Lee Sang-yi joins the cast of When Camellia Blooms

When Camellia Blooms has cast another supporting actor, Lee Sang-yi (Special Labor Inspector Mr. Jo, The Third Charm). This KBS drama will feature a romance between an older woman trapped by societal expectations and an idealistic man who wakes her heart with his “Anything is possible with love!” attitude.

Gong Hyo-jin (Jealousy Incarnate) plays the older woman, and Kang Haneul (Midnight Runners) plays her romantic interest. Lee Sang-yi plays a former baseball player who currently coaches a little league team. He is Kang Haneul’s character’s best friend and often-wrong relationship mentor.

It will be interesting to see Lee Sang-yi playing such a hapless and comic character, especially after seeing him role after role as a villain (e.g. Special Labor Inspector Mr. Jo, Smart Prison Living). Honestly though, I’m mostly excited for the main pairing because both Gong Hyo-jin and Kang Haneul can channel this adorkable awkward energy, and I can’t wait to see that energy bouncing between them on my screen.

KBS Wednesday-Thursday drama When Camellia Blooms will begin airing on in September of this year.

I am no doubt in the minority and will probably get some hate but I am not a fan of Gong Hyo-jin. Don't get me wrong, she is a good actress and I'm sure she is a lovely woman, but there is just something about her acting I don't like. I don't know if it's how she acts or what it is but despite the many dramas I've seen her in I struggle to name one I liked her in (even if I liked the dramas themselves). I'll probably still see this drama as I am a sucker for noona romances and I'll try to get past my prejudice.

This I can see. I could not make it through Kiss Me, Kill Me. Having Hwang Jung -eum as a co star sure did not help.

She is another one that is like fingernails across a chalkboard.

His acting tends to be overly theatrical and snobbish. He is one of my most favorite actors when he is playing acutely vulnerable or broken characters. But when his role calls for acting victotious, successful, cool, chic, genius, or any other type of high excellence he comes off so snobbish and conceited that he turns me off immediately.

No judgement. My list is much too long to risk my head by typing it here. But I have to be honest. Some of the actors on my list end up melting my heart in one show. I don't completely erase them from the list then, but can be more tolerant there-after.

Thanks for the no judgement! I didn't mean to start anything but it is quite interesting to see other Beanies unliked actors also. 😀

it's becausse she plays the same kind of character, rather pathetic, than strong, and than noble idiocy. Her characters usually fall for the guy even when he is a raging asshole. I still really like her though. 😲

I have to agree with you and Kafiyah. I like some of her dramas but not necessarily because of her. There is something about her I don’t like. And maybe what Kafiyah said is true. But another actress I don’t like is ~ducks head
~whispers Park Shin Hye

Yes, a light role for him! I feel bad he got typecasted into evil roles. Especially after his short run as the hapless sidekick in to.Jenny. :D

He was in to.Jenny? Lol, I don't remember him. I was too focused on the adorable leads.

He is funny guy, and a funny villain. I was laughing when public created memes for his character in Inspector Jo. Hwhaha... And he has good chemistry with his fmale costar in the third charm.

Special Labour Inspector Jo is crammed with promising young performers, this guy included. Thanks for reminding me of the memes for Yang Tae-soo. It was one of the biggest LOL moments of the show.

Yess... They casted some reliable young performers, though I know Kim Kyung Nam from come and huge me and Lee Sang Yi from the third charm. I was happy when they cast these two in Inspector Jo.

I have yet to see Lee Sang Yi in a non comedy roles . He is just too funny.

I didn't realize he was in "Smart Prison Living"~!!

Even I'm not a big fan of GHJ, I can't wait Kang Ha-neul's contagious smile... :)
