Drama viewership ratings for the week of Oct. 25-31, 2021

This week, we added two new shows, both of them crime thrillers — Inspector Koo and Chimera. The former garnered 2.6 percent and the latter garnered 0.8 percent. Jirisan, our addition from last week, continued to have strong numbers, though it did drop to 7.9 percent.

We also said goodbye to a few more shows. Lovers of the Red Sky wrapped up with an all-time high of 10.4 percent, while Yumi’s Cells wrapped with 2.5 percent. Yumi’s Cells was reported to have multiple seasons, however, so we’ll be seeing more of those cute little cells soon.

Is it just me or is Jirisan extremely boring? I'm not even surprised the ratings fell but wow 3% is something.

Actually, you saw it wrongly. It was Episode 3 with rating 7.9% . Not 3% for rating . But gladly it went back to 9.4% in Episode 4! My mum and I enjoy watching it though; maybe to each his own :)

Boring? Usually the first four episode of kdrama are not the best episodes to determine the quality of the drama. There are dramas that gives that image but ultimately walk away with more than 10% at the end, like Vincenzo and so on. Besides there are now more competitions from ocn, sbs and jtbc.

I like all the actors, I like the writer, but can't seem to get into it.

Can we talk about the absolute disaster that is Chimera's ratings? It wouldn't catch my attention if it didn't star Park Hae Soo who's ultra hot off Squid Game super success. Yet absolutely no interest in this drama. Perhaps one crime solver too many?

It was a scandal-ridden drama filmed in 2019 that OCN seems to be burning off now because Park Hae-soo was in Squid Game. It doesn't seem like OCN promoted it much in Korea.

Glad to see Inspector Koo added to the report. It might be a little too quirky for mainstream Kdrama fans but it is intriguing. Love the selectively mute sidekick and the gamer motifs. Not seeing many parallels with Killing Eve except for two FLs who are flip sides of the same obsessive coin. Kudos to the writing/production and acting teams on the first two episodes. Hope it's a 12, not a 16 ep series.

It is 12 episodes!

I really enjoyed the premiere week and I’m glad the ratings held steady for the two episodes. Love that all our main players are women, and they all subvert your typical female drama character archetypes. Seeing Kim Hae-sook as practically a mob boss is a delight!

And yes, the most prominent male character being a mute softboi is 💯

I hope Yumi's cells did well at Tving because this show is a gem. If I'm not wrong it airs first on Tving and then late at night on Tvn so that could explain the sub par ratings because given how the show was, I would also like to watch it as soon as a new episode releases.
