Drama viewership ratings for the week of Jan. 3-9, 2022

After all the festivities of last week, this week we welcomed some new premieres (Ghost Doctor and Tracer) and we broke up with Now, We Are Breaking Up, which finally completed its run (has this show been airing forever, or is it just me?). Ratings for Uncle continue to climb, Snowdrop continues its weird teeter, and it seems like all the viewers from The Red Sleeve Cuff have splintered off into the mists.

THE KING OF TEARS, LEE BANG WON is getting viewers and deserves it.

YOUNG LADY AND GENTLEMAN continues to climb in viewership- and it to deserves it.

LEE BANG WON previous episode ratings:
Episode 7: 7.4%
Episode 8: 10.2%
I am really enjoying LBW but I am slightly behind because of company over last weekend. To me it does have the feel of older sageuks and with no romantic element (yet) its viewing demographic is probably not the same as THE RED SLEEVE 😇.

I am also watching and enjoying MOONSHINE so on M/T I know I will be getting something a bit ‘light’ (a la SRI&J- before it went a dark) to contrast with the more ‘heavy’ F/S LEE BANG WON.

Young Lady and Gentleman is quite surprising. I was prepared to dismiss it, but it's been pretty good so far. Nice spin on a tired, cliche-driven genre. But please... give that guy a break! So many weepy women... lol

And crying kids from time to time also. Being a single parent is tough even if you are rich.

I'm surprised that TVN didn't have any drama to follow Melancholia. TVN was the only one channel that didn't take break between shows.

I'm surprised by Moonshine's ratings. The casting is more famous than The King's Affection's one and both of them are fusion sageuks. They started pretty well too, I thought they will do better.

TVN is actually airing Welcome to the Witch's Diner on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The first two episodes had ratings of 2.282% and 1.982%. Work Now, Drink Later will also have its TV airing afterwards. Rumor has it that Kim Ha-neul's Kill Heel will premiere after these two TVING web dramas.

Yeah, but TVing already aired Witch's Diner, it's not an original.

It's not the same.

This is a very tired and oft repeated opinion. Lee Hyeri is playing a much more serious role in this drama, and she's doing a good job. Haven't caught up to the all the episodes yet, but the premise is interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Casting is boring even if they are more interesting and it has more fluff than substance. At least, King Affection has substance.

I disagree. Moonshine as far as I am concerned is actually more serious and more detailed than The King’s Affection. TKA benefits from the intrigue and drama of a royal court with a ridiculous length for an equally unbelievable plot while Moonshine deals with people living through the alcohol prohibition. And no, Hyeri is not the jester here.

Snowdrop is averaging as much as other jtbc dramas did the past year. In fact it's outperforming Nevertheless, Lost and Inspector Koo in ratings. The plot is senselss and I'm starting to think the hostage situation is the entire drama. For all the criticsm about her acting Jisoo barely has any screentime despite each episode clocking in at 90 mins. Overall 9 episodes in but feels like nothing substantial has happened since episode 4. Even the reveals are predictable.

After School 2021 ends this week the WT timeslot will be almost empty. The WT slot is a ratings grave. Nothing performs in this slot. Don't understand why channels don't scrap it all together.

It still makes me sad that "The One and Only's" ratings are so low. Even though it focuses on terminally ill patients and the ML is atypical, it's a sweet, lovely show, not depressing (yet anyway).

I'm waiting to check out King of Tears but the steadily rising ratings are definitely encouraging.

Looks like Snowdrop is pretty steady. The show isn't perfect by any means, and I definitely didn't expect the hostage situation to last the whole of the drama (I thought the spy hiding arc would take up more time since it was obviously intended as the foundation for the main romance). But I do find it very entertaining.

Still trying to find "Tracer" streaming for US audience, with no luck. Perhaps under a different name? Anyone can help on this? Thanks.

There is an APB out for TRACER subs (legal or illegal) with no reported sightings.
(I am not totally without hope that TRACER might end up being available on Viki.)

@diana-hansen,
Will you be watching Kim Nam-gil’s THROUGH THE DARKNESS?
I am hoping it will be the first in 2022 of some great cops/crime/mystery dramas. 2020 was a banner year for this genre, 2021 not so much.

Thank you @db-staff for including KING OF TEARS! It's great to finally see sageuks acknowledged here.

Now, could you add it to the list of currently airing dramas please?

Show Window and Uncle don't have big names or budgets, but they are outperforming both broadcast and cable.

uncle is killing it in the ratings and deserved; 7% for a cable channel is excellent

Tracer debuted with a very strong rating but sadly episode 2 ratings went down. I guess red sleeve finale really boosted it.
Want to watch it but it's too hard to find the subs
