News bites: January 25, 2023

  • What starts as an ordinary mishap becomes a scary nightmare when Chun Woo-hee (Be Melodramatic) loses her phone in the Netflix movie Unlocked. As seen in the newest posters, said phone becomes a central part of our story, allowing Im Shi-wan (Summer Strike) to gain access to everything. But, it’s not yet clear how his dad and cop Kim Hee-won (Big Issue) is involved. The mystery-thriller releases this coming February 17. [News1]

  • We have a sea of stills to get through today and SBS presented us with lots of Lee Je-hoon (Move to Heaven), our knight in taxi armor. Coming to our screens on February 17 as well, the crime-action Taxi Driver 2 co-stars Kim Eui-sung (Under the Queen’s Umbrella) and Pyo Ye-jin (VIP) with Oh Sang-ho penning the scripts and PD Lee Dan (Our Beloved Summer) at the helm. [Sports Chosun]

  • As Disney+ wraps up the first season of Big Bet today, they confirmed that Season 2 will be coming next month. Continuing the story with Choi Min-shik (In Our Prime), Sohn Seok-gu (Our Liberation Notes), Lee Dong-hwi (Glitch), and Heo Sung-tae (Bait), the first three episodes will be unveiled on February 15, with future episodes once a week on Wednesdays thereafter. [YTN]
  • In the newest stills for tvN’s Our Blooming Youth, we can feast our eyes on more Park Hyung-shik (Sountrack #1) and Jeon So-ni (Dr. Brain), along with a peek at King Lee Jong-hyuk (Bad Prosecutor) and the current Queen Hong Soo-hyun (Red Balloon). With the premiere just over a week away, the sageuk romance will finally get working on lifting our prince’s curse on February 6. [Sports Chosun (1), (2)]

  • Netflix’s rom-com Love to Hate You is just around the corner as well, premiering on February 10. With a jumble of tropes at their disposal, we should be in for a fun ride with Kim Ok-bin (Dark Hole) and Yoo Teo (Dr. Brain) bickering their way to love. In the new stills, we also get a look at our second leads and supporting cast, including Kim Ji-hoon (Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area), Go Won-hee (Revolutionary Sisters), Lee Joo-bin (Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area), and the ever beautiful Kim Sung-ryung (Kill Heel). What have they done to my Kim Ji-hoon's hair? Just say no to the curling iron, bro!

Still, he has a true mane of glory now. Before he cuts it, I hope someone puts him in a sageuk where he gets to play a warrior.

They gave him chairman's wife hair. Rich and mean mother-in-law hair.

@ysbee It doesn't help he's wearing the type of coat moms and prospective mothers-in-law wear in dramas.

I loved the hair in that drama, the only thing that saved it from complete disaster, lol.

I'm hopefully optimistic about Our Blooming Youth and will check it out just for Park Hyung-Shik, I think he's that adorable.

Will probably pass on Hate to Love You, unless y'all give it rave reviews, in which case I'll cave to peer pressure and give it a go.

But he's trying so hard not to be adorable in those stills! He even brought big gu... I mean, big sword to look all serious and cool. Well, until you see the kid playing his little bro and how they actually kinda look alike in a cute way... yeah, you're right, still adorable)))

4 - you can tell we're getting really close to premiere by how informative and spoilery promo stills became after weeks of vague "here's character X in a pretty outfit")))

5 - forget the "romantic" curls, what's with this awful reddish with yellow highlights hair color? Not only it's a rather questionable coloring itself (unless you're under 25y.o. with a perfect skin so this combo won't age you), it also a total mismatch with his skin tone (and naturally black eyebrows).

Enjoying Big Bet (on Hulu, thankfully) and looking forward to 2nd part. Excellent drama and the addition of the Philippines is fun.
