Vagabond releases first action-packed teaser trailer

Lee Seung-gi (Hwayugi) and Suzy (While You Were Sleeping) will star in Vagabond, which is an SBS drama about a man who becomes involved in a terrible airplane crash that kills 211 people. As he digs for the concealed truth behind the crash, he finds that it leads to a larger morass of national corruption. Lee Seung-gi plays the man in question, a stuntman named Cha Dal-gun, and Suzy plays a black ops agent named Go Hae-ri.

The recently released Vagabond teaser is the third in a line of teasers that SBS has released for dramas to be aired in 2019. The others were for Kim Nam-gil’s Hot-blooded Priest and Jung Il-woo’s Haechi. Following the recent trend of Korean dramas filming overseas, Vagabond was also filmed partially at an foreign location, specifically Morocco.

The teaser begins with shots of Lee Seung-gi frantically running across all of Morocco, trying to find his nephew’s killer. As the media try to also get the latest scoop on the plane crash, Bae Yoon-shik (Cantabile Tomorrow), playing a politician, states his credo of “honesty above all else” to his fellow politicians. And we also see Suzy, who is fired up about the meaningless deaths of citizens in the plane crash.

Most of the rest of the teaser is filled with car chases, explosions, and sniper shots, but we do get a good look at Shin Sung-rok (An Empress’s Dignity). At the end, Lee Seung-gi sorrowfully shouts out, wondering why his nephew had to die.

SBS’s pre-produced action-thriller drama Vagabond, directed by Yoo In-shik (Mrs. Cop, Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim) and co-written by Jang Young-chul and Jung Kyung-soon, premieres this coming May.

Oh my. And this is a drama, not a film? That’s a whole lot of action! Lee Seung Gi looks like he was made for this role, yay! 😍

Not convinced about Suzy, but I’ll give her a chance. Hey at least she doesn’t look like a potted plant here.

Seo Ye-ji would've been great. She kicks butts convincingly and her voice is extra.

agree with you..someone who can act and pulls off action scene..Seo Ye Ji could've been a better choice for the role, saw her in Lawless with Lee Jun Ki,

And you mentioned it, now I can't help but compare, "Ohh, that's right! What an unfortunate..." It's not like that I don't like Suzy, but I couldn't finish all of her dramas because her roles had never really convinced me to invest in the character. So I lost enthusiasm to watch them in the end.

I finally figured out why Suzy became my least fav actress...it’s all unwarranted hype the press gives her. She must have a great PR firm behind her.

so were many other forgotten groups. Suzy's claim to fame are the two things korea obsesses over - Beauty (and to top it, she is a natural goddess) + first love (she became popular because of the cult classic movie architecture and thereby becoming nation's first love)

gong yoo was never considered good looking and did so many side characters.. but CP changed it

Bo gum- 1988 , he didn't receive the same stardom despite similar good efforts in other projects including monster

Lee min ho has to be biggest example

And his involvement was because amongst the 211 dead, one of them is his family member. Or brother. Who happens to be the pilot....

2
reply

Required fields are marked *

it's the action-packed version. and the family member is his nephew. who may or may not be the wrongly accused pilot.

but on second thought, he's too young to have a pilot nephew.

But I'm my uncle's nephew, we're both 24. He's born from my grandma's sister. So perhaps LSG here just have a biiig extending family like me XD

I consider myself a fan of Lee Seunggi and been following his drama since Brilliant Legacy except for Kings 2 Heart and uncompleted You are All Surrounded. Unfortunately, I think I have to give this show a miss because of Suzy. Somehow I avoided all her dramas except for Dream High and Gu Family Book. And from Gu Family Book, I can't say much about the two leads' chemistry. Sorry, Seunggi. I hope the next drama will be better.

I'm the opposite, I really want to watch Suzy's drama because she's pretty, seems like a cool person and I want to understand the hype. I've tried Uncontrollably Find, While You Were Sleeping, Gu Family Book, I dropped all them. I hope I will stick with this one. It's big budget, so people who invest in this drama want it to be successful. And there's Lee Seung-gi, I love him!

3

As much as I love Seunggi I'm going to pass on this one too. I will just stick to Masters in the House :)

Required fields are marked *

I stuck with Gu Family Book to the end because of Choi Jin Hyuk in saeguk getup. Lee Seunggi was okay but I found the delivery of his lines a little stiff at times. I wasn't too impressed with Suzi in GFB at all. She couldn't really execute martial arts moves that well. Her fighting scenes often looked awkward. Hope she improves this time around. Giving this new drama a shot.

This first time I saw the trailer it totally looked like the trailer of a film!
So after ages of waiting our beloved Gumiho will finally meet his girl again!
Must say that scene in the bathtub he really reminded me of his Gumiho hair (assuming that is him!)
I am also all pro pre-produced dramas so I am looking forward to this one.
Suzy did really well in While you were sleeping so I am hoping that streak continues for this drama!
They had really good chemistry in Gu family book so that should help with chemistry here!
I almost partially want their first meet cute to be just like their last meet in Gu to have continuation (in my fantasy world ofc)

I might be the only one who didn't like the trailer eh? I don't know but shows with such grand plots have apotential of going downhill. I found the politicians to be a little cartoonish already. But I guess the writers are strong. Even if I couldn't get past their famous drama "Giant" mostly because of its heaviness and episode count. This looks the same kinda heavy but I don't mind heavy with substance.

Their last drama MONSTER was a miss for me but GIANT was memorable and the last national drama of it's kind.
PD Yu wasn't involved in MONSTER but he was one of GIANT's PDs so maybe there is hope.

Empress's Dignity has sent me down a Shin Sung-rok rabbit hole, add in Lee Seung-gi who I enjoy immensely, and I'm in. I also have a penchant for people taking the law into their own hands, but hope this doesn't get bogged down by boring politics or corporate boardroom snores.

I only like Suzy in While You Were Sleeping so far, maybe because of the way the writer-nim create character?
I really hope she got a good one also in here although look at the teaser, I'm not really convinced with her as an agent, I don't get the badass look in her. Kim Hee Ae in Mrs. Cop is really fit to the role, we just need a 'younger' version of her for this drama.

As much as I have my reservations about Suzy I can’t deny she always picks projects that I’m interested in and it’s great that she’s playing a different character. I’m definitely excited to see Lee Seung Gi and I can see him acting his butt off already in the teaser. Hopefully there’s lots of action and less politicking

Wow, this is one drama teaser that definitely looks more like a movie trailer. I usually prefer action like this in movies to dramas (because it’s hard to keep up the tension and tightness of plot over 16 episodes) but I’ll give it a shot for Lee Seung Gi ~

I just ignore Suzy. Seung-gi is more than enough. Plus there are some other really good actors like Lee Geung-young. And LSG gives 1000% in everything he does so I'm eagerly waiting. (But you never know, Suzy may surprise us.)

I liked Suzy in While You Were Sleeping but in this trailer she literally has one expression throughout and doesn't look convincing at all doing those action scenes. LSG on the other hand seems to be putting his all into those stunts. I'll check out the first episode and decide from there.

Unpopular opinion! :) I love both of them in Gu Family Book, tho Suzy's kinda lacking but it's understandable for me. :) Gu Family Book is the first kdrama I've marathoned together with my bf so it's really memorable for me. Hahahaha. Plus, this established LSG as my ultimate oppa. ♥

I have been waiting for this reunion for five years to compensate for that i-don't-want'to-remember ending. Hahaha. Hope they can pull this off! :)

As someone who has competed in muay thai for ten years, it annoys me to no end why they always make the female leads fight in heels and long hair left down around their shoulders. Literally both are dangerous in a situation where someone is coming at you, not to mention your hair looks like poo afterwards. But this is my only beef, since everything else about this preview looks great! Ha
(and this is why I loved Kang So Bong in Are You Human Too, since they were smart enough to keep her in pants, sneaks and a cute ponytail. Love!!)
