Drama viewership ratings for the week of Apr. 25-May 1, 2022

A handful of shows concluded this week, each ending on a high note, with Military Prosecutor Doberman and Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) 3 even breaking double digits. On the other hand, our premieres from last week – now jumbled into the weekend drama traffic jam — have struggled to find an audience. Sadness.

WEEKLY K-DRAMA RATINGS (April 25–May 1, 2022)
source: https://rypler.com/kdrama-ratings-daily-update/
On Monday-Tuesday slot (April 25-26), Crazy Love and Military Prosecutor Doberman hitted the highest rating ever with 4.6% and 10% respectively (the latter hitted a double-digit rating and even the top-rated Kdrama for this week’s slot). As both Kdramas had came to an end, next week, Red Heart will be the lone Kdrama to premiere on Monday-Tuesday slot.
On Wednesday-Thursday slot (April 27-28), Love All Play reached the lowest rating ever (1.5%, Apr. 28). While The Killer’s Shopping List premieres this week on this slot, Green Mothers’ Club achieved the highest rating ever (and even on this week’s slot as well) (4.3%, Apr. 28).
On the weekend dramas (April 29 – May 1), the highest rated Kdrama for this week’s slot (and the highest rated Kdramas for this week) was It’s Beautiful Now (25%, May 1). Other highest rated Kdramas for this week’s slot: third season of Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) ended with the highest rating ever for third season (10.3%, May 1) (the all-time highest rating of this Kdrama so far was the final episode of second season: 16.5%, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_(ft._Marriage_and_Divorce)), followed by Our Blues with the highest rating of 9.5% (let’s see if we will get 10% by the next following weeks) and My Liberation Notes tied the highest rating ever with 3.8% (April 24 and May 1). The lowest rating Kdramas for this week’s slot are Tomorrow (2.5%, April 30), From Now On, Showtime! (2.3%, April 30) and Shooting Stars (1.4%, April 29). And the two Kdramas aside from the final episode of Love (ft. Love and Marriage) who had time to say goodbye: the flop A Superior Day (how OCN Kdramas did not do well so I pledge OCN to stop Kdrama production anymore due to low ratings) and the epic The King of Tears, Lee Bang-won.

TOP 5 WEEKLY HIGHEST RATING/MOST WATCHED K-DRAMAS
1 It’s Beautiful Now — 25%, May 1
2 The King of Tears, Lee Bang-won — 11.5%, May 1
3 Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) (season 3) — 10.3%, May 1
4 Again My Life — 9.6%, April 30
5 Our Blues — 9.5%, May 1

Hi, I don’t understand what this is. Do you mean to challenge and counter this dramabeans ratings post or do you mean to add to it? Some of your numbers are the same, some are different by a decimal point or two. Is it that you’d like dramabeans to use your source for the ratings numbers?

Weekenders like ITS BEAUTIFUL NOW are really a different species when it comes to ratings. A weekend family drama will almost always show the highest ratings of any show listed for the week- even when it as awful as REVOLUTIONARY SISTERS was. The ratings for ITS BEAUTIFUL NOW are actually fairly average for a weekend family drama- the one which preceded it, YOUNG LADY AND GENTLEMAN, was a true ratings hit, sometimes scoring into the 30s.

Part of the reason for this is that only one network now runs a weekend family drama. Which means that they have something of a monopoly on this kind of programing. I happen to be a fan of these shows so I consider this something of a shame. Fortunately when REVOLUTIONARY SISTERS was running we had a great substitute in the daily drama BE MY DREAM FAMILY.

I would suggest adding an Asterix by the name of the weekender to highland this difference.

From the dog and from the prosecutor you expect these ratings. they are striking where it counts and they know who the consumer is as well as the issues came right from the truth of real life so far easier to attract the affected consumer. low quality, well delivered media. Good use of data analytics.
Rest is typical stuff and getting the treatment it deserves.

Good for Military Prosecutor Doberman hitting double digits!

Rooting for Our Blues to hit double digits next.

With Link not starting until June 6, I wish tvN had held The Killer's Shopping List for a week and put it in the Mon-Tues slot. It would have had a better shot there.

The writer of Love ft. Marriage and Divorce was obviously angling for S4 with yet another finale cliffhanger and given the ratings, she'll likely get it. I should learn my lesson and not watch another season, but it's like a trainwreck I can't look away from.

There has to be s4, they can't just kill of the hottie husband and left a pregnant wife like that.

I'd like to see Liberation get up to 5%. It's creepy slowly in that direction, and it's surprisingly addictive for such a quiet drama, so I think it can get there.

More people should watch Love All Play. It's a cute, easy watch but not stupid.

And Showtime Begins is better than I thought it would be. I can see why the audience grew from first to second episode.

It is good to see MY BLUES and AGAIN MY LIFE doing so well. Both deserve the love.

KING OF TEARS also got the love it deserved. What do you want to bet that studios are lining up to sign the writer to do another show?

ITS BEAUTIFUL NOW is very watchable, and the ratings should eventually climb from here- this is actually average for a weekender.

As probably the only beanie watching A SUPERIOR DAY I plan to finish episodes 7 and 8 tonight and be done with it! Four months into the year and ASD is definitely my ‘Stinker of the Year’.
Jin Goo, I stayed with ASD out of loyalty to you. You owe me one.

(Seriously, I would have much rather watched a drama about firefighters starring Jin Goo as Firefighter Lee Ho-cheol along the lines of what was presented early in episode one than what we got in this drama.)

I liked "Crazy love". Now I'm watching "Love all play". Nothing else has interested me recently. I am waiting for "Yumi's cells 2" to be broadcast in June.
