Sweat-inducing nightmares for Han Ye-ri, Yoo Jae-myung in Hometown

Mystery-thriller drama Hometown has released a new chilling teaser featuring Han Ye-ri (My Unfamiliar Family) and Yoo Jae-myung (Vincenzo). Yoo Jae-myung plays a police detective that’s pursuing a murder case in 1999. Han Ye-ri plays an aunt who is trying to find her kidnapped niece. Somehow, the two become entangled in a confrontation against an inscrutable terrorist played by Uhm Tae-gu (Rescue Me 2).

Uhm Tae-gu’s character is a student who returned home from studying abroad in Japan in 1987. As soon as he came back to his hometown, he set off a lethal nerve gas bomb at the local train station, causing numerous casualties. Afterwards, he promptly turned himself in to the police. For the past 12 years, he’s been in prison, serving out his lifelong sentence. The mysterious part of all this is that around the same time as the terrorist attack, other strange cases began to crop up around town.

In the teaser, Han Ye-ri experiences night sweats. Similarly, Yoo Jae-myung flinches as he naps in his chair. Han Ye-ri’s voiceover narrates the copy: “A place where everything is flipped.” A grainy television shows the outline of a country town, then a ghost-like girl upside-down followed by a gas explosion with a figure walking out.

Both Han Ye-ri and Yoo Jae-myung twist around in their sleep. There’s a reflective shot of a mixed tape, photographs referencing Buddhist practices, and burning lights. A dark, veined hand reaches around Han Ye-ri’s throat. Then, they both wake up, and the teaser closes with Yoo Jae-myung saying, “Hometown.”

Directed on Park Hyun-seok and written by Joo Jin, tvN’s Wednesday-Thursday drama Hometown will air its first episode on September 22.

My first reaction was to jump halfway out of my seat because, at this point, reading "Han Ye-ri" is like reading "free money." Then I read "Yoo Jae-myung plays a police detective that’s pursuing a murder case in 1999" and I thought, oh no, not another time displacement series! Happily, I can go back to anticipating the kdrama equivalent of free money.

Han Ye-ri will rate as a "reason to watch" when we get around to that post, but Asianwiki says show also has Lee Re, who lit up Hello Me and was the world's best teenage driver in Peninsula.
So if HYR is LR's aunt all is forgiven.

I love Han Ye ri. I bet this character is a very interesting challenge for her and her career. But man, how I hate a plot with police, terrorists, killers, judges, etc...
I pass.... My mood is not four these kind of things.
But I cheer for her. She will do a great job. As usual... 😍

Say Han Ye-ri and I'm in though the whole cast is great.

Is something going on with OCN? I know both OCN and tvN are owned by CJ E&M but this was originally announced as an OCN drama but ended up on tvN. Voice 4 moved this year as well.

Han Ye-ri is awesome and I would literally watch anything for her. The rest of the cast is also top-notch. This is shaping up to be real good (don’t disappoint me).
