking about himself but it was really a stupid move.

Required fields are marked *

I have decided Wang Joon isn't a jerk. He's just dumb/clueless when the script demands it. I was applauding the drama for giving him insights to how his relationship derails. I also think it's very reasonable and correct for him to be afraid that robots can be dangerous. He made all the right points. And then, he goes and declares he's with Da Da for 7 years. I don't know if it's out of desperation to keep Da Da out of danger i.e. get her away from Young Gu at all cost, although I don't see why would that declaration would help. But the look on his face tells me he is...eh...clueless. Right intention, wrong method.

Anyway, this week's episodes were quite fun. We get new robot -10 and Hong Jong Hyun's portrayal of a robot is what I wanted to see. Almost human but we can see the difference. My problem with Jin Goo is that there's no difference between a robot and human. I am not talking about whether the technology is possible but when you watch a drama about a almost human robot, there's no fun in watching one that shows no difference.

I think that declaration is not for the sake of winning Dada at all. It was probably (hopefully) a moment of liberating his lies once and for all. He actually kept telling his noona he hit that bastard but all she says is he can’t say that publicly. Albeit he is selfishly disclosing Dada’s private life as well, it’s something he’s never had the guts to do, until Diana teased him for being a wuss.

So it's just so that he can live better with himself? Double smack my head.

This drama is becoming like a learning journey for Wang Joon. Although it's been interesting but I wish they delve more into Da Da and Young Gu. Not the cheesy romantic scenes that fans want but a more in-depth exploration to the ups and downs of a relationship with a machine, no matter how absurd it is.

I actually liked Jong Hyun's robot a lot. It looked like he had to pause to compute and then decide how to arrange his features to smile or whatever, and also decide how to act. It was sinister.

I actually do not like Yeo Jin Gu in this show. I'm going to try the ghost hotel show and see if I can be comfortable seeing him there. I think I only liked him in Circle.

I feel the exact same way! I can see 10 processing new information in a split second and reacting according to his A.I.'s assessment of the situation or person in front of him.

Just like how Seo Kang Joon played two different roles in Are You Human Too, HJH is doing the same here. I can see the differences when he is the real Wang Joon and when he's being 10.

The argument for Jin Goo would be that his robot is very advanced and therefore impossible to tell if he's human or robot. However, we don't know if it's by choice or if it's because he can't. The only time he came close to it was when 09 went to live with Diana but it's more of just being stiff and unsmiling most of the time than robotic like 10.

If Jin Goo isn't good at playing robot, it's no big disadvantage. Hardly any role other than dramas like this would demand it. My concern with Hotel De Luna is his romance with IU. The romance in this robot drama is too cringey. Hopefully Hotel De Luna is much better. The teasers look fun and I do want to watch IU in something different from her last role, she is rocking in all the teasers so far.

@linda-palapala

Have you caught up or still watching the first and last 5 mins?

0

@outofthisworld I gave up trying to watch all the episodes from the beginning but I'm at least watching all from about ep 18 on. I still check raw ends and previews (before Viki gets them subbed) out of curiosity to see if the end is always with her and the robot.

1

@linda-palapala

I think Da Da is so far gone that I would find it unbelievable if she goes back to Wang Joon. Maybe the sane thing is to choose neither but I am betting on Da Da and Young Gu staying together.

0

@outofthisworld Wang Joon keeps talking about how dangerous robots are. Is this foreshadowing, or just to tease us, or just to eventually prove robots really are dangerous - except for robot 9, who's just the perfect person? Or to show us humans are dangerous too? What's the message here??

1

@linda-palapala It was already proven in this week's episodes that robots can be dangerous. Da Da almost got killed. It freaked Wang Joon out. He had almost gotten around to the fact that Da Da chose a robot over him but this new development hardened his stance against Young Gu.

Meanwhile, Da Da insists that Young Gu is different. I think this is what the show is getting at. Already it's telling us that Young Gu is developing human emotions, getting heartbeats etc. I won't be surprised if Young Gu gets a conscience too. He probably already has.
@moonbean made an excellent point in the latest recap. Young Gu was already 'all human' when he first interacted with Da Da.

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was a show which remained good enough even after the couple came together? For me I usually noticed that many shows went downhill after the couple were together unless there was another conflict. I was recently thinking of a script and I realized that I also stopped after the couple united because they were the only source of conflict for me. I ultimately gained some respect for writers because they have it hard writing way too many episodes on a simple setup. Were there any dramas that without any other conflict still maintained interest when the couple united?

Two Chinese dramas come to mind, and I loved them both: Legend of Fuyao they're a couple thru half the drama and support each other fully thru trials. It does have a happy ending, though it's debatable whether they're in the mortal world or the immortal world.
The Legends with Xu Kai and Bai Lu. I'm on ep 40-41 and they get married. They've been lovey-dovey for a few episodes now. They do go thru more trials and at the end he has to go off for 5 years to get rid of his inner demon, but he does, comes back and they're together. The last scene is their children (who look just like them, ya know).

You could try Weightlifting Fairy Kim Book-Ju, Healer and Can you hear my heart. There were plenty of conflict, just not between the couples once they teamed up.

These kinds of shows are my favorites. That and the exclusion of clingy second leads.

as far as I remember, I never wrote a personal OT post, it was always a comment/reply to other post, so here it’s my first (personal) OT post :)
I decided to post something here after I encountered a @javabeans ‘s twit, in which she shown her old notes for End of Year’s review, saying that she felt a bit nostalgic, or sort, and I don’t know, I felt nostalgic my self, on how time flies, on how many years have dramabeans become my go-to source for kdrama, 8, 10, 12 years? so to be exact, I’m feeling old! :D
and to find a post in DB that is solely dedicated to
celeb news, the song-song couple unfortunate event, it was surprising, and not in a bad way I think, I echoed most beanies’ sentiment that we’re glad that DB provide us with the coverage and platform to express what we felt about the song-song situation, rather than having it go in other site that could be more on speculation and fan war, here I trus DB and beanies wouldn’t go that far,, :)

As I’m in nostalgic mood, would like to say thank you so much dramabeans for staying with us all these years, I guess this post is apt to be my ‘official’ shout out for DB’ovelords: JB, @girlfriday , @headsno2 , to all minions (you are all special), with special thanks to @lollypip because she recap my ultimate drama My Ajusshi :) , to @stroopwafel and @missvictrix , for long long time may you two bear with us, haha..
Have a great weekend, and always love yourself beanies!

I have a quite a few shows I'm watching, but I kind of hop skip around them based on mood, even though most are feel good shows.

I cant believe how quickly I've become accustomed to the Korean airing schedule. The majority of my life has been to watch a show for years but one ep a week. Now I look at some of the 20-30 ep C dramas and wonder if that is too long. And am watching 2 currently airing shows that only give me one ep a week and it feels too stingy.

Finished Tokyo Bandwagon and now want a show to fill its place. This one took me longer than it could of because I'd turn it on when I basically felt like I needed a cozy sweater.
To replace it I'm considering Fukuyado Honpo ~A Kyoto Love Story, Biblia Koshodou No Jiken Techou, or 5-ji Kara 9-ji Made.

But on the totally bright side I've discovered C-drama and soap opera Well-intended love on Netflix and I LOVE it. It's like Sunset Beach in 20 episodes. Bam-Bam-Bam with the absurdities.

Other than that, I have a lot of dramas tagging along but the one that holds the most fun is TW drama Before We Get Married. Eagerly awaiting episode 5 sub tomorrow. The feels! The fire!

TGIF! Hope everyone had a good week. I am behind of some shows and looks that it won't get better soon (summer is busy season). Song-Song couple stuff aside, even though we already know most of K-celebs have plastic surgery there must be some people who just can't stop talking about it. Go Won-hee who plays model Min Ye-rin in the drama Perfume was picked on that, and she mentioned her position in the mid-point press conference for the show. [OSEN, 2019.06.24] Perfume is a fantasy romance drama where genius designer Seo E-Do and fashion model Min Ye-rin meet and fall in love while living a lifeless life. The show made the top spot with a rating of 5.0% (ep1) and 6.4% (ep2) with first broadcasts in Mon-Tuesday dramas, and didn't miss the top spot until recently- Ratings of MBC's Investigation Couple went up steadily and reached to 7.7%.

About what the viewers can expect in the later eps, Sin Sung-rok mentioned, "If you think the show revealed how characters became entangled so far, there will be heartfelt romance and a feeling of emotion getting deeper in the second half. I hope the viewers looking forward since it will have explanation of the parts that I have behaved weirdly, and the unique portrayal of Seo E-ho's behavior toward love."
Go Won-hee said, "New characters are expected to appear. Each person's feelings become honest, and in the case of Min-Ye-rin, there will be dangerous walking on tightrope, since she is the person who lives with secrets. I assume that part will add to the fun."

Shin showed his actor power by succeeding successively of the four works in which he played the lead role including Perfume. Shin, who returned to 'Perfume' following 'Man to Die', 'Return', and 'Empress Dignity', leads the show as the genius designer Seo E-do. "I am having a new experience of how far I can show myself, which I did not know well before. I think that my image looks different because of the color or situation of project is different. Basically, when choosing works, I am worried that I should do something new. I'm grateful that people watch me favorably."

Go Won-hee plays the fashion model Min Ye-rin while showing the emotions of the housewife Min Jae-hee (Ha Jae-sook) inside. There is a burden to portray persuasive change of emotions because it is Min Jae-hee ajumma inside, but Ye-rin in 20's outside. "I was worried a lot that my acting and Ha-jae-sook's acting would connect well when Min Jae-hee changed to Min Ye-rin. I was worried about the part whether there might be a sense of disparity, but fortunately, her voice and my voice tone are bass, so we look more in line. It seemed natural in transformation, maybe because we wear same wig and dressed in the same way. In the early stage, I went to the editing room to watch the performance of Ha Jae-sook, and tried to catch her acting tone and play it accordingly. Because I did not marry and have childbirth, I remembered taking care of my siblings on...

...behalf of my working parents, and drew out similar emotions. The good thing is that Kim Jin-kyung in the show is very much like my second dongsaeng. I think it's very fortunate."

In addition to the emotional changes playing Min Ye-rin in 20s and Min Jae-hee in 40s, Go Won-hee is not afraid of ruining her image for laughter. "There is no burden or fear in ruining my image. I only think that I should work hard and try hard thinking this is character and acting. When I played the messed up character, there was time PD-nim said, "You are an actress who uses your face well". So I try to express without trying to save myself... I try to immerse in the character regardless of type of the character I meet. I believe if I act another character, I will look like another character. I just do my best now."

Go Won-hee collected the buzz early on. She was caught in the plastic surgery rumor. Go calmly answered questions that are somewhat sensitive and sensitive. "I do not know what to say, but I didn't pay much attention to it. Actually it is true. I was worried if it would cause trouble for the drama. I will repay with acting to avoid such comments." At the time of the production press conference of Perfume, Go Won-hee was noticed with her changed appearance. Unfortunately the suspicion of her plastic surgery garnered more attention than the show at the time of the first broadcast. It was argued that the face of Go Won-hee was changed, especially her eyes, and the plastic surgery rumor prevailed. Go Won-hee's name was on top of real-time search-word query on portal sites, but she and her agency did not disclose her position at that time.

(Fortunately netizens have responded that it is better than denying, saying "That is cool" about her admitting. It is also thanks to Go Won-hee's acting- steadily digesting her character skillfully. As she admits the fact that plastic surgery rumor is not big deal for her, there are responses that they should focus on acting rather than appearance.)

Perfume, which is at a turning point, will continue with love triangle by Shin Sung-rok and Kim Min-Kyu for Min/Go Won-hee. Go said, "My bickering acting with Kim Min-kyu is really good. It is relationship like aunt taking care of a child now, but if we make progress a little more, I think good chemistry will come out. For Shin Sung-rok, since I have watched, listened and felt so much while living in the same house with him, our chemistry has shown already, but I wonder if we will show even more exploding chemistry with this plot development."

Shin Sung-rok said that he would not miss the comical part while there are more serious scenes in the latter half. "Those who want the romance expect the romance to progress fast. I think that the color of the drama is irrationality and laughter which can come out anytime. What I can say is that we will give you a laugh until the end." Shin added, "The direction the drama should go we think is that we never lose comedy even in serious emotions and situations. Our aim is to catch two rabbits."

Go Won-hee said, "If you look appearance, it is the story of an obese woman who lost self-confidence to go back to the time when she was skinny. Because she changes to herself in the past, it seems not to be focused on such(become beautiful by artificial means) side. I think drama will unfold for her to realize and understand herself a little bit more."

Finally, Shin Sung-rok stated the expectation point. "We plan to reclaim the hint the viewers wonder about. It will not flow in a highly anticipated direction. It would be more fun to check the broadcast."

Here is what others said in the production press conference done before the first broadcast. [OSEN, 2019.06.03] Perfume is meaningful project for lead actors- Sin Sung-rok and Go Won-hee's first lead role, Cha Ye-ryun's return project after having a baby, and Ha Jae-sook's special effect makeup. Especially since it is a drama dealing with fashion world, fabulous costume and fashion shows are another point of watching.

PD Kim Sang-hui introduced "Perfume" as the story of a woman and a man. "It's a romantic comedy that a woman who devotes her life to protect her family, and a man who doesn't have the courage to confess his love, meet miraculously and develop new relationship. It would be nice if people could enjoy feeling at ease, without thinking it is complicated."
Kim pursued the perfection for the drama by getting cooperation from the top modeling agency as well as designer Ji Chun-hee. "We cooperated with top designers and model agencies for 2-3 months. We are going to show a fashion show that is more progressed than ones shown in the previous dramas. Just watching the fashion of Seo E-do will be worth watching."(yeah I also saw in fan wall posts lol)

PD Kim mentioned about the difficult casting process. "Casting isn't something I can do because I want to. It was the hardest because topic was both sensitive and comical. Sung Sung-rok said that he had time after finishing his previous project, so I made the casting proposal to him first. As for Go Won-hee ssi, I came across to watch "The Strongest Deliveryman", and found she had a talent for comedy. I cast her because it is a role that comedy is the base. We have situation Shin Sung-rok and Go Won-hee leading the drama together, and we are doing well having fun."

Cha Ye-ryun, Ha Jae-sook and Kim Min-kyu were also the actors who accompanied PD Kim. "Ha Jae-sook's casting for Min Jae-hee role was not easy. She had to be somewhat aged, had a good acting ability, and had to be able to have an intensive make-up, so it was difficult role, but she accepted happily. I think the show has a fresh card and a fresh combination."

Cha Ye-ryun picked the show as her return project after four years. "I got married, gave birth and currently raising the child. My child is 10 months old. I had a lot of worry when this role was offered if I was ready to return to work. But my husband(Joo Sang-wook) was assuring helper. He always cheer me on, and told me that he wanted me to return to work as soon as possible. I started shooting after I got his promise that he would take care of our child. He is secure fence protecting me by my side. I am filming feeling comfortable and having fun".

Shin Sung-rok plays Seo E-do, a genius designer who is also suffering from 52 phobia and 35 allergies. "I thought now I had a chance to show a romantic comedy. Because I enjoyed reading the script a lot, I dare to say I have confidence that people will like it too. I have many long lines, and there are many scenes I look like doing rap. I'm filming, thinking they fit me so well." He continued, "There is no time the set atmosphere feels down. I am a mood maker. I go around talking a lot and make people cheery." Cha Ye-ryun confirmed. "Shin has a lot of screen time in the drama and has a lot of work. He is really an important person in the field and plays many roles."

Cha expressed her faith in Shin Sung-rok. "The point of watching is the performance of Seo E-do. The set is very fun because he shows unimaginable acting when I act with him. Thanks to him, much more interesting pictures come out than the script. I believe in Shin Sung-rok." Kim Min-kyu who plays Yoon Min-suk, an idol-turned hallyu actor said that he actually laughed, not acting. "I saw Shin Sung-Rok giving a comic performance for the first time. That scene still imprinted in my head. It is so funny that I want to do the impersonation. I hope people look at it at least once."

Ha Jae-sook's Min Jae-hee role has many duties as PD Kim confessed she was the most difficult role in casting. She has to have good acting skills, and the special make-up makes acting even harder. "I think I just have to start work earlier than others and leave work later than others. I think to myself I should do convincingly since I am doing it. I'm making my best efforts, so I hope people look at me approvingly."

I think the show got better. Perfume fighting!

I was shocked to see SS couple news on the DB. Time(and people-no JB and GF) certainly changed. So Song-Song couple is No rain/Kim Tae-hee couple. I thought they had similar dynamic that wife has upper hand(well you know what I mean) over husband. As forever k-drama fan who kept up-to-date with entertainment news, I have certain impressions on celebs. I had impression that Song Hye-kyo is easy-going and soft, Song Joong-gi is manly and righteous. (while Rain is naive and sincere, and Kim Tae-hee is smart.) Well, I hope people don't make too many rumors (including hurting Park Bo-gum's nice image).

Drama-wise, I completed 3 dramas this week- Secret of secretary, Abyss, and Save me 2. All had happy ending -well, I can't say that's all good(Abyss?) but I enjoyed somewhat-
SoS: I loved the cute lead couple, and of course awesome Veronica Park
Abyss: It got much better in later episodes. My fave- Min's devotion for Se-yeon, and Three women(Se-yeon, Mi-do and Hee-jin)'s friendship.
Save me 2: Amazing acting all around. I was especially impressed with Kim Young-min(pastor Sung), and Um Tae-gu(Kim Min-chul). It was not scary like S1, but was Good! And how nice they made a connection to S1 through Jo Jae-yoon!

oh I said I had crush on lead actor(DL) watching Ashes of Love. Silly me. I thought he had a daughter. I'm about 2/3 done and still like him- This is big deal because I don't get crush on actors that often. I think I only had 3 so far- Rain, Kim Myung-min, and Jo Hyun-jae. How do I get over it?-watch another show he is in. lol.

btw I won't be here on next OT, so have nice July 4th everyone!

i'm watching abyss during my study breaks (that end up morphing into hour-long ones bc each episode is an hour lol) and i found the bgm tracks really interesting, i mean you hardly get fully-orchestrated, circus-like bgm in your kdramas and i must say the bgm tracks do make the scenes in abyss a lot more memorable simply because you can identify the loud orchestral noises whenever there's something to do with abyss. I've been looking around on youtube and spotify to see if anyone uploaded the bgm tracks but there isn't any :((

Yoo hoo, IT Goddess @mary,

I just finished marathoning the very entertaining and thought-provoking IT'S OKAY IT'S LOVE, and noticed that each recap and the entry for the drama on Master Recap List page 4 is missing the drop-down episode list. It was a pain in the petoot to find the recaps because the show's title has a couple of variants on other websites -- and punctuation is all over the place. I finally found a tag that worked:
http://www.dramabeans.com/tag/its-okay-its-love/.

I know that you're up to your armpits in programming, and hesitate to throw another chore on the pile. On the other hand, it would be a great boon to Beanies to have easy access to the recaps by the tag-team of uri HeadsNo2 and gummimochi. Zo In-sung and Gong Hyo-jin absolutely sparkle in this show. Many thanks. ;-)

Little rant on:

Why is it so hard for Korea to publish DVDs of their dramas? Even with the highly rated shows there's a song and dance, will they - won't they process!
Really, oodles of extra content, comment tracks and goodies are nice and appreciated, but I just want a legal, physical copy of the show with good picture quality. Preferably with English subs, still at some point in my life I intend to learn Korean for real and I won't need that any more, righ!?
A well, pobbisly something I have to live without as TVland turns more and more digital. Yes, I like physical copies of my favourite books too, thanks for asking.

Rant off.

What is the drama that you feel has the best female character development of all time?
I just finished watching What's Wrong With Secretary Kim? and Her Private Life, and read both the show's recaps. The recaps for both concluded that these enjoyable series were focused on the female lead in the first half, and slowly shifted to the male lead perspective and development in the second half of the series, letting the female ;ead's character development to stall. I was trying to think of a series with the focus staying on the female lead's development for the entire series, but seem to be drawing a blank. The few series that I could think of that were mostly focused on the female lead's character development are:
My Name is Kim Sam Soon, Sly and Single Again, The Last Scandal of My Life, Age of Youth, Dal Ja’s Spring, and Ex-Girlfriend Club.
I would like to find something inspiring to watch. Any suggestions?
