Morning, beanies!

I had a language tutor ask me about our legends around the Grim Reaper, and I really couldn't think of any. Does anyone have any stories around a grim reaper? Does the Goblin fit, or is it more along the lines of the spirit collectors in Arangs Magistrate?

BTW, still the coolest rap song for an OST

Weather - I'm awaiting heavy rains and then clouds popup. smile. 15inutes in skies are clear. Rainy clouds are too kind to this town.
All nearby region are getting full on rain blast.
Good is air is now much more soft and cool and less pollution.

Autumn is the season when many feel less energy - yup that point.
Hehe. I never felt that point. Maybe maybe in later part of life i might be able to experience that feeling. I'm not much interested in that feeling, though.

Time to move on from weather as well as season to sports and politics.

Seems like i won't get much time for fiction this month.

Financial week was good to rough to how - heh. I was right and knew direction has changed. Instead of being more flexible - and go with new view which was so accurate - I took the stance of 1st view - Well, right now it isn't doing me any good but am surely enjoying it.

Side views are going pretty well in October as they were going in September.

Barely 2 weeks ago i had talked about that specific social media platform and this week it and its sisters went down and then were in news for other reasons and how they were doing this-n-that while completely knowing what it was. Mark always makes his mark.

I'm not much active at this sns but time to time check it and i think it has become more of marketplace now. Even groups have loose that value they used to hold before. More is taken by mobile apps and taking over Instagram was such a smart move. Instagram reels still not flourishing and tiktok still is pretty strong contender but i'm more +ve about instagram reels rise.

As for those who eat and believe anything on such platforms is what make them delusional beings and most of them are facemasks and you often see them as part of big fandoms and that's why i show least concern about them.

The latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary adds 26 Korean words or coinages, including "mukbang," "daebak" and "oppa."
The Oxford English Dictionary dates back to 1884 and is considered to be the authoritative glossary of the English language. The BBC said Korea's influence "has reached the Oxford English Dictionary."

Other Korean words that made it onto the OED include "hallyu," "K-drama," "banchan," "japchae," "kimbap," "dongchimi, "noona" and "unni." There are now 100 Korean words in the dictionary.

"This rise in popularity of [Korean] culture, which began in the 1990s in East and Southeast Asia, had become a worldwide phenomenon by the 2010s, driven largely by the success of various forms of Korean entertainment on social media and sharing platforms," the OED editors said.

I saw this on a Twitter post by CNN. I was tickled pink by how many words I actually know because of my exposure to K-dramas (I started watching around late 2017). I remember having to look up sunbae, oppa, noona, hyung, unni - "I thought their name was such and such, why are they being called sunbae/ oppa/ noona/ hyung/ unni?" etc. I realized I have been a fan of Korean horror cinema back in the 2000s though. "Tale of Two Sisters" was my first K-film and I am ashamed to say I thought "The Doll Master" was Japanese (I wasn't paying attention back then).

Korean soft power through their cultural exports is astounding. I'm only following their dramas and movies (only a little K-Pop) but seeing them gradually seeping into Western mainstream media delights me somehow. And now some of their words are part of the English dictionary!

"Korean soft power through their cultural exports is astounding" It totally is! They have been at work since years to only now see the result of it.

After watching Squid Game, I promised the woman I am becoming that I'll live my life right. I have decided to pay close attention to the person inside of me. If I'm in a situation just like those characters, is there any drop of humanity still left in me that will shape my actions right? What shapes my decisions today? Which one of these characters am I, Ali or Sang-woo? I found myself asking these questions and more. Only Reply 1988 and Squid Game has made me sit and ponder over my life this intently. I don't really know how to put it though, but I learnt a lot that I can't put together. It's my first resolution this year and I sincerely hope I won't let myself down.

i got my first dose (Pfizer) yesterday. I knew that it started with my left arm and when in my 2nd dose, it will vaccinate in my right arm.

Oh, are you supposed to take turns with your arms? I thought the injection site should be on the non-dominant side?

I'm scheduled for my 3rd dose tomorrow (I'm classified as high risk even though I'm in my forties), and I don't get a choice on which it will be, but it's either Moderna or Pfizer.

You are right, it does not matter which arm and you can get both doses in the same arm. It is recommended to get injected in your non-dominant arm because then the pain/numbness that you might feel for a day or two won't interfere much with your daily activities.

I had flu shot & Pfizer booster at the same time last week. They wanted to use opposite arms and suggested the Pfizer in the non-dominate arm because they thought it was likely to be more sore. They were wrong, but oh, well.
(FWIW, I'm eligible because of age).
I got the shots at a pharmacy because when I called my doctor's office (where I always get my flu shots) they said they didn't give covid vaccines and weren't taking appointments for just flu shots unless you had to come in for something else anyway because they were short-staffed and swamped. Yikes! So they suggested going to a pharmacy.
Too swamped to give flu shots -- in a part of the U.S.A that does not seem to be especially hard-hit compared to many other places. 😱

Got mine at the pharmacy as well, both shots. One in each arm, happily no big deal. Lot simpler, faster, no waiting lines, less crowded facility…it was disturbing since I’m in one of those southern red states.

Happy Friday, Beanies! Hope you’re all happy and healthy!

I have nothing of note to say here except that I recently started watching Dali and Gamjatang and I’m really enjoying it.

Happy weekend! It’s Spring here and I was really looking forward to my sister coming to visit this weekend, but alas Covid had other plans - she is in lockdown and cannot come. Still at least it’s sunny and FINALLY feeling spring-like. The neighbour’s plum tree is in blossom and our clematis has climbed up into it so it’s all pink and white and very pretty. I’ve been stuck inside with rainy weather and a sick child so I’m delighted to see some sun and some blossom.

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

On the K-drama front it is all romance, aaaand I am behind again. Honestly, with only one show per time slot a seasoned Beanie like me should do better.😂 In real life however, the thriller and horror genres keep stacking up. Every week a new fear to overcome gets added to the therapy homework list, while I have to keep working on the previous ones. Next week I have to call into work again, so I better stay calm and catch up on my shows this weekend before the storm next week!💪

Hang in there Turtie - see if you can take it one day at a time. Remind yourself that you are strong and look at how far you've come so far at this point.
And maybe the storm won't be as bad as you think.
Sending you lots of positive thoughts and strength. You can get through these times!!!

They decided to put in a love plot, why, I have no idea. Why bother after that. 😉

Happy weekend Beanies!

For the past two weeks I felt overworked yet it seems like I barely accomplished anything. Our CTO was on leave the whole week so I tried to review my own work myself from his point of view lol. Every choice I make, every pixel I change in a design needs a purpose, so it’s a good exercise. I was glad to receive good feedback on our presentation yesterday.

My friend stopped by and brought me coffee the other night. I was initially at a loss as to what to share about my life that’s not related to Hosplay (lol). Every day is almost the same. But my friend’s great at asking questions and listening. I managed to talk quite a lot about this and that. What will I do without friends like this? ㅠㅠ

The recent presidential candidacy news also stresses me out. This government has become so embarrassing…

Happy Weekend Beanies..
life is fun when you have some ofthe greatest kdramas to join the ride.. Dali is making my life funniest and lightest to whole new level.. I just miss it 5 days a week after watching 2 episodes.
.
other than that life is going ok ok.. Diwali is not far so started Annual Deep cleaning of house and it feels like whole year how much mess I was living with.. so much to clean and so little time. But hope I'll get it done before Diwali season starts.
.
Work wise all is good.. Learning new things, licensing, copyrghting and so much more other editing.
Planning to take a course for video editing (Diploma) as all the jobs (good named companies) they have it mandatory requirements to have "degree or diploma in video editing or video production" which I have none so I feel bad.
But then I don't find any online (good) courses to help me in it that too in my Budget....
so scratching my head till I find something matching.
.
But overall it was hectic week and hope Weekend will help me feel relaxed and then Red Sky will make me happy again.

I am in a grumpy mood, plus dramaland again has nothing to watch, I mean Hometown Cha Cha Cha, such dramas are not for me, Dali and Prince started nice, but lost its charm after 2 episodes, tried Monthly Home Magazine for something cute and fun, not interesting, give me another Beyond Evil or I will even take Devil Judge, something that has already been aired, so that I can lose myself in several episodes and bingewatch. It seems hard lives of chaebol families is currently especially trendy with all those high society dramas, interesting plot in Mine, two women married into family with money and want to take everything away from that family, I kinda feel bad for chaebol dude tbh. Where are the dramas like Because it is our first life, or was it last life?
Overall, I guess I am so sad and depressed that even kdramas can't help me escape from real world

Did you check our Yumi's cells? It's a slice of life rom com with adorable cells. Give the first 2 episodes a try to see if it's what you want to see (though the show really picks up from ep 3).No chaebols, only very realistic normal people, also extremely cute cells. I'm gathering you need sth addictive rn so maybe Squid Game can be a good option too.

the The Veil its grippy, thriller and twisty.. just that it's bloody n gory.. but rest car chases are added fun.
Devil Judge is great.. do try. I liked it.
And Lovers of Red Sky is good too.. its saeguk thriller suspense.. with very less of rom com.. so I think you'll like it.

I watched a lot, just from top of my head I liked Because its our first love, I need romance, love from another star, Something wrong with my family, Beyond Evil, Signal, Mouse, Devil Judge, Pinnochio are the ones I liked, there definitely were more, I just don't remember all of them, I had a big break from dramas though

Heard of Stranger, but for some reason it didn't click with me when it was released, heard it is a good drama, Prison Playbook I don't remember if I tried it, it was talked a lot I remember, good reviews, not a fan of IU, so I skipped My Mister and Goblin I stopped in the middle.

1

IU is a FORCE in My Mister. Watch it for her character. It’s not a show I thought I would have liked, but I think it would speak to your sensibilities if you like more serious shows.

2

i died watching the latest eps of Yumi's Cells. i dont know how i am going to wait till next week. he really messed up big time by not telling her that the girl who has a crush on him and is tryin to sabotage his relationship moved into his building. Woong is not dumb and knows exactly what Sae yi is doing.
