Fateful romance unfolds between Kim Yoo-jung, Ahn Hyo-seop in Red Sky

A teaser has been released for upcoming fantasy sageuk drama Red Sky. Starring Kim Yoo-jung (Backstreet Rookie) and Ahn Hyo-seop (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2), Red Sky is a Joseon dynasty romance between a painter with divine powers and an astronomer with red eyes. Gong Myung (Be Melodramatic) and Kwak Shi-yang (Alice) don’t appear in the teaser, but are set to have important supporting roles as princes of Joseon.

Kim Yoo-jung plays the painter with divine talent, and has her eyes closed at the beginning of the teaser as she thinks back to a childhood encounter. In her voiceover she says, “I have so many questions, but I will save them for later.” A scene flashes by with a claw-like hand surrounded by dark black mist.

A man hidden behind a screen takes off a black mask. Then the scene switches to a drowning, as the man narrates: “Even if I fell in love, I am already a dead man.” The copy reads: “At the crossroad between life and death…” More scenes of Kim Yoo-jung are shown, including one with Ahn Hyo-seop protecting her on the streets. Her voice asks, “Is it really you?”

A pale figure flies through the night, and a closeup shot of Ahn Hyo-seop’s blood-red eyes are shown. The copy continues: “… a fateful love begins.” In the next scene, he stares at her from a gazebo, wistfully asking in his voiceover: “Did you wait for me?” She walks away, but glances back. In her reply, she says, “I cannot forget you.” We get a flashback to their childhood where Kim Yoo-jung touches Ahn Hyo-seop’s face, and when we’re back in the present, he reaches out to touch hers.

Based off the bestseller novel by Jung Eun-kwol (The Moon That Embraces the Sun, Sungkyunkwan Scandal), SBS’s Monday-Tuesday drama Red Sky will be directed by Jang Tae-yoo (Hyena, You From Another Star) and begin airing on August 30.

Kim Yoo-jung is finally back in a sageuk, which I’m really excited for because I think she shines the brightest in sageuks. Plus, this does have the potential to be an epic romance, if done right.

In the pic of the youngsters I know Choi Seung-hun is playing the young Ha Ram. Can someone identify the actress who is playing the young Hong Chun-gi?

It could be Jo Ye-Rin who played young Koo Se-Ra (Nana) in Memorials.

Thanks @ayalynn123. I think the mystery (for me) has been solved. According to MDL today the part of the young Hong Chun-gi is being played by Lee Nam-gyeong. (I am sure she was not on the MDL cast listing yesterday).
Jo Ye-rin is indeed part of the cast of RED SKY.
Interesting. Both young actresses are close in age and to me after taking a quick look at HanCinema they have a resemblance.

I'm really missing Sageuks at the moment. It seems a very long time to wait until the end of August *sigh*. The Chinese historical dramas are just a whole different beast.

I like the author Jung Eun-kwol.
Her novels, The Moon That Embraces the Sun and Sungkyunkwan Scandal were absolutely fantastic. Way way better than the TV dramas.

This teaser.. it looks like trying to be unnecessarily super dramatic which I'm not so into.
Hope this drama offers something different from other sagueks.

I would love to read her novels, but I do not think they've been translated into English. :(

Kim Yoo-jung is the best- one of my very favorite actresses. The story is based upon a best selling novel and the PD directed YOU FROM ANOTHER STAR. This is bound to be good. My wife and I are looking forward to watching this.

This looks interesting. Kim yoo Jung is at her best when she stars in saeguek. Hopefully, ahn hyo seop's acting improved. The last drama I'd seen him was Abyss, which I dropped after 1-2ep., and I wasn't impressed at all.
