Taecyeon’s Heart Beats for Won Ji-ahn in new KBS fantasy

The promos are kicking off for KBS’s new fantasy romance My Heart Beats, featuring the cast at the drama’s first script reading, led by Taecyeon (Blind) and Won Ji-ahn (If You Wish Upon Me).
Our half-vampire hero Seon Woo-hyul (Taecyeon) is a little bit like the heroine of The Little Mermaid, desperate to become a part of the human world and obsessed with trying all the latest gadgets and trends. In his quest to become human, he even tried following an old Korean legend, hibernating in a cave with only mugwort and garlic (!) to eat. Alas, he failed. But he is determined to keep trying and one day realize his dream of experiencing a love that makes his heart beat.
Enter the actual human Joo In-hae (Won Ji-ahn), who currently works as a contract health teacher at a high school, while also running her own guest house. Having experienced money insecurity from childhood, she has a hardened outlook on life and comes across as cold-blooded and emotionless. Through a series of dramaland events, the two end up living together and the story follows their growth as individuals – with some romance mixed in as well.
In second lead roles, musical actor Park Kang-hyun (West Side Story) is making his drama debut as Shin Do-shik, an expert in real estate development. In addition, we have the young-and-rich Yoon So-hee (Peng), playing a property investor named Na Hae-won.
Rounding out the supernatural part of our story, supporting cast includes vampires played by Go Kyu-pil (Shadow Detective), Kim In-kwon (Kokdu: Season of Deity), Seung Yoo (The Golden Spoon), and Baek Seo-hoo (Cafe Minamdang).
On the production side, directing is helmed collaboratively by PD Lee Hyun-seok (Hello? It’s Me, The King’s Affection) and PD Lee Min-soo (The Stain), with scripts co-written by Kim Ha-na and Jung Seung-joo. KBS’s My Heart Beats is slated to premiere in June.

This sounds great but vampires, WHY😱 Does the fact he is half vampire mean that one of his parents is human so relationships can occur between the two? I will have to follow via weecaps as way to scary for me.

Very nice of writers to solve the "but it's biologically impossible!" issue since the start, huh? Unless there is some dark twist about his mortal parent's post-conception fate later.

This teaser was awesome and was exactly what I had in mind. Either the PDs cast Taecyeon specifically for the meta, or the writers wrote the role specifically for him.

This feels so so kdrama to me. But in the best way. Supernatural ML? FL struggling financially? Cohabitation? Random real estate people? There's no way I won't at least start this. Unless it gets buried somewhere totally inaccessible, that is.
Also appreciating everyone's commitment to linking to the MV for "Heartbeat" or otherwise referencing it in every single article about this. Please let's never stop making this joke. I literally giggle every single time.

I have only seen two of Taec’s dramas and enjoyed both: THE GAME: TOWARDS ZERO (2020) (Viki US) and SECRET ROYAL INSPECTOR & JOY (2021) (Viki US). I missed BLIND (2022) because if availability.
Right now this will be a maybe for me. Downside: 11 year age gap between leads. Positive: In romance Taec does ‘sweet’ nicely. Leave the ‘heavy’ stuff to Junho. The age difference might not be an issue.
However, Won Ji-ahn’s character is described in detail and she sounds busy trying to survive. What’s Taec’s character doing besides sleeping all day and coming out at night. I am not sure how these two can hit it off.

This sounds ridiculous and I am here for it. Half of last year's dramas would have been improved by vampires - and so far there are no serial killers in sight in this one. Zombie Detective-style comic horror plus cohabitation plus all the sly 2PM meta in the world? Could be a dream come true.

I think Taecyeon is contractually obligated to make at least one heavy 2PM meta joke out of his acting roles and I hope that never stops. This is the exact kind of kdrama ridiculousness I was looking for.

I love this actress, she is insanely pretty (which was like a 1/4 of her backstory in Wish Upon Me), but it seems she's destined to get the cold female characters huh
also it seems a lot of dramas are vampire themed recently: Unknown (jdrama), Tooth Pari (Indian) and now this XD

I'm Happy camper! Been waiting for Taecyeon's next project. Love the concept of the vampire. Its right up my alley and I can't wait to see how he will interpret and play the character. He's one of the idol/actors that improved quickly in his acting and I enjoy watching him.
