Driving through time in Run Into You teaser

With the premiere date drawing near, KBS has released another teaser for the upcoming fantasy drama Run Into You. In contrast to the ominous atmosphere of the previous teaser, this latest video takes on a humorously lighthearted tone, showcasing the hijinks of our time-traveling duo.

Kim Dong-wook (King of Pigs) takes the wheel as Yoon Hae-joon, a news anchor who takes an accidental passenger along for the ride when his time-slipping car crashes into a bewildered Baek Yoon-young. Played by Jin Ki-joo (Showtime Begins), Yoon-young is a book editor who struggles with the power dynamics at her publishing house.

In order to seamlessly assimilate into the year of 1987, our partners-in-crime (or should I say partners-in-time?) will need to appear as if they’ve been there all along. That means taking on new identities, and Hae-joon claims to be a certified educator — even as the on-screen caption points out that he is, in fact, not one at all. For that matter, his teaching certificate is a forgery, ha.

Meanwhile, Yoon-young puts on an innocently fresh-faced smile, playing the part of a high school student. Never mind that she’s actually a university graduate in the present time — a little fib can’t hurt, right?

As usual, lies beget more lies, and our pair’s deception soon begins to spiral out of control. It’ll take a concerted effort to keep up the ruse — Yoon-young slips up and uses modern slang about 40 years too early, earning herself a round of nagging from Hae-joon. In response, she gives him a playful fist bump, much to his exasperation. Hee, I like their dynamic already.

The teaser also gives us a glimpse of Lee Won-jung (Extraordinary Attorney Woo) as the young Hee-seob, Yoon-young’s father. Described as having a radiant smile and an energetic spirit, it’s not hard to see why he captured the heart of Yoon-young’s mother, who’s played by Seo Ji-hye (Love All Play). However, there’s someone who’s determined to interfere in their fairytale romance — Yoon-young herself. Mired in regret after snapping at her mother and subsequently losing her to a serial killer, Yoon-young is determined to save her mother’s life at any cost.

Yoon-young’s path will converge with Hae-joon, who’s investigating that very same murderer. Hmm, I wonder if Hee-seob’s detective uncle Dong-shik — played by Choi Young-woo (The Silent Sea) — will join hands with them in uncovering the truth?

The rest of the drama is also filled out by a diverse cast, ranging from veteran Kim Jung-young (The Glory) to musical actor Hong Seung-ahn. I’m certainly excited to see where this journey takes us!

Directed by Kang Soo-yeon (Tale of Nokdu, Ghost Detective) and Lee Woong-hee, with scripts written by by Baek So-yeon (Tale of Nokdu), Run Into You premieres on May 1.

I'll try anything with Kim Dong-wook. But serial killers in the midst of a time-traveling caper? :(

at least, it is not some random murdering going on in the background. The murders are the cause for the character's time travel.

I like the leads and the lighter tone of this latest teaser. With too many genres, I hope this will be good.

At least with this one, the serial killer IS central to the plot, and honestly, from the first couple of promotional images, I can guess that this one will be a bit serious since it's kind of dark and somber in terms of poster lighting and mood (especially that poster with the car).

Somehow the premise also makes me think of Someday or One Day, hopefully, it is a good thing.

Oooh, I thought this drama will be all serious and dark. Nice that there'll be some lighter moments.

Would love to see some good teamwork from the leads and maybe forming a team with people from the past.

Anything for Kim Dong-wook. I've been sold from the beginning and serial killers ain't deterring me from this one.
