Little Boy - 1475k - before 1st week of December.

Kept the momentum and now when time is right, striking hard.

1575k - 19 December.

Little Boy - no action for December. New inning from 2021 January.

Cricket started today with spectators allowed entry. Looked good.

Dropped most dramas - and heart showing good interest in a Chinese drama.
New manga magazines season starts from 15th December and so i do start my new season with them too.
Time to have a lot of changes - broad changes from life style to rules.

Few months back i had written that i had watched tv dramas at all hours of the day - There were a few reasons for that -
Work - Mother used to knock the door and let me know that i hadn't eaten anything for the whole day. When you are engrossed in things then you forget about trivial materialistic matters. So that's how it became a habit for me to have no food, no liquid for 15-20hours straights and that's why i was able to handle the foolish acts of this summer.

And i had wrote about it before - Without taking a bath(refreshed and clean body) i never liked eating food - so 2 am i took bath, i cooked my meal and ate at 3.20 am. ( That's how i watching all these tv dramas so early in the mornings)
I had actually purchased a special wireless mice for kitchen purposes. Right hand to handle mice and left hand used to prepare all the food.

Knowing - honorifics, designations, numbers(1-10,100,1000), colours, food and fruits and basic greetings. 20minutes and done. Initially your brain does translate but after watching few tv media you brain becomes accustomed and tv media usually have very limited vocab. e.g - Romantic dramas have very similar dialogues settings so dependence upon translations aka subs is reduce to a greater degree.
I use this simple strategy for every demography.
In between i do add things and bang
Work - main
tv media - in background - good scene - pause media and watch it while idle.
Its not exactly multitasking - Just brain becomes more accustomed to such style of work.

Happy Friday, Beanies! Can you guess who jinxed herself for being too excited to go home last week? 😅

The first Korean sci-fi film set in space, “Space Sweepers,” will be released through the global streaming platform Netflix, as several attempts to have 2020 theater release failed due to the pandemic.

The film, one of the most highly anticipated of the year, was supposed to be a "franchise" movie. “'Space Sweepers' is a film that was created on the premise that its IP universe will be expanded to other various content such as webtoons and games,” said CEO Yoo Jung-hoon of local distributor Merry Christmas in an official statement through Netflix.

“But we cannot rule out the current Covid-19 pandemic […] and decided that we cannot put off the film premiere any longer. So, in order for successful follow-up expansion of the IP, we chose Netflix to present our film most successfully not only to local but international audiences as well.”

It seems that the production company's lenders and investors wanted to cut their losses to take less money from Netflix than the anticipated blockbuster theater gross. Then, make up the shortfall by Disneyfying the brand in other areas such off spin-off games and comics. It also seems that the company does not think entertainment industry will get back to any normalcy for a long time.

Thank you for the information. Of course I would have much preferred to watch SPACE SWEEPERS on the big screen (a very good chance in normal times here in NYC) but I am glad to be able to catch it on Netflix.

Happy Friday, beanies! The government announced earlier this week that our lockdown restrictions would somewhat loosen from tomorrow. This is welcome news in that extends the time limit outside and radius around our homes that we're able to move in. I hope we don't see another surge in Covid cases as people surge back into the non-essential shops, and I'm very excited to take a nice long walk tomorrow without keeping an eye on the time.

I've made decent progress on my sister's Christmas gift, though in a flash of self-overestimation, I decided to modify the pattern to include her dog...I always forget how long it takes to get the ratios right when you're adapting something. But it's worth it if it makes her smile.

I'm excited to start #RoundUp2020 next week! It'll be a lot of fun to read everyone's take on basically everything. Have a great weekend! 😊

I used to crochet amigurumi few years back to relax. The small size making it a fairly fast project and there's enough complexity in the pattern to tickle the brain. I miss making these little creatures. My toddler is obsessed with yarn (and anything dangly) so he never leave me alone when I'm with yarn/ threads.

I had to look up amigurumi - super cute! How did you learn? I also tend to prefer smaller projects; helps me keep my motivation up if I can see the finish line approaching.

0

@carlybisek Aren't Amigurumi just super adorable? I learned it from YouTube. Lots of great channels dedicated to this craft. There's lots of cute free patterns as well on the web. I'm not up to date with the resource otherwise i would've happily share it with you.

I think anyone used with needle like yoy would have pick it up easily. I used to knit before that. But after spectacular failure in making a sweater, i swore i would never spend that much time and energy making something 😝 So Amigurumi is the cure.

1

Ooh! You've reminded me of my own amigurumi when I was growing up. My mum had made me a bunch of amigurumi finger puppets and one giant (at that time) grey and yellow lion. I used to be fascinated by them! So cute and colourful!

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

Whoever is participating in #RoundUp2020 can tag me so that I can read all your masterpieces! Whether I will be writing this month...*sheepishly hides in her shell*🐢Okay, so I knew that I played my part in creating #RoundUp2020 and that it would take place December 2020. I also knew that I would start work December 2020, but the timelines messed up!😂

Unemployed Turtie used to spend her days jobhunting, binging K-dramas and commenting on Dramabeans, but her timeline ceases to exist from next week onwards. Her doppelganger, employed Turtie, created a new timeline in November 2020 and her timeline will be the only one in existence from next week onwards. Employed Turtie has seen glimpses of her unemployed doppelganger visiting Dramabeans or Dramaland this month, but work preparations kept her from changing timelines to investigate further. Employed Turtie has way more discipline, and way more on her plate, so she probably will not visit Dramabeans and Dramaland as often as she would love to.

Unemployed Turtie gave herself the task to participate in #RoundUp2020 and write and end of the year review. Will she be able to pass on this task to employed Turtie before her timeline disappears forever? Stay tuned on Dramabeans to find out!😉

First of all, I'm excited for Employed Turtie starting her new adventure next week! I really hope that you enjoy this new chapter and get to reap the success of your hard work and persistence.
Secondly, I hope that, even if it's just a line or two, she will be able to participate in #2020RoundUp when so moved and able.
Thirdly, even if she can't (because new jobs and new timelines must be respected and may take some settling into ), she'll anyway for sure be part of #RoundUp2020 in spirit.

happy friday beanies!
i have AT LAST finished because this is my first life, i was struggling to let go of the show, i didn't want it to end! i loved the show so much, it will absolutely make tier one on my spreadsheet, and nam se-hee has made my list of top 5 favorite male characters-- maybe even my 3rd favorite, i can't decide!

i keep forgetting how long r88's episodes are-- i only saw episode 6 last night T_T but it makes me so happy so i don't mind when i get around to actually watch it. and watching coffee prince and my ajusshi together has also made me love lee sun kyun ASDFGHSJ i just can't help it

to all my fellow beanies, happy thanksgiving! 2020 has been a difficult YEAR for sure, one that's been full of bleak times and uncertainty. there are two things that have made this time more bearable: 1) dramas and 2) the drama friends i've made here. thank you guys for all the advice, laughs, and fangirling with me ◡̈ i hope you all enjoy the weekend!!

love and hwaiting,

RIGHT? i just find his character super comforting in coffee prince, and he's done such a spectacular job in MA-- like i feel tired for him myself just listening to him sigh, but he's still so noble and kind through it all.

but the slight problem with watching both these dramas is that i ~lowkey~ like LSK now?? and he's over TWENTY FIVE years older than me??? you could say i'm pulling a lee jian (laughs, and then cries)

it's fine it's fine

i don't even know how to describe his performance besides saying it is SO. GOOD. i finished watching 4 eps of the show last night and am now on ep 9 T_T

2

I join you in love and incoherent babble. Must re-watch it as it is the most Buddhist of kdrama themes: "May all sentient beings find happiness and the root of happiness." Would be a great way to begin 2021, eh?

3

@jossie4cheryl That's a perfect line for everything that lies ahead for all of us!

Yes, the buddhist theme was especially memorable - I haven't seen a drama handle religious/philosophical ideas so subtly and powerfully ever. I loved it all that much more because of it.

2

"i ~lowkey~ like LSK now?? and he's over TWENTY FIVE years older than me"

It just means you have excellent taste! :)

I could go on and on about how amazing he is on MA but I think what impressed me the most is how much he does with relatively little - Dong Hoon doesn't talk a lot and keeps everything bottled up inside, yet the slightest change in his expression, or glance at someone, or shift in his posture speaks so much in telling DH's story. An outstanding actor and an outstanding show.

1
1
reply

Required fields are marked *

EXACTLY!!! my favorite drama characters are the ones that have so many microexpressions and use like actions to display their feelings-- it's much more accurate than when characters talk to themselves in dramas. each sigh just speaks multitudes, there's so much tiredness and sorrow in each one

Hi beanies, I’m outta steam tonight afterthis week, just am. Plus I’m kinda bummed we ended up canceling all-fam Christmas gathering because it involved so much traveling (flying), and everything is so uncertain. Although I read that Thanksgiving air travel exceeded 1 million on Wed. alone. It I know a family, actually two, who have multi generational households and COVID has hit. One fam in particular lost the grandfather, and the father is in the hospital- it’s bad.
I’m reading Stop! Do not Proceed! signals galore about DDSSLLD ending, and I usually don’t let that stop me, but should I invest my time when I just finished ep 10? I need a vitamin show right now!
The Crown season 4 is my least favorite, I think because Diana and Margaret Thatcher seem more like caricatures, as in their quirks seem overdone. I’m looking forward to Call The Midwife Christmas special though. Start Up is my Nov. kdrama.
Take care beans, ☮️ and ❤️ 🦉

I love reading the screenplay, it helps me a lot in my creative writing process. I love to breakdown it down scene-by-scene and analyze why it works. My mentor even told me that it's a nice way to practice scriptwriting by transcript a movie you watched, you learn the pace of the story by actually writing it. I just finished reading When Harry Met Sally and Parasites. It gives a totally different experience even I already know the plot.

Sometimes I just wonder how great it is if some Korean production releases their screenplay in English. I really want to learn Korean drama screenplay!

Anyway, do you guys here listen to Dive Studio Podcast? Eric Nam and his brother like to discuss Korean Drama on their "Commit or Quit" it's fun seeing two guys talk about drama in a serious manner.

December us just around the corner, which means its nearly time to think about 'best of 2020' lists. There were some very good series but it seemed none of them were the high profile star vehicles we'd expect. It'' be interesting to see what this year's 'best of' lists will look like.

START-UP

Drama tropes aside, I binged watch episodes 1-12 yesterday and finished early this morning and what I thought would bore the life out of me, actually didn't. So props to the following:

Kim Sun-Ho as Han Ji Pyeong - like this dude CAN act! Can't believe he made me cry in the first couple of episodes. I definitely can resonate with the majority why it feels that KSH is stealing NJH's thunder. He brought this character to life and I adore the fact that he delivers every ounce of emotion so aptly, it just hits you in the right spot.

Kim Hae-Sook as Halmoni or Mrs. Choi - Gotta love this veteran actress that brings her craft to such a predictable storyline and make it feel authentic.

Nam Da-Reum as young Ji Pyeong - the dude that made us cry buckets! I've seen posts about the show but no one's really given credit to the kid that made the first 2 episodes of the show great. If it wasn't for him and his great acting, he wouldn't give Ji Pyeong that kind of backstory that made us love this character. So props.

Kang Ha-na - I'm still reeling over her character in Scarlet Heart which proves how good she is and she makes a profound impact on this show that allows the very needed support for Bae Suzy's character, Seo Dal-mi.

That said, I think Start-Up started really great with its first two episodes focusing much of the backstory of Ji Pyeong, Seo Dal-mi and her family. Then things quickly went from great to predictable and I can't blame Suzy or Nam Joo-hyuk because the writers stuck to the key elements of a basic kdrama story. You can't make something as significant as those letters feel as if it had zero bearing come episode 10. That threw me off. Maybe I was expecting too much from this show? Maybe. With 3 more episodes left, I can kind of anticipate how Ji Pyeong's character would succumb to yet another valiant effort just so the male lead can get the girl and ending up being another show that could've been great but wasn't.

I just watched something that put me in the Christmas spirit today. The Korean pop ballad singer Lee Hi put out a performance video of her singing Christmas medleys while dressed as a Christmas tree with a big helium balloon star attached to the top of her head. Not only was it quite charming, I also got to hear a zippy Korean rendition of 'Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.' I'll leave it up to you to Google the video as Dramabeans doesn't seem too keen on attached content.
