Kim Bum courted for tvN’s Tale of Gumiho

tvN recently announced that they have been in talks with Kim Bum (Mrs. Cop, Hidden Identity) regarding a role in their drama, Tale of Gumiho. According to reports, the actor is positively considering their offer. If he confirms, it will be his first drama since the completion of his mandatory military service as a public service worker.

Tale of Gumiho is about the story of a male nine-tailed fox who becomes settled in the city of Seoul, and the PD who learns about the Gumiho’s existence and decides to scout him for her reality TV show. Lee Dong-wook (Reach of Sincerity) and Jo Boa (Forest) have confirmed their participation as the gumiho and PD respectively. It’s an interesting twist on a traditional Korean folktale as the gumiho is typically depicted as a beautiful woman.

The role that Kim Bum has been offered is not clear, but I’d love to see him as Lee Dong-wook’s supernatural sidekick. I would watch for that bromance alone.

Upcoming fantasy drama Tale of Gumiho, directed by PD Kang Shin-hyo (Children of a Lesser God) and written by Han Woo-ri (Children of a Lesser God), is set to film and air later this year on tvN.

I still keep Googling "whatever happened to the movie that was planned for Kim Bum to portray Bruce Lee?" Sometimes I wonder if I imagined it.

seems as though he has been gone for 10 years! does that mean i have missed him? and Lee Dong Wook can certainly compete for any beautiful female Gumiho anyday!

I think the first kdrama I ever saw - and the one that sucked me into this never ending rabbit hole - was "My girlfriend is a Gumiho" http://asianwiki.com/My_Girlfriend_is_a_Nine-Tailed_Fox

My humble opinion, from all the "boys over flower", Kim Bum is the only one that is really handsome, really truly handsome boy. I don't feel attracted to him as a man as if I would have fantasies with him, he is younger than me and just too much of a beauty, but I recognize he is very very handsome.
I hope he has a good personality too, and I hope he has success as an actor.

I don’t see it... Tbh he was the only boy in that drama that looked average to me, especially compared to Lee Min Ho, but on the other hand I can certainly see Lee Dong Wook’s beauty. Just my opinion tho, guess beauty’s subjective.

Beauty is absolutely subjective. I don't like Lee Min ho at all... his character in boys over flower, actually, made me kind of hate him, LoL, because not only he was arrogant but his face looks arrogant... I have the feeling he cannot play a more humble or tender character, but I haven't watched all his dramas, so I don't know.
Lee Dong wook, on the other hand, is ok for me, not particularly handsome but not bad looking, and as an actor I find him way more versatile and interesting, like he could play anything and noble make us believe it.
Kim Bum is handsome, but maybe too much pretty boy, I don't know. I wouldn't be sure about his acting skills, I wouldn't expect too much. Also he is very young... we will see.

I never understood the attractiveness of Lee Min-ho either. Of course I am a guy and, as you said beauty is subjective.

If you haven't seen it, watch Kim Bum in Padam Padam. It's more of an adult-themed drama (by Kdrama standards) but his acting is so believable. He's a sidekick again; this time to Jo Woo Sung and he's way to thin but he did that for the role. You will believe.

Oooh I haven't seen in him anything since Boys over Flowers. I hope he plays a supernatural being with Dong-wook.

If that's your wish, you should check him out in Padam Padam. You won't regret it.

Always the sidekick; never the bride. I would love to see Kim Bum get his own lead role. I pretend Hidden Identity does not exist.
