Drama viewership ratings for the week of Jan. 11-17, 2021

After Penthouse‘s first season ended, I was worried this week’s chart would look a little bleak. Though Penthouse‘s absence is very much felt, the remaining dramas actually managed to hold their own. Secret Royal Inspector, for instance, was going steady and made a big jump to 9.7 percent. Then, True Beauty hit its highest rating of 4.3 percent.

Meanwhile, Uncanny and Mr. Queen continued to kick some major butt with their numbers. Uncanny will be ending next week, and then Mr. Queen soon after, and I look forward to seeing where their final numbers land. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of shows struggling, like high school drama Live On and thriller Cheat on Me, If You Can.

Isn’t Mr Queen a 20-ep drama?

It is. Its ratings have mostly plateaued, so I predict Mr. Queen beating Itaewon Class' 16.548% when it ends in four weeks.

Unlike IC, Mr Queen hasn't any competitors. Hardly a fair comparison.

Secret Royal Inspector got a boost from Penthouse's exit, but Korea must love sageuks between this and Mr. Queen.

It was the only drama on a public channel too.

SBS aired a drama only on the Friday and MBC seems dead :p

Ahh... I'll watch the miniseries Love Scene Number. This is how one of the easiest Korean miniseries that I recommended already.

KBS also airs Cheat on Me, If You Can, which is being beaten by True Beauty on cable.

I was talking about Monday-Tuesday's dramas for Secret Royal Inspector's boost.

I am not watching SRI (since I don’t have a subscription to iQIYI) but I am pleased with its ratings.
On the upcoming sageuk availability front, both KBS’s RIVER WHERE THE MOON RISES and SBS’s HONG CHUN GI are on the Viki-US “Coming Soon” list.

@panshel
Add in all the pseudo sageuks (shows that are essentially sageuks just in modern clothes.

OMG... Mr. Queen got the highest exploded rating ever on January 17 (featuring the bloody king's explosion) and almost bombed as Homemade Love Story (which this regular non-cable KBS epic family comedy-drama still dominated by consecutive topping since its debut both three national Korean TV ratings: non-cable/weekend/weekly overall (according to Nielsens/Dramabeans)). The Uncanny Counter still behind Mr. Queen and Homemade Love Story in both weekend and weekly ratings and I hope TUC looked like a good runner-up ratings for me so we'll see the final week ratings ahead if it is identical runner-up.
