Kang So-ra and Jang Seung-jo wonder… Can We Be Strangers?

New promos have been released for ENA’s upcoming rom-com Can We Be Strangers, including character stills and a couple mini teasers of our story’s main leads, Kang So-ra (Revolutionary Love) and Jang Seung-jo (Good Detective 2).
The competent and honest Oh Ha-ra (Kang So-ra) is considered the ace lawyer at her firm, specializing in divorce cases. But despite her expertise on the subject matter, going through her own divorce put things in a new perspective and the journey understandably has not been an easy one.
Her then-husband Gu Eun-bum (Jang Seung-jo) had worked at the same firm and initially resigned upon their divorce. But perhaps due to his easygoing personality, he now shows no qualms about returning to the same law firm – even though it forces him and Ha-ra to become work colleagues again.
Although not featured in the latest round of promos, the cast lineup also includes fellow lawyers Jo Eun-ji (Human Disqualification) and Lee Jae-won (Dr. Brain). We also have the firm’s co-heads, Jeon Bae-soo (Extraordinary Attorney Woo) and Gil Hae-yeon (Trolley), as well as Eun-bum’s friend Moo Jin-sung (Birthcare Center).
The new spot teasers are really just quick snippets of Ha-ra and Eun-bum’s current relationship, and we get a sense of how comfortable they are with one another still, even with the dissolution of their marriage.
In the first video, an angered Ha-ra curses Eun-bum and calls him shameless as she attacks him with her purse. But the dumbfounded Eun-bum only wonders what’s wrong.
Then in the second teaser, an excited Ha-ra remarks on how they’ve become like real friends. But she soon has a different moment of realization when Eun-bum suddenly hits the brakes and instinctively stretches out his arm to shield her.
Both clips close in the same way, from Ha-ra’s perspective, as we hear her reflecting on their situation in voiceover: “For this reason, Can We Be Strangers?”
Written by Park Sa-rang with PD Kim Yang-hee (Our Blues) directing, ENA’s Can We Be Strangers premieres in January 2023.

I really want this to be a straight up rom com no ridiculous genre mix. Watching characters trying to manage life post divorce with each other and the colleagues who were friends with both of them and want to support them through the process of becoming acquaintances.

I was thinking when I first heard the title the ex wife was saying ‘Get out my life please let’s pretend we don’t know and have never known each other’. However, I wonder if the phrase is more about the husband say ‘How can we be strangers when we loved each other so much’, and this is what will lead to resolution by the end of the drama so they can be friendly even if they don’t get back together.

I love Jang Seung-jo and Kang So-ra so its a resounding yes for me, especially if they listen to @reply1988 and have a solid rom com without anything else thrown in. Make it simple please?
