Premiere Watch: The Devil Judge

Time slot: Saturday & Sunday
Broadcaster: tvN
Genre: Legal, mystery
Episode count: 16

I’ve got a good feeling about this one. Ji Sung seems to pick dramas that give him a lot to work with, and The Devil Judge is no exception — here he plays the eponymous character, a judge who punishes evildoers without mercy. His rival is played by Kim Min-jung, a corporate leader who has a lot of influence on society. Then there’s Jinyoung playing a rookie judge. He’s one of the idol-actors whose performances I always enjoy, and I’m interested to see how he does beside Ji Sung. To top it all off, The Devil Judge also features a futuristic, dystopic setting (yessss) and is penned by the writer that brought us Miss Hammurabi. In short, sign me up!

I guess I said in Vincenzo: I wonder a screenwriter who happen to be an active judge (Moon Yoo-seok is the chief judge of Seoul Eastern District Court) answers to the theme of vigilante justice current very popular in K-drama (also Taxi Driver, Beyond Evil, and many others--probably Mouse?). Law Schoolgave us an answer from some kind of reality. How about Devil Judge which set in a dystopian world?

Looking forward to it.

Ji Sung looks very fit, those arms! Lol, he just chose a polo shirt and said I'm good to go! Meanwhile, Kim Min Jung looks awesome in a colorful piece!

Dramas w/ anti-heroes/villains w/ revenge/justice aspects to it are def. the norm rn. I'm getting a bit tired of them ngl. But I do hope b/c this is going to be finished by the time it airs (pre-produced) that it results in a cohesive/full story w/o any writer clashes/dropping out like Taxi Driver/Vincenzo had towards the end. Still, promising PD/writer/real judge on board bodes well for this show. Could end up following tvN's very successful Sat/Sun lineup and be a surprise hit! tvN didn't give this to Netflix b/c they felt it had the potential to hit it big w/o their help. Here's hoping!

Looking forward to this! The teasers look good, a different take on the legal drama. I hope the Korean audience isn’t put off by the dystopian setting. Excited to watch Ji Sung play a devilish judge with Kim Min-jung as his nemesis.

Miss Hammurabi was boring but this show looks intense! Hopefully it will be great. Definitely watching for Jisung and Jinyoung.

Now I'm feeling sorry for that taller actress who didn't even get mentioned in the blurb. What is she, chopped liver with noodles?

Kim Min-jung is always great in intense roles like this. She's been acting since she was a kid and she always seems to be enjoying herself HUGELY whatever the show she's in.
