Little Boy - 2415k 19th February - so aggressive. such momentum. offf

Its very similar to revenge rally of stock markets. 3 months of slow momentum and them a single the typhoon in 2021. Even those 3 months were quite strong but now its far more cruel.

Little Boy such an apt name it is.

I was idle and thought to create a banner for our facebook page and did 1 and made it cover of my profile here. It was lousy job as i was unable to think much of theme of the cover aka banner.
For Japan - should it be tokyo tower or is it should be cherry blossom or something related to theatre

For korea - ???? Han river n bridge - naah. alcohol - naah
food - yeah

For China - kings+fantasy - wuxia style - king's city or should i go with whitewashed faces

For Taiwan - 101 - is it important part of tv dramas? naaah.
So what should be i go with?

For Thailand - rural area - naaah. street markets - naah.

2020 - talked about why i don't at SNS. I do am member of every well known SNS except apps solely for the reason of business.
In person i only follow - Investigative journalism as well as any astronomy related page, group, profile, media - only official and real ones.
This week i was surprised to see various Journalists tweeting about clubhouse. I was like what it is? another SNS app?Yes Clubhouse and they started tweet rolls on what was going on in there and as expected and as fast it can be - Chinese Cyber Unit nullified the app. heh.

Let's go back to linking gaming ids with real life person aka registering virtual profiles aka virtual identities aka virtual persona with real identity. way to go CCP.

CCP used people's need of online identity against them via law. brilliant. But we have different idea than CCP on this matter. We hold virtual identities as AI bots so even if virtual IDs can't have legal ramifications but they also can't go for any legal recourse. Same rule book, same mode of attack - similar outcome and good returns.
CCP in most basic form is very human. And that's what i like. Only facemasks deny the -ve of human world. They are the enablers and participants but act like saints.

The Lunar New Year is one of the most celebrated holidays in Korea (and east Asia). Visiting family, worshipping ancestors, eating traditional Korean dishes and taking part in century old traditions all come to life during this color national holiday. Along with Chuseok, Korean Thanks Giving, Korean’s gather with family members to honor their deceased ancestors, clean off their ancestors tombs, give food and drink offerings, and pray is are the two most stressful holidays for single children and daughter-in-laws (as captured in many K-dramas).

Dating and marriage are not individual pursuits but family assets. Although Confucian culture originated in China, many scholars believe South Korea is even more influenced by Confucianism. Confucian values emphasize the importance of marriage and carrying on the family blood line. Getting married is considered a social responsibility. But young Korean women are increasingly leaving marriage behind.

The annual count of marriages registered in South Korea has been falling for years, with around 239,000 marriages in 2019. That year, there were 110,000 divorces. 1996, 9.6 people per 1,000 were married and 430,000 couples got married that year. In 2018, the country’s marriage rate was 5 per 1,000 people and around 250,000 couples got married—less than half of what was recorded in 1996. Less than 25% of Korean women under 30 are married; a 90% drop since 1970.

Throughout human history, marriage was an economic bond more than an emotional one. Marriage was necessary to survive in agricultural civilizations, as children were born to function as family labor and defense.

South Korea’s fertility rate has plunged to 1.06 (world average is 2.5). Birth rate is 7.00; Death rate is 6.35. Population is in steep decline.

In sharp contrast, in South Korea, 40 per cent of people in their 20s and 30s appear to have quit dating all together. It is referred to as the “sampo generation” (literally, “giving up on three”) because they have given up on these three things: dating, marriage and children. Korea is still a very conservative country in terms of morals and moral responsibility.

For career women in industrialized countries, the financial aspect of marriage is not strong. They like being independent and self-sufficient. However, many may still be living at home because of high real estate costs. The economic pressure of living at home probably does not help single men and women. And when they get out of the house to actually date, their sexual patterns fall in line with marriage commitment. Only 25% of dating couples have intercourse in the first year of dating. Another 25% reserve relations until after engagement/marriage.

Those men and women who have enjoyable careers and social lives are content to not commit themselves to a marriage partner and the baggage of traditional family responsibilities. In recent years, single children under 40 have stopped making the holiday trips to their families...

Eye rolling side note: The more I educate myself of Korean "couple culture," the more I get bombarded by fan-based stories. This month, SYJ celebrates the 20th anniversary of her debut. Naturally, fans are happy for her long career. But many fans have sent her labeled "wedding gifts." Really? I thought the fan frenzy would have died down by now.

LOL. I have seen this a lot on social media, and especially this week, as I think there's a new CF release planned for Valentine's Day that features SYJ and HB.

I will say I'm less concerned about their privacy than I was a few weeks ago. If they're doing CF deals together, they know what they signed up for, and the vast sums of money they're about to make probably makes up for any fan activity they have to tolerate in the meantime. Cynicism and romance don't really go together though, so I'll just shut up now.

Your comment reminded me of the Hollywood "love contracts" which began in the 1920s where an agent would get his/her actor into a "fake dating relationship" to generate PR to boost their careers. The couple would be constantly photographed together at events, red carpets, joint commercials, etc. These contracts usually last between one to three years, and insiders claim they are still used today.

I saw that CF on my Instagram feed today, and it was so cheesy (cute, but cheesy. And can I just say, CLOY really seems to have a long lifespan). I'm with you: if they're doing a CF together, they definitely know what they signed up for. And good for them. They'd probably be the focus of intense scrutiny regardless, so they might as well make it work for them.

I saw it too, and it was cute but also a bit random, lol.

Actors have a pretty small window when they can really cash out, so power to them for making the most of this opportunity, I guess.

I saw it too. Probably underwhelming for shippers. It was filmed last year so one could wonder why Smart held it until after the New Year news.

This is why we need more career woman - and more infertile humans.

Had a stressful week both at work and inside my mind (those darned health check-ups twice a year always throw me off). Fortunately found She'd never know. Who'd tell that a mildly boring drama with pretty people wearing their a-game raincoats was all that I needed to soothe my mind 😂
And even better, I've got myself a 3 day weekend and Run on just landed on Netflix in my region, yay!

True, I was thinking of She Would Never Know fashionista styles! I actually don’t like Dan-a’s (Sooyoung) wardrobe style in Run On. Funny thing, I chose her fashion in Cyrano to write about for the Louis Quatorze handbag contest and won! Siwan/Seon Gyeom was (very) pretty in his red sweater in the final episode, and Mi Joo had a style that suited her. Sometimes I catch styles and other times in dramas I don’t.

Having no relevant background or experience in my job meant that I have to rely on other people to confirm that I'm making the right choices in my day-to-day. I get commended for not being afraid to reach out and for not mulling on time-sensitive issues that I can't solve on my own, but that has made me insecure and unsure of my capabilities as well as apologetic to the people I bother. I honestly feel like a nuisance at times, constantly asking questions when I feel like the answer is already obvious to the people I'm asking, but I just don't want to make mistakes that potentially have significant impact and I care too much.

Sunbae 2 called me out last night for constantly saying sorry. "Why are you apologizing again? It's better that you're asking. I'd rather that you ask." I've always been hesitant to reach out to him since he's busy, but the past week or so I had no other choice and I've started overthinking that he may already find me annoying. And so you can imagine the wave of relief that washed over me when he said that, bless his heart.

I talked to my bosses and they said that I'm doing okay and that I could do better and that I should be more assertive because I can. My teammates say that I'm doing great as a leader. And yet here I am still doubting and still skeptical. I was always unusually hard on myself from a young age and it's hard to let go of that mindset. But the thing is, Beanies, I enjoy my work and the sense of purpose it gives and the adrenaline rush it brings.

And so I'm trying. ❤️

Happy weekend!

In 45 years of working, much of it in recovering from near/flaming disasters, I can tell you absolutely, I’d rather answer a question rather than the aftermath of a mistake, especially a non-trivial mistake.

Take your final statement “ I enjoy my work and the sense of purpose it gives and the adrenaline rush it brings “ to heart. Enjoy the rush, and grow with your position. Soon you’ll be helping out the newbies.

Thank you! As much as possible I try to research first before bringing up a question so that I'm not completely clueless. It's a relief to hear that from someone on the receiving end of the questions.

My eyes were welling up while writing those words because it hit me that that's exactly how I feel about work and I should probably write that in a sticky note and display it in my workspace. All the worrying and the long hours and the pressure just makes me want to improve and hopefully make it to a point where I can also support other people.

Beanies I had my first day of college today and my dad came home and didn't even ask how my day went. I finally was ale to establish some routine with my work and finally be in the mental space where I could start studying properly. I've enrolled myself in an online course on financial markets so I'm excited about that. I'm still getting used to the extensive studying after months of nothing to do properly because I graduated school in 2020. The first day was pretty tiring and I need to quickly need to learn driving, it's just that I once saw the aftermath of an accident when I was in 3rd grade so that memory is a bit discouraging. I also I realised how I had completely forgotten how to hold in person conversations with people whom I don't know. It's like I had forgotten to pick up the little social cues. Anyway, I think I made some friends but I don't know. I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone so let's see where it goes

Happy Friday, Beanies! I hope you're all well.

Things have been rough for me. Work is hard, the weather is terrible, and we're now in the eleventh month of this pandemic in the US, and honestly, this is the worst I have felt in months. Even the usually cathartic crying hasn't been helpful.

K-drama though continues to be a bright spot. I just finished Marriage not Dating, which was both hilarious and unexpectedly poignant. It really hit the spot in terms of just sheer entertainment. Still watching Hyena, and I also just started Should We Kiss First? in my attempt to watch everything Kim Sun-a has ever been in. I was surprised to discover that it has both heart and humor. I also love the idea that there are still stories worth telling with older lead characters. After all, fans come in all ages, so why shouldn't drama, right?

Oh, and the husband and I have just started watching Lupin on Netflix. It's very entertaining, Omar Sy is extremely easy on the eyes, and I get to practice my French a little. That's three-for-three on my why-to-watch checklist, lol.

Lupin sounds good! We've been to Paris a couple of times and it should be fun to see some tourist hotspots. Just went online to figure out if I could watch it in family, and people say it's pretty sweary - but then, I live in the sweariest corner of a potty-mouthed country, let's just say that it's unlikely that my kids haven't heard worse from their schoolmates 😂 Anyway, besides language, is the series too mature for kids?

2

Required fields are marked *

Maybe? In addition to the language, there’s also some violence, some very mild sexual content, and some depictions of racial/class discrimination. But it’s not at over-the-top levels, and nothing on the order of what you would get on an American show with the same premise.

I’d say it’s fine for kids over the age of 12 or so?

Finally Friday, fellow beanies!

This has been a tiresome week to say the least. Upper management in my workplace has decided on remodeling and expanding our unit and hasn't really considered the working environment, like, at all. So that takes a lot of dedication and energy.

Me and the hubby finished season one of the Mandalorian. Great show, looking forward to season 2. I've also been watching a live play through of Final Fantasy VII remake on youtube. The vicarious pleasure is huge.

Since finishing Run On last week, I'm at something of a loss of what drama to watch next. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think I'm pretty much up for anything, except horror. X-files walks a very thin line in my case.

Been wanting to watch The Mandalorian for ages, but I'm facing some backlash for being overenthusiastic about The Star Wars when the kids were too small 😔 Last week they loved Space Sweepers (which isn't really as great as they think, but, oh well), so I guess I got a step closer to bringing them into the Star Wars universe (*evil laugh)
Taking your preferences into account, can I tempt you to try out some webtoons? I've been lately obsessing about The Red King (old gods in modern world fantasy, beautiful art, and a corgi), Paralell City (mean doppelgangers and a bit of gore, but great parkour art) and Omniscient Reader (er, apocalyptic gaming?)

Happy Lunar New Year! I've been eating my weight in Banh Tet, a traditional Vietnamese New Year food and one of my favorite things to eat. I found a local guy that makes them in his home and promptly bought a dozen and been giving them away and eating them since. These are so good browned/pan fried or can be eaten right away and soft. Otherwise, COVID19 seems to be dwindling a bit where I am, which is a welcome feat. Waiting for the new strains to make it here though and start getting people sick again. Vaccines are all coming, you can sign up at Walmart now!

Kids are all virtual all the time, and the school had to go back to virtual this week due to kids in the live-person classes having COVID19, and a teacher as well. Which was good timing, because a polar vortex came and settled where we are and schools have been out anyway--at least ours has virtual classes available to the students. I have a story coming about this.

Also because it's been cold, my family has had less inclination to go out, so we've been watching dramas at home at night. Started "Fated to Love You" a couple nights ago and binged several episode last night. My husband finds Jang Na-ra adorable and Jang Hyuk is more than entertaining throughout. What a great little drama! I'm glad we picked it up. I think it started with a YOUTUBE Ailee OST that led us to it, although I've had it on my "to watch" list forever! Am also watching two C-dramas: The Rebel Princess (period drama) and Unrequited Love 2021 (college coming of age). Both are keeping me entertained. Both pretty slow moving but I'm fine with that right now.

Conversation:

Daughter: I don't want to end up like Math Genius.
Me: How do you mean?
Daughter: Since school has been virtual, he's super bored and texting me to see what I'm doing--like ALL. THE. TIME.
Me: That's because it's just him at his house.
Daughter: I know! With brother possibly going to the math and science school next year and living away from home, I'll be all by myself!
Me: Well just text math genius back and talk to him; that way, if you get lonely, next year, you can text him like he's doing to you.
Daughter: But I just said I don't want to end up like him!
Me: Honey, you won't you'll always have brother and be able to talk to him too.
Daughter: But, random texts are annoying. I don't want to be annoying. Also, he's being a bully to my best friend right now, so I don't want to text him back.
Me: *thinking to self* I don't think math genius will ever think you're annoying. Also, it's because he has a crush on your best friend, but whatever, I'm out of ideas now.

Moral of the story: I'm about out of emotional IQ points with the daughter.

2nd moral: She's not even a teenager yet.

3rd moral: Hope the new year treats all of you Beanies well! Stay safe!

Happy Friday (it is Friday, right? I’ve been off all week...) gray mid-February and I’ve had it with icy cold wind. I just want to live where it’s warm all year round, truly I do!
LITC 16-I am sad for Rin-i, that Kyeong-jun reveals how he feels about her lifestyle choices. It’s not enough for him. But it is for her, so why isn’t that ok? Conformity is hard to swim upstream against.
I love Sunbae Don’tput on that Lipstick. So the wedding dress - I feel anxious for when it’s discovered it was Hyun Seung’s sister who cancelled the dress ( not to mention the complication that Jae-won likes Ji Seung) - this scenario feels like a ticking time bomb to me. I absolutely adore Hyun Seung, but can a person be too caring? I’m shocked at the super low ratings for this drama.
Hurry up spring! (What I really mean is hurry up sunny warm days!)

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

It has been a week of extremes, starting with the weather that went all Siberia on us all week.❄️⛄My poor poor feet!😬🧦🧦

After my parents last year it was my turn this week to strain my back. My sympathy goes to chronic sufferers, on top of the pain you can barely move around or along, because everything takes an eternity to accomplish. Yes, Turtie just said that.🐢

The day after my stomach was acting up, right when mom made her infamous lasagna!😤

The worst: I blinked and four extra formations appeared in my schedule for next week.🙄 The teacher in charge of the Thursday formation booked Tuesday as an extra formation day for us to prepare her assignments that are also due that day. I was looking forward to having a day all to myself to catch up on all the homework for all formations, since I finished most of her assignments already. A smart move, because she agreed last minute to let a colleague schedule his formation on Tuesday afternoon. “Tuesday was the deadline anyway, so you can make sure to have finished everything before then.”🤦‍♀️

First of all: some people depend on that day to finish the assignments without interruptions, because they lack the time to work on them. Secondly: only a couple of the students are required to take the afternoon formation, so some students do get to enjoy the full day uninterrupted, while some, me included, only get half a day.😞

Buuuut I said that it was a week of extremes, right?😊

Warrior friend is cancer free!!!!!🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
The treatment goes on to make sure it does not return but this is the best news I received in 6 months!😀Okay, no. That is not entirely true either, because….

I passed the exam with a whopping 25/30 or 83%!!!!🥳🥳🥳
Thank you all for the support and the brain cells, I could not have achieved this without those and without going through hell for two months first. I got the news from the teacher, so it is not officially confirmed yet, but I slept as a log for the first time in weeks after receiving the good news last night.💤

I went on the nextdoor app--the app for specific neighborhoods and put in my dad s address looking to learn how the locals are getting signed up for the vaccine. This woman--a RN--offered to go pick my dad up, help him sign up for a mychart account, take him to her hosptial and get him vaccinated and take him home again!
And amusing but annoying: I dont know if the neighbors have lost their netflix hookup, their heat or something else altogether but I have overhears them having loud sex more times in the past 2 weeks than the 4 months before COMBINED. Quite frankly it sounds a bit boring. She says the same things in the same order EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And all in all it lasts about 10 -15 mins. I could legit type up everything they both say in order. But my friend says that horrifying. Its not my fault! I dont want to be horrified! Netflix only blocks out so much!

😂 you have my sympathy. When I was at uni, my walls were very thin and my flatmate and his ‘friend’ were very loud. It was like listening to a bad porn movie on repeat.

About a year ago I moved for the first time in... well... decades. The first thing I said on entering my new apartment was 'Horray! No more downstairs neighbors!' The one thing I hate worse than being compelled to overhear people's 'conversations' is the idea that other people are overhearing mine.

The condition becomes the worst in our country, Burma or Myanmar.
Started from 1st Feb of military coup, we have been scared, depressed and hopeless.
.....
There have been Civil Disobedience movement and protests to reject the military.

....
The military dictators are. arresting democratic political leaders , student leaders, journalists and doctors who are participating in CDM.
....
But the dictators cant start the mass shooting yet because United Nations is observing.
They have been facing a crime of Genocide at ICJ so they dont want to risk adding another crime of human rights.
.....
So they are now using the criminals to supress us.
Yesterday prisoners from all prisons are released.
And During Night, the police and soldiers are illegally treepassing houses and arresting students and doctors who are against them.
The Criminals released from prison are
destroying public properties and people's homes and comitting arson .
...
The police and soliders that supposed to protect us are attacking us .
The criminals who seem to be under the influence of drugs and following the Dictators orders are destoying things , doing arson and killing people.
..
The Nights are not safe anymore.
We are gathering our strength and fighting them.
But without any armed forces on our side and under totally lawless condition, we are slowly losing our strength and hope.
....
So we are hoping the help of international community.
The Sanctions against dictators are not enough , we are hoping military intervention .
...
Although I dont want to ask for us, I wrote today because a soul who want to help us can save us.
We are tweeting the condition in our country as
#WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
and you can find our tweets under UNSpecial Rapporrter Myanmar.

China is. helping these dictators because they want our country Rakhine costal region as a gate to Indian ocean for fuel and food if wars were to happen.Their South China sea side can be blocked by USA marine force.
So if they get our Rakhine costal region ,they have geographical advantage in the war.

They mold us into modern colony.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope and pray that you and your country fellow stay safe. It is appalling how it is being overlooked in the international news media and Rakhine and Rohingya have been overlooked for a very very long time. I will look into the hashtag and share it on my socials. Praying that this scary time passes for all of you soon and safely.

I believe anyone deserves to live and have a good life (unless they do something terribly wrong to others.)

I pray for all the people to stay safe. In my country, the experience is very similar I guess. It's been ongoing for years now, and I hope it'll get better soon.

Life is too short to live miserably, and to make others miserable.

I'll pray for everyone's safety; people in my country also.

Just signed on to do another BeanieBox order but it's no where to be seen. Has the program been discontinued? So sad, if so.
