Drama viewership ratings for the week of May 10-16, 2021

May is starting to fill up with some great dramas. Seo In-gook and Park Bo-young’s comeback drama Doom at Your Service premiered Monday, garnering 4.1 percent. Meanwhile, Youth of May continued getting average numbers into its second week. Mine, which is also on its second week, showed a dip and then rose back up — though my own interest in the show failed to rise.

Midweek, Oh! Master finished off its run with 1.7 percent. The poor drama hadn’t gotten anything higher than 2 percent since its second week, and having read the reviews, it’s probably for good reason. On the bright side, most of our other shows are doing really well. Law School and Mouse are pretty much neck and neck, and Taxi Driver is still going steady.

I am so happy for Taxi Driver. I know it delivers vicarious satisfaction to the viewers (even I have been one of them). However, I find that it ticks many boxes in terms of writing, acting and production, so I would say it's well deserved.
I have been watching the last two episodes at the same time with Move to Heaven (what a gem that is, despite some tiny things - like plot holes - that I am definitely happy to overlook) made me realise what a good actor Lee Je-Hoon is. I mean, I knew he was a good actor, but I was not a fan. Now he is really high up in my top. Cho Sang-Gu and Kim Do-Ki are two different "people" from the haircut and how they walk to facial expressions and the "sparkle in their eyes". Although Kim Do-Ki "played" a couple of "roles" before that showed how versatile Lee Je-Hoon is. Now I want to watch more of his past work.

He was criticized for his acting in the beginning but he is a humble guy and he took it as productive criticisms and improved his acting.
No one is complaining now.

Me too! Ive been binge watching Lee Joon past dramas as I waited for the weekly episodes (couldnt stand the vharacter of the heroine in Where Stars Land so only managed a few episodes there. Like the actress but her klutzy character is seriously annoying and tge situations shes finding herself in are mostly stupid).
Lee Je Hoon is a really good actor and so pleasing to the eyes too. Also this weekend we got Move to Heaven on Netflix. Yet another excellent project in his resume.

Dark Hole is really just spiraling down the dark hole...

It is! I guess the Koreans are tired of zombie type shows after Joseon Exorcist saga. Also Dark Hole combining elements of crime/zombie/aliens etc is just too confusing and heavy. I just kept watching for Kim Ok Vin and Lee Jong Hyuk. Sadly even my main reason for watching get tested with the writer showing too much side characters back story than the main leads progress.

Go Taxi Driver go!
It looks like it's hard to go over 16% (it did it once...) but it has been maintaining the 15% range.
It's seriously a great show! I wish Dramabeans picked up this drama for open thread or we-cap if not recap.. oh well.
Lee Je-hoon's acting is phenominal! He is an amazing actor.
This Taxi Driver and Move to Heaven, this year is his year for sure!

And I don't know why MBN's Sat-Sun drama, Bossam - Steal the Fate is not listed here, but it is also doing great. Ep.5 was 6.3%!
I simply love that show. Great storytelling.

Great storytelling and honest writing of the characters according to that era. No Joseon candy hero or heroine.
Life was terribly unfair. It’s difficult to comprehend from our time.

And Ep. 6 rose to 6.5%! Feels great rooting for the underdog.

Praying that Bossam reaches 7% on it's 7th episode!

What happened to JTBC mon-tue? Cancelled? MBC is still failing when it comes to ratings. They only have 4 dramas this year.

MBC great strength nowadays lies in their variety shows. Some of their varieties have ranked 1st nationwide. I guess thats why they dont care much about drama ratings as long as theres PPL in those drama.

The latest episode shot up in terms of ratings though. Knetz are up in arms about the awful writing but they are still watching for the makjang elements. Ironic.

Imitation didn't make it on the list. The ratings are not high but it's an interesting drama about idols. As of ep 2 it'a not glitz, glam and polished. It's kinda slice of idol-life.

Keep thinking Bossam will break through the permeable outer membrane of Dramabeans. You're reporting dramas earning 0.9% for crying out loud. Oh well, it may become the gem that was ignored but becomes a part of everyone's top ten by year's end.

In case you're interested... Bossam's rating have been steadily climbing with 6.3% & 6.5% for this weekend's episodes, which is more than double the 3.1% it premiered with.

Is Bossam not mentioned because it's not a drama you guys are recapping? Their ratings have been rising for 4 consecutive weeks! It's pretty big, especially for an MBN drama

I assume it's because it's not on a major channel. No TV chosun or MBN drama has been included in weekly ratings on DB.

I hope DB starts to pay attention to the little cable channels because otherwise the ratings report doesn't show the complete picture. BOSSAM was the most-watched program of any kind this weekend on cable TV.

It's MBN's 10th anniversary drama and first sageuk, and so far it's exceeded my expectations.

I didn't follow MBN dramas but I do remember the 1st and only MBN drama I watched aka What's Up. It was a good drama. DB recapped it when it aired.

Imitation is on KBS and it's not mentioned either. It really could be coz it's a drama they're not following, both Bossam and Imitation
