Drama viewership ratings for the week of Feb. 8-14, 2021

Happy Valentine’s Day, or as I like to call it, Eating-As-Much-Chocolate-As-You-Can Day! We’re in the middle of a transition from one drama season to another, so the ratings chart is the emptiest it’s ever been. There are many dramas, mostly thrillers, to come, and as a big rom-com viewer, I’m holding on to whatever lovey-dovey fluff I can. For me, that’s definitely Sunbae, which hasn’t had the best numbers ratings-wise but has been number one in my heart. Then, of course, there’s the mindless fun that is Mr. Queen, which finally wrapped up to 17.4 percent.

I know. I have never ever seen in my whole 10 years of drama experience such an empty grid. I know, 10 year may not seem much, but I am pretty sure that this is the first time ever. It almost look ominous for dramaland.

It so rarely happens that a drama I'm live watching actually has high ratings, it was exciting to look out for SRI's ratings every week. I think the sageuks following it will do even better!

I thought it was a mistake to air Awaken and L.U.C.A.:The Beginning back to back, but L.U.C.A. is doing well, very steady.

I'm ready for a new batch of dramas, but not thrilled at the lack of variety in genres, though some look promising.

@sailorjumun Sunbae has my heart too! They didn't have chance with the drama before whose ratings were less than 1%... But they have a little bit of buzz at least, their videos always are pretty high on naver.

Can anyone explain why there's no new dramas for W-Th-F slots? In my 7 years of watching almost everything in scheduled programs, this is the first time the slots have been this empty. Should this be a cause of concern?

Sisyphus (jtbc) & Hello It's Me (KBS) start this week in that timeslot and we also have Mouse (tvN) starting in a couple of weeks. There are actually 7 premieres this week so overall dramaland is doing okay. MBC are really struggling due to consistently poor ratings for the last few years and the pandemic, so have scaled back their content significantly this year. All the other channels seem to be doing okay.

It's Chinese New Year Eve on Thu, Chinese New Year on Fri, Sat. Think this is why the Wed-Thu shows prefer to premiere next week instead of dealing with preemption right off the bat. I'm just thankful they showed Mr Queen on Sat. I was half expecting THAT to be preempted too.. phew..

I look forward to this weeks weekend dramas competition. Penthouse, Vincenzo and Beyond Evil vs Homemade love story. Or do they air at different times.

Secret Royal investigator really tried with the ratings ,3.4% behind Mr Queen. And my heart goes out to Sunbae, the story is really growing on me.
