Drama viewership ratings for the week of Sep. 28-Oct. 4, 2020

Not much to report this time around, with half the week pre-empted due to Korea’s Chuseok holiday. We’ll have to wait until next week for the return of dramas When I Was the Most Beautiful, Alice, and More Than Friends. We’ll also be getting a lot of new dramas the next few weeks, so prepare yourselves!
Getting back to ratings, there wasn’t much change for our Monday-Tuesday shows. Brahms and Record of Youth brought in their usual numbers, the former around 5 percent and the latter around 7 percent. Meanwhile, newcomer Zombie Detective took a tiny bit of a dip, while the other newcomer Eighteen Again had a bit of a rise. Last but not least, over the weekend, Forest of Secrets ended its second season.

Episode 9's ratings fell to 3.3 but by following episode, it struggled back to 4.1.

Welp, at least RoY is doing good in rating. Probably because Korean ahjumma like bland and boring drama.
I'm glad that Secret Forest 2 and Missing are doing well, I really like both.

Actually, I saw the spike of high rating is whenever there are scenes of romance between the main characters (in fact, the highest point of rating is when Jungha was drunk), not b/c of just Bogum.
Also, the fact that Shin Ae Ra and Ha Hee Ra were super popular in older generation definitely help with the rating. Probably the main reason why the storyline focus on Shin Ae Ra and Ha Hee Ra too.

yeah because of romance and easy storyline...sodam too but bogum has most fans in korea compared to others..like there are so many posts about him on theqoo and pann since this drama is airing..he hits no.1 with brand reputation despite of being in same drama season with cho seungwoo, joo won, leejunki etc

In a head-scratch inducing world, some questions offer possible answers more easily than others. I do not think its a coincidence that one of the most effective (maybe THE most effective) male celebrity endorser in Asia leads a show that is far from perfect yet is still popularly received.
Your question made me think of an article I read earlier this week identifying the most followed celebrities on Instagram: three of the top ten were named either Kardashian or Jenner. At least I take comfort in the fact PBG has genuine talent (opinions vary, of course, as to the actual degree of that talent) and seems to be appreciative and grateful for his good fortune. And/or has platinum grade PR management behind him.

Definitely, PBG's Blossom Entertainment is very good in PR.
I mean, after SJK left the company, Blossom Ent. focus their attention on PBG and pretty much fix his scandals too.

Even with good shows a couple of hours each week for 2 months or more can lead to interest tapering off a bit but that never happened for me with either season of FoS. I also hope that the second season gets a double digit send-off but even if it does, is would be inadequate reward for its unalloyed excellence.

I guess FoS is more a show for selected audience and the Netflix view shop is as important (if not more than) as the rating in Korea.

Given FoS 2's ratings performance substantially improved over season 1's overall series' numbers, and the continued critical love for the show, waiting for a confirmed renewal for season 3 has become my biggest entertainment related anxiety. Feeling optimistic is way too often an invitation to disappointment but media reports are encouraging...

BDN said they were hoping that S2 could get over 7%, very humble wish imo. They knew this kind of show wouldn’t attract a huge number of viewers. The fact that they got over 7% for the first episode and 9.4% for the last one was already above their target. S2 is Tvn’s top 20 highest nationwide viewers. They are discussing the possibility of S3. Its now up to the writer. Praying...🙏

RoY is because PBG. I don't see the chemistry between the leads and its sas because I'm watching the series. LOL. I should start DYLB because i read lots of good feedback. RoY is just so-so.
