Drama viewership ratings for the week of Dec. 2-8, 2019

I don’t know if it’s timing or complete happenstance, but ratings for almost every drama went up this week. Perhaps numbers were evenly distributed due to there being less shows on the board; or perhaps these shows just upped their game. Whatever the case may be, it’s nice to see everyone, underdogs included, performing well.

At the beginning of the week, numbers went up for all three shows, with VIP and Chief of Staff 2 achieving their highest ratings so far. As for the midweek slot, drama 9.9 Billion Won Woman premiered to an impressive 8.7 percent. Its competition People With Flaws and Psychopath Diary were pretty behind but still in the game.

Finally, over the weekend, Pegasus Market finished its 12 episode run with 2.2 percent. Other weekend dramas Chocolate and No Second Chances achieved their highest ratings, and they’ve still got a long way to go. I’m hoping these dramas can maintain their high ratings, but with new dramas on the horizon, just about anything could happen.

TVN has been under performing this year but KBS and SBS are out performing cable channels since September. Next year TVN has all the star writers, PDs and actors while SBS only has the KES drama with LMH to bank on. Let's see what happens.

That would be really be nice! SSR will play a chaebol and save Jang Nara’s character from her pitiful state, away from her adulterous husband....just thinking of LSY, JNR, SSR together even in one scene is making me excited; a contrast of my feeling after watching ep. 9and 10 of VIP...

Yes. If you like wacky. It’s an ensemble drama about underdogs, with an understated romance. It feels very much like watching a musical comedy at a theatre. It’s only 12 episodes long so not a big investment of time. I laughed and I cried. Highly recommended.

maybe the ratings are up because the networks are cutting many prime time series to save money?
