Drama viewership ratings for the week of Apr. 18-24, 2022

Weekend, why do you look so crowded? For some reason, rather than spread out their dramas into slots where they would have less competition but a smaller audience, networks have instead decided to cram all their shows in the weekend slots. We have so many dramas vying for eyeballs at this point, it’s no wonder that premiere numbers this week are low. What’s it gonna take to bring some balance back to the airing schedule?

I'll be suprised if there is any breakout show in the weekend because each drama is widely different and I feel they have all found their set of audience, unless one of it decides to go full makjang, but then Love ft. Marriage and Divorce is one such case and it isn't faring well.

All the shows airing on the weekend are airing at different hours or why the hell do they keep adding shows to these days?

Too many shows on the weekend. Only Again My Life, Our Blues, The King of Tears and Love ft. Marriage and Divorce are doing decently, and I think they could all do better if the weekend wasn't so crowded. No offense to fans, but something like Showtime Begins! strikes me as a drama that would be getting similar ratings no matter what days it airs, so why not try it on Mon-Tues? I'm assuming maybe ad rates are higher on the weekend?

Crowding the entire weekend slot is only making it detrimental for each drama to stand out. Maybe it’d get less viewers on other days, but there would also be no competition. I don’t get the logic.

The new weekender ITS BEAUTIFUL NOW is hanging in there, but this week's episodes dragged a bit.

KING OF TEARS is still good- final episodes should air next weekend.

Too many shows on the weekend? Perhaps or maybe that is only time people will tune in. I agree that this seems like a mistake.

OUR BLUES is watchable, and the ratings show it.

Even though the ratings for My Liberation Notes have gone up a little, I am still going to point some of the blame on JTBC. As much as I love this drama, it just does not seem to be a good fit as a weekender. I believe it would be rating higher Mon & Tues or Wed & Thurs. I almost want to save the episodes to watch during the weekdays(of course I can not wait until then... ).

I don't know. The ratings for JTBC's Mon-Tues slot have been abysmal, which is probably why they have left it empty even though they have stuff that could air. The Wed-Thur slot has been hit and miss, mostly miss. I think it would get about the same ratings there. Part of the problem IMO is JTBC airs their dramas too late at night.

Next weekend should be better with The King of Tears, Lee Bang-Won, Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) 3, and A Superior Day all ending this weekend.

Glad to see the double-digit finish for King of Tears, even though ir seemed to run out of steam about 6 episodes from the end. The absence of politics in the drama was really obvious once Lee Bang Won became king and all we're left with is the personal, which for me made the drama and the characters suddenly seem -- what's the word? -- overwrought?

In a very crowded field of dramas, My Liberation Notes is far and away the best of the lot. One of the signs of a great show is when the most powerful moments are when very little or nothing is being said. I was hoping Shooting Stars would be the fun light watch alongside Liberation but it eliminated itself with its very problematic African narrative.
