Chinese live-stream shopping influencer Huang Wei, known as Viya, has been hit with a whopping $210 million penalty for tax evasion and kicked o social media, reported CNN. Viya — also known in China as the "live-streaming queen" — was ordered to pay in back taxes, late fees and fines, the State Taxation Administration said on its website.
It's the largest penalty ever imposed on a live-streamer, according to the Chinese state tabloid Global Times, and a sign that President Xi Jinping's government won't be letting up pressure on internet celebrities anytime soon. The year of the celebrity crackdown continues to the very end.

From 2019 to 2020, Huang evaded more than 640 million yuan ($100 million) in taxes "by falsely reporting the commission income she earned from live-streaming platforms," a tax official in Hangzhou said. "If she can pay the tax, late fee and fine within the prescribed time limit, she will not be investigated for criminal accountability," the official added. "If she fails ... the tax authority will transfer it to the police department for processing according to law."

Huang had millions of followers on China's major social media and shopping platforms — including Weibo, online shopping platform Taobao and TikTok's China version Douyin — but her accounts were removed late on Monday.

At least a couple of times each year, I shake my head wondering if I have the wrong job when others are making tens of millions of dollars doing something arcane like influencing viewers. I do not follow these people but only learn of them when they hit the news, for good or ill. When you scale it up you get drastic results; China’s top social media stars must bank more than Hollywood superstars.

After 20 all holidays start - not for workers.
And not for who want to celebrate outside - not for those who will visit hospitals - Yeah - be less active and more proactive at home.

As a homey for me this time is always most comfortable one as well as time of lot of physical discomfort. Not easy to please me.

Let's see how much business white beard does this time around. he has to make sure economies run and turn from -ve to +ve. Everyone needs a boost a big big +ve boost.

I have always taken days around 25 as +ve days and more like a social days and its good to see that 25 isn isn't religious for most people. Thanks to business world.

Well, that's it for today - more heated up and warm approach for 2022.

Merry Christmas (eve) to celebrating Beanies and a Happy Weekend to non-celebrating Beanies!🎄❤️

Yesterday in therapy I listed some good things that happened this week, and it was nice to have little real-life drama for a change. Alas, there was also little K-drama watching.😤 With the passing of each week, winter break crept closer, the responsibilities list slinked and more K-dramas caught my interest. I usually ignore the November-December batch to avoid confusion during the bean count, but seems like the cozy, festive mood wins out this year. All I want for Christmas is undisrupted K-drama time!🎅

Has anyone looked back to award the *WORST* K-drama couple of 2020?

My award goes to 'Monthly Magazine Home'. Jung So-min had pretty much zero romantic chemistry wiith Kim Ji-seok. They seemed more like siblings than lovers. It didn't help that his real estate tycoon character would have been the 'bad guy' in any other drama. Didn't he trick her into losing her home and living on the street? There was so much that was wrong about that relationship.

Maybe yes. Maybe no. They surely didn't have enough sexual chemistry, hence deserving the award, but they did have enough chemistry to sell us a romance that made us wishing for an happy ending we never received.

In the Immortal words of Paint:
"We wish you happy holidays, whomever you may be. So merry Christmas, Kwanzaa, Chanukkah or heck, all three!"

Happy holidays, beanies! May your 2022 be blessed.

I fell down the 2PM rabbit-hole this week. I especially noticed the Junho fancam. Wow, he's insanely talented. 😍

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it! D

I wish that my dear Beans would have a relaxing and happy holiday. Christmas is such a wonderful time for me (and I’m living in a country that doesn’t even celebrate it!) so I wish that you all will have a good rest. The past year has been difficult for us all, we really deserve some quality time to slow down and to rest both physically, emotionally, and mentally.

May you and your loved ones be well, happy, healthy, and safe!

Hi beanies!
My mom needs your help, hehe.

She's looking for a drama that she watched in 2017 or 2018. It can be a drama from those years or before.

What my mom remembers from the show is that they were two sisters in laws living together one was poor and had like 2 teenagers (1 boy and 1 girl), and the other was rich and had one son that was sick.

My mom also said that the rich woman pressured her son to study and the boy was always nosebleeding and he liked his aunt more because she treated him better.

Also the poor in law was nice to her mother in law, but that woman only treated well the rich in law.

I have watched dramas like this, but I can't remember a name. And I tried showing my mom random pictures of family dramas but it didn't work.

If one of you can think of a name, please tell me ^^

I'm not completely sure if this is the correct drama, but based on the details provided it sounds very familiar to the drama Father, I'll Take Care of You. I hope this is the drama your mom is looking for.

My suggestion for the next Kdrama blockbuster--the story of Riverside, the first Koreatown in America. I heard this story on NPR while driving from Washington state to southern California. Sounds really intriguing to me.

My year end thoughts. In retrospect a number of dramas that didn't get good comments were actually better than we recall, especially compared to the high profile popular series the ended is a fiery melt-down. I'd say 'Doom At Your Service' was a better series than 'Mr Queen' based solely on the latter series very disappointing third act. Also, 'Nevertheless' was better than we thought, especially compared to the toxic relationship in 'Oh My Landlord'. This year the less 'popular' dramas held up better in the long run than the high profile dramas
