Premiere Watch: Little Women

Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: tvN
Genre: Mystery, thriller
Episode count: 12

Reasons to watch: I think it’s safe to say that the Louisa May Alcott estate won’t be suing CJ E&M anytime soon — in other words, any resemblance to the classic American novel is in name only (literally). After I got over the sad reality of that statement, though, I got more excited for this drama and what it has in store for us. Most exciting is that we’ve got a female-led cast with Kim Go-eun and Nam Ji-hyun as co-heroines and sisters. All other things are subsidiary to that fact, but there are other reasons to get excited too: a stylish mystery-thriller, an underdog story, Wie Ha-joon and Kang Hoon on the scene as love interests (yes please!), the writer of Mother, the PD of Vincenzo — and it’s only 12 episodes.

TL;DR: Leading lady powerhouse combo, PD of Vincenzo, stylish mystery-thriller, don’t expect this to reference the classic novel

After a period of indifference, I'm now very excited about this! I love the photo that opens this article, and the behind-the-scenes talent sounds prodigious as well. Looking forward to checking this out.

Skeptical. I'll be waiting to see how the first 4 episodes go.

It is on Netflix, so easily accessible to me, will try for that.

Sigh. If it lives up to the expectations created by cast, writer & PD, then the fact that it's only 12 episodes will not be so much of a blessing.

I'd rather they keep the mediocre shows short.

As strange as it sounds, I am actually more interested in this now for not having any resemblance to the novel, than I was when I first heard of it being an adaption.
I, perhaps weirdly, or not, have no desire at all to see a Kdrama version of Little Women, good, bad or otherwise, and as such wasn't even going to look at this, but the deviation from adaption and the trailer grabbed my attention more than I thought they would lol.
So it'll be another "we'll start it to try it I guess"
Also thank God for so many 12 episoders right now; that surely is saving many a show from being 4 episodes worse than it could've been.

Yes, it’s like they finally woke up to less is more. Now a bad show at 12 episodes becomes ‘I will carry on watching as it finishes in a couple of episodes’ as opposed to ‘I can’t justify wasting another 6+ hours of my time’.

They've been waking up to it for a while now- the last three ish years will tell to that. But yeah it's just specifically relevant right now haha

It’s unfortunate that I keep finding myself trapped with the unnecessarily dragged out story lines. I always rejoice to see a shorter episode and season length. I prefer to be left wanting more.

The Korean title of Louisa May Alcott's Little Women is "Little Misses" (rough translation), "miss" as in the old term used by staff and people on the lower echelons of society to address the young ( and unmarried) female members of rich families. I'm not sure what the Korean title of Alcott's novel translates to, but I think the title of TvN's drama infers to the mysterious assets that Kim Go-eun's character finds.

TvN got themselves another hit! This one is special you can already feel it. The cast is superb, direction and writing, every is on point! This is what Kdrama has been missing lately. A good thriller! and it's not forced like that Big mouth thing, i had a hard time getting into that one. Little women is much better.

So far so good. I am just a bit uncomfortable with the way Nam Ji Hyun speaks. It always looks like she is holding something in her mouth. I guess she was born that way and wonder if there’s a way to change it.
