Can any of the Beanie Sunbae’s explain the revived 2017 test post by Mary which has popped up. I get the impression it’s one of those you had to be there moments, but would be good to know why everyone joined the movement to get it rated as one of the posts with the most comments. I noticed some of the Sunbae’s were joining in the fun.

I don't really remember but I think there was a massive update - on the then still pretty new site - going on at the time, I think for the now defunct Dramabeans Store and they needed a test post to work out the kinks. (It may even have been around the same time there was a mysterious temporarily available other interface of the site and the even more mysterious private messaging function that never returned but I'd have to go far far into the dregs of my archives to check if that was the same update or not lmao)
@mary was (still is!) beloved by all, and was the old IT beanion extraordinaire and did a lot of hard work to keep DB functioning XD (love you mary!)

Just watching today’s Mimicus drop and they referenced one of the actors wearing a modern day take on Hanbok. I had to pause to jump in here does anyone else remember we were discussing how it would be if they started to do Hanbok PPL when it turned up randomly in an episode of Sh**ting stars? Well now we know🤣

ALCHEMY OF SOULS hiatus may be more to do with filming part 2 than reworking part 1. I read a report that part 2 started filming about a month ago, but after its start the producers were still casting new characters, including Yul’s “ambitious” uncle. That does not bode well. All we can assume by the end of part 1 is that Mu-deok’s story ends.

Which leads me to believe the producers want more ROI (the sets, costumes, viewership) for more seasons as a “franchise” show. Hiring young actors as the core 4 Seasons makes it easier to sell spin-offs or arcs that focus on their character (ego is still a big part of casting). They don’t have to be long 16-20 episode arcs. Since you have all the thematic elements of Potter, Star Wars, Naruto and martial arts films, you can spin countless conflicts and sequels: The Rise of Master Lee, Jang Gang’s life story, Jin clan vs. Songrim, The Seo palace coup (after the real queen dies), a bigger villain emerges from outside the borders if there is an internal civil war, etc.

But what I like most about K-dramas is the format: clear beginning, middle and end. ALCHEMY has so many current moving pieces that honestly to resolve all them in the next 14 episodes will be difficult.

Have the second seasons of recent k-dramas been as good as the original? Do you want to see more seasons of ALCHEMY?

This would be sort of a tragedy for me. I have pretty much given up on other types of tv because I feel like they never know when to stop. You can create something great, and then because it's popular and making money, it drags on for too long and becomes something so much less than it was. I don't know how many shows I have watched like this. Maybe I liked the first two seasons, but after that things just went downhill. That's what I love about kdramas. You tell a story in it's entirety, and then you get out of there. If it's really successful, you can tell another story that is kind of like it, but with a different premise, a different spin, different details, different characters.

I'm not 100% against second seasons, and there are certainly shows for which that works well, but I don't want that to become the norm. Then you have to worry about whether you can get actors back, whether you have enough ideas/material, whether you will plan for another season and then get cancelled, etc.

Comic book stories are the perfect example of this to me. They go on for so long that eventually they have to invent wild scenarios to make all the disparate pieces fit together, and that's pretty much always when I lose interest. I think the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going through this right now, and I know I'm a lot less interested in these stories than I once was.

I accepted that Alchemy was going to need two seasons because it had a big story to tell. I will be really disappointed if they are going to use season two to tell a different/side story, or if they keep spinning things off from there. I just don't think it's possible to maintain the quality for that long.

https://www.koreaboo.com/news/south-korea-seoul-flooding-trapped-viral-car-man/ I found this article was interesting to me about the miraculous hero and even a survivor. This week, South Korea was flooded due to heavy rains. But one man did survived. Yonhap news reporter Park Sang-ryul was trapped by his car and he learn how to survived by standing on top of his car to report on flooding. Then it was viral. Netizens shot thie whole picture into multiple angles and even made fun with fanmade edits at Twitter including the fan-made poster for Emergency Declaration. I am so happy that Park Sang-ryul was now a real hero. Thanks God, he survived without any injuries.

Time for the next season - Autumn - The season where things get most balanced. Weather makes your even more proactive.

Heated days with high humidity with clean air cloudy sky - the most clear moon - It has even become difficult to look at it for more than few seconds. Clearly air quality is high.

Then watching the most brightest - in the sky 0 thinking is it a star or a planet. can't google - you have to think and think more. After days of thinking - i'm onto google.

Such a nice beautiful summer. 2020 was the cool one. 2022 one is full of energy.

Bright clouds are such a tease - everyday go above your city and then move ahead. little bit of drizzle every day. I like this the most.

I don't have much like for rain but daily slight drizzle makes things far more lively. natural bath.

2020 - was good and calm one - protest season is always up
2021 - same
2022 - is adding more to the action. The economic outcome of 2020 not went well with 2021 and now outcome is creating new momentum n to make it more appealing we have few trivial events here n there. Late half is protest season as usual. Let's see how it unfolds.

It's not that i'm always right - I just look at data and compare it with other information. I was such Boris will get through no-confidence but he let go the only chance he had and had to resign. You have to keep eyes on your house too. Here no one is your ally. common sense.

XI - needed agenda and he got one to come out of his little domestic troubles.

Orban played the game well - very much same as india. You raise the pitch and outmaneuvers others and deal with independent institutions and he got people to side with him. In politics you have to have the narrative and momentum and i think Orban has both - smart guy that gains more traction from foreign media compared to India's modi who has fared better compared to any other leader. Ofcourse them doing good not means common man doing good. More or less common man struggling while their keep their cheering groups in limelight. All distraction and good for fickle minds.

They don't have it hard - not for next several months.

Canning, canning, and more canning this week and into the weekend. My freezer needed a serious cleaning out, so I made a huge pot of mixed greens - spinach, kale, collards, mustard, turnips - and canned 14 quarts. Next I cooked 10 lbs of ground beef and about the same amount of ground venison, and I've ended up with 17 quarts of that, plus 2 pints of tallow and an unknown quantity of beef broth. I'll start canning the broth tonight after work. I've also canned 14 pints of turkey bone broth, 2 pints of chicken broth, and 2 pints of ham broth. Still have a little more chicken broth to can as well.

Lots of work but I'm not complaining! I love the sense of satisfaction I get when I hear those pings and see those jars :)

To some extent...the greens and ground beef all come from the grocery store. The venison is provided by my brother. Even though it's not 100% ideal, I work with what I have access to. Like my favorite homesteading youtuber (Roots and Refuge) says, I'm trying to make my waiting room into a classroom.

Sorry, I am confused about the value of canning products that are readily available in the grocery store? Is it to only eat things that were grown in their season so the damage to the environment is minimal and you are not dealing with the increased costs of eating out of season. Or is there another reason for canning. I assumed you lived in an agricultural environment so was stocking up on locally grown organic produce to eat it all year round.

I do preserve local, in season items whenever possible. But I can or freeze dry stuff from the grocery store for two main reasons - limited freezer space and in case of power outages or something goes wrong with the freezer.

We have a local grocery store that has really good sales every weekend. I will buy a little here, a little there as my budget allows, and after a time my freezer is full. So I make room by canning or freeze drying (my boss has a freeze dryer at the office and lets me use it in exchange for helping him do his freeze drying).

Then there are hurricanes. I live in southern Alabama - the latest hurricane was Zeta and we were without power for 6 days. We have a generator, but without a friend's help we wouldn't have had enough gas and would've lost everything in our fridge and freezer. And look at what happened in Texas this past winter.

About 10 years ago we did lose everything in the freezer because the door wasn't closed properly and it wasn't found for a couple of days (the freezer is in an outside utility room). And I know of three other people close to me who have lost everything in their freezers because the freezer died or the outlet went out. It happens. So what I'm doing gets that much stuff out of the freezer and it's that much I wouldn't lose if anything happened, if that makes sense. It's a type of prepping, just not doomsday prepping lol.

It was the Littlest One’s birthday yesterday and she’s now three 😱 I feel like that happened really fast, in my head she’s still a baby. It’s delightful seeing her growing and learning new things but also 😭 not too fast please!

It was a nice day though - it’s nearly spring here and my parents came to see us and brought a baby lamb (2.5 weeks old!) they’re hand rearing and it delightfully gambolled around the lawn and made friends with my kids (and me), and the kids got to feed it 😍 we always had pet lambs when I was a kid so it’s nice that my kids get a chance at least experience it for a day.

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

You skip one OT and August is almost halfway!😲Our family got the keys to my grandparents’ new service flat a lot sooner than anticipated, which has been a great cause for euphoria and urgency among my parents and their siblings/in-laws. Monday is a public holiday, so the move is scheduled for this 3-day weekend. I am excused for two reasons:

First of all, while my parents have been and will be taking care of everything involving grandparents and their move, I am making sure nothing at home gets neglected in the process. I cannot complain about being swamped, because mother unsurprisingly stays on top of everything. Still, babysitting my sister’s kids and cleaning the house takes up plenty of time and energy, especially while dealing with a heat wave.🥵

The second reason is that I am hosting a sleepover weekend for my best friend! After a couple of rough weeks and some rescheduling it is finally happening! The heat wave is an excellent excuse to stay inside and continue our Disney Classics Marathon with some simple Asian cuisine and the place mostly to ourselves!🥳

Im looking forward to a mega K-drama and viewing catch up when i get home on Sunday . But get this, I talked my two brothers into watching EAW and we’re on ep 5 tonight. They are enjoying it more than i ever thought they would, I’m so happy! And we baked banana bread together last night, made guacamole, grilled salmon, and sat around and caught up . We also took several hikes in the mountains, it’s been a refreshing visit.

I just found out that the more different I'm from someone the more I get exhausted from talking to them, and it's not because they're bad people or anything; it's because I think waaaaay too much if my answers are correct or if they can understand me (my POV).
I really dislike saying something and then having to respond a thousand questions defending my "life style" or wtv and then having people looking at me like I'm a sad little bean.

I prefer an afternoon chilling at my bestie's house just singing loop and talking stupid stuff instead of traveling to the most beautiful place in the world. I prefer people to places, that's my choice and I'm happy with it.

If someone asks me if I want to live in another country one more time I'm going to scream, for real. My family and friends are here, so I don't need anything else. I don't care if the country isn't great, I don't go out anyway. Jesus.

So beanies, what's up? 😂 **relaxing**
I'm a little tired but it was a really nice week ☺️ I hope everyone is doing well. Have a nice weekend!

Hey,
So glad you are taking this position and claiming all that makes you you, regardless of how others see it. So sorry you are going through this, but great you are catching it now and calling it out. It is so arrogant for them to behave in this way towards you. There are way too many opinionated people who act as if their views are facts.

Have fun with those who are important and love you and I hope you get to rest and recharge. Sounds like despite the challenges you got to enjoy life this week❤️

Extroverts exhaust me. I tell them 'Wherever I go, there I am'. Being in place X is really no different to me than being in place Y. The beach and the back yard have the same sun shining down on them. Going someplace 'exotic' is not going to magically make me 'exotic' by association. The only difference between relaxing here and hopping on a plane to relax somewhere else is the first doesn't involve a plane ride.

Hope you’ve all been well.

I’m in kind of a drama rut (not watching anything current, though catching up on some old stuff). But I am learning Korean now! Right now, it’s just informally and on my own, but next month, I start a formal class, and I’m kind of excited about it.

happy (saturday) beanies!
wow, it's been a really long time since i last made a proper post on the OT. about two years ago i posted on here for the first time, writing about how anxious i was with college applications and feeling isolated during the pandemic. crazy how much things have just changed in 2 years!

drama-wise, i'm up to date with extraordinary attorney woo!! this is the first drama i've really been looking forward to in a while and where i regularly watch episodes as they come out. i can't believe it's ending next week :/ idk if this is strange to say, but i was thinking about how i've been watching dramas for 3 years, and i wonder if my obsession peaked in 2020. maybe because i had so much free time on my hands? it makes me a little sad tho bc i think about how it seemed my world used to revolve around dramas (thinking abt how i haven't updated my spreadsheet in a while TT) and while i definitely still love dramas, i feel like i've watched most of the good ones already and that's part of why i don't actively watch anymore :( i think this makes me kinda sad because i met all of you guys and so many of my current friends bc of my drama obsession. i also think part of why i really like extraordinary attorney woo is because when i watch it i feel like the version of me from 2 years ago is back ◡̈

likewise, i've been at home all summer, but i'm going back to school next friday and i'm so excited! this summer has been ~~interesting~~, i saw some old friends, but things have changed since we graduated high school, which has also been hard to accept (honestly maybe all my issues just center around me wanting to return to the past 🥲). being home was also strange because i was dealing with my very first breakup and i think when i came home i expected to patch up things or restart my relationship with my ex, but it never happened. however, while it was painful at first, i got to spend more time with myself and jump back into old hobbies like reading, painting, and even posted my first song cover on social media, something i've always been afraid to do. months ago, i hated not having anything to do and being by myself because i would just wallow in my feelings and reminisce. i still struggle now and then, but i would say now, i enjoy spending time with myself and am a lot more independent than i was months ago. i still think about the past often, but i have faith that things will get better eventually. i'm ready to go back to college to start my classes, see my friends, and meet new people and move forward in life <3

hope you all are doing well, and wishing you all peace and love.

love always,
shachi

Extraordinary Attorney Woo has only two episodes left. I do want to see Jun Ho and Young Woo be together, that needs to happen, the story would be a useless waste of time otherwise, Kwon Min-woo could go either way, I hadn’t pegged Han Seon-yeong as devious, that was a surprise.
I don’t know how the mother thing will play out, Tae Soo-mi doesn’t seem like the type to give up easily, considering the lengths she went to when she was in college. I feel sure that both these ladies need a show down that is something I’d really like to see. It would be interesting to see who wins that little fiasco!
Jung Myung Seok is a heart warming man with great feeling and wanting the best for his colleagues, he’s someone I would like to see be happy.
All in all, I’m awaiting the last two episodes with great expectations (thank you Mr Dickens).
