Meet the rest of the team in new Stealer teaser

With the premiere for Stealer: The Treasure Keeper right around the corner, the latest teaser finally gives us a look at the rest of the Karma team.

Joo-won (Alice) stars as the civil servant Hwang Dae-myung who also moonlights as the masked art thief Skunk. His penchant for stealing from the rich and returning the art back to the authorities draws the attention of government agent Jang Tae-in — played by Jo Han-chul (Big Bet) — who recruits him into his secret art recovery team, Karma.

Within Karma, Dae-myung will work alongside the badass detective Choi Min-woo, played by Lee Joo-woo (Why Her?), the police chief and resident muscle Shin Chang-hoon, played by Kim Jae-won (Our Blues), and his own personal hacker Lee Choon-ja, played by Choi Hwa-jung (Jealousy Incarnate). Together they’ll steal back priceless art that’s been stashed by the corrupt and return it to the view of the people.

The teaser opens with a masked bandit breaking into a room full of wealthy people and fighting off goons with a whip. No, it’s not Catwoman, it’s our boy Skunk, letting them know he’s “confiscating their goods.”

We then cut to the police side of team Karma donning disguises, kicking butt, and looking fabulous. As Tae-in says, “We have no idea how much stolen art there is out there. But I’m going to recover it all. With Skunk.” To which Dae-myung responds with some aegyo and finger-hearts. We end on shots of all five members of our epic art heist team as Tae-in closes the teaser with a wry, “Welcome to team Karma.”

Written by Shin Kyung-il and directed by Choi Joon-bae (Mouse), catch Stealer: The Treasure Keeper on tvN on April 12.

This was nothing like I imagined. I might have to check it out to see if it’s one I can watch after all.

I love art and art capers make for great Kdramas, and the cast alone is enough to get me excited for this one. The narrative sounds like it will be a good action-thriller to keep one on the edge of their seats. I may have to forgo my binge-viewing to watch this as it airs.

It looks exactly as terrible as I was hoping. Kind of like Healer meets Good Thief, Bad Thief: a weekender Makjang heist caper that will veer nonsensically into melodrama in its back half.
Happy birthday to me.

For a moment there, I thought it was Kim Bum in the poster.
