Looking for love and marriage in new promos for SBS’s Business Proposal

We’ve had a steady stream of promos for SBS’s upcoming Business Proposal, which will help tide us over as we wait for the premiere that was sadly delayed by a week.
The drama’s setup is this: what started as simple favor quickly gets out of hand when Kim Se-jung (The Uncanny Counter) agrees to help her friend avoid an unwanted arranged marriage. Kim would pretend to be her friend and, having once dreamed of becoming an actor, could have fun acting out of character and ruining her friend’s blind dates. Of course, their carefully laid plans go awry when the last date turns out to be Kim’s boss Ahn Hyo-seop (Lovers of the Red Sky). And, even more unexpectedly, rather than being turned off by Kim’s antics, Ahn becomes intrigued by her and proposes marriage.
The friend Kim Se-jung is trying to help is Seol In-ah (Mr. Queen). Seol’s parents had had an arranged marriage, but their strained relationship eventually led to divorce. As such, Seol is determined to only marry for love and her heart is set on Kim Min-kyu (Snowdrop) – Ahn Hyo-seop’s close friend and secretary.
The latest video teaser begins with Ahn Hyo-seop walking confidently through an airport before taking part in a company ceremony. Grandfather Lee Deok-hwa (The Red Sleeve Cuff) proudly announces a new project that he is entrusting to his grandson and Ahn is shocked when he learns what it is. We then jump to Kim Se-jung helping Seol In-ah and scaring off Seol’s marriage suitors. Kim panics, though, when she sees boss Ahn Hyo-seop’s business card and tries to avoid being seen by him at work. Getting a hold of Kim’s work ID badge, Ahn realizes what happened and admires her double identity act. The teaser comes to an end with Ahn Hyo-seop offering his hand to Kim Se-jung as he states his wishes to marry her.
Co-written by Han Seol-hee (Rude Miss Young-ae) and Hong Bo-hee (High Kick 3: Counterattack of the Short Legs) with directing helmed by PD Park Sun-ho (Greasy Melo, Suspicious Partner), Business Proposal premieres February 28.

Once again, Lee Deok-hwa has impossibly high standards for his perfect grandson. Some things never change no matter the era smh.
For real though, despite those wattpad quality posters, I’m excited for this. It looks like a hot mess, but an enjoyable hot mess. I could use a light romcom without angst and terminal illness nowadays.

Apparently not. Pandemic be damned, you WILL watch your favourite characters suffer painfully from illness. Or not watch a show at all. Doesn’t matter what we want. The writers really think they’re doing something.

Yup thankfully. Rooting for Seol In Ah, this girl has all lead qualities but probably lacks popularity. It's good that she's building up her resume in second lead roles even if that's what she's only getting.

I have been looking forward to this show in part because of the fine cast but also because I particularly love this rom-com set-up. The reason for this is because there is a real logic behind it- one that makes the Man's decision to marry this girl a rational one: Upfront he knows that this lady had to be someone who really cares in order to put herself in the position of substituting for her friend in order to protect the friend. That also takes courage because things can happen in this situation- like, for instance, the blind date being your boss.

Interesting. I also think Tae-mu admires Hari's courage. It sounded incredible to someone like him that Hari's unrequited love lasted seven long years, while he just did not believe in love.

Ok I will say that 26 is not old by any standard. She’s young. I can’t imagine thinking that being in your 20s (or honestly even 30s or 40s) is old. It’s just that she’s gorgeous beyond words. One of those faces I just get absolutely smitten by whenever I see it onscreen.
Times like these are when I wish an edit option was available.

RIGHT? and i know what you mean! have you seen special labor inspector? i fell in love with her there and during (unfortunate) semi-rewatches of SWDBS realized what a beauty she was. tbh i thought she was older because of the reasons you stated! and her voice is so lovely and very mature so i genuinely thought she was closer to my age. im feeling simultaneously old and also like i really need to lose more baby fat on my cheeks lmao. but yea shes really something special by presence alone

Yay for a mention of SPECIAL LABOUR INSPECTOR JO! Jo Jang Poong deserves more love here on DB. ❤ The whole cast was amazing... Seol In-ah and Kim Kyung-nam were dynamite together.

@ladynightshade it's literally so funny, sweet, and heartwarming (and bonus for being progressive but not cringe at all!) i love it so fucking much (and like @wishfultoki said jo jang poong—main char—is one of the best characters. he's one of my fav written male characters i think) oh my god if you're an easy crier like i am you'll cry. i will never get enough of thie show i've rewatched it so much in the last 3 yrs. lmao i'm so excited for you if you do watch!

I loved the webtoon, once I finished it I started it again because it was so good! So I can't wait to see if they captured its spirit in the drama: the main couple was funny and romantic, the second one was so cute and passionate and the grandfather made me laugh so hard!!! I can't wait!!!

Mon/Tues opens up for me with MOONSHINE wrapping things up next week.
SBS’s BUSINESS PROPOSAL (that is the title on Netflix US) will slide in perfectly.
Granddad Lee Deok-hwa is incredible. He gave an outstanding performance recently in THE RED SLEEVE as King Yeongjo.
I just went back in time to 2017 for the THE BEST HIT/HIT THE TOP (Viki US) as one of my Olympics hiatus dramas and once again he was terrific as a grandfather. He must be laughing all the way to the bank.

My god! The grandfather is my favorite character in the manhwa. I have to watch this for Lee Deok-hwa! Even if I'm not fond of the too young actors, I'm probably gonna watch this anyway. This story is just angst-free and simply cute and fluffy and amongst all the revenge and melo of last year, this is just up my alley. It's also kinda hot but I suppose that ain't gonna see the light of day in this drama version.

Angst-free would be very welcome considering the two angst-filled dramas I am currently watching: LEE BANG WON and THROUGH THE DARKNESS. I will be adding Jin Goo’s upcoming OCN drama A SUPERIOR DAY and that will be anything but angst-free (thankfully only 8 episodes, one episode per week on Sunday). Should I add FL&W which I am also watching? It seems some folks are experiencing more angst over it than I am.

I've started reading the webtoon and it's pretty funny! It would have been nice to see Se-jeong wearing the pink wig and mole like the webtoon character! I'm excited to see Ahn Hyo-Seop in a drama, I don't think I've seen his previous work.
