I could listen these two men talk to each other about absolutely nothing all day. They don’t need to pummel each other or anyone else to hold my attention.

Ooh. Sounds like they have really good banter. Which tells me the bromance is strong with this one. I'm going to watch it when I'm done with my current binge.

The thing i loved the most is Woo Do Hwan as an actor...
first couple of episodes of building up GW and WJ bonding... their antics, banter is so fun to watch
then the OG gang.. Choi Tae Ho, Du Gyeong and 3rd ahjussi
lastly.. the very last 15 20 mints... such satisfying ending... seeing the culprit getting its due made me happy.
also helped me tone down my anger, frustration, that i tried to control for last 4 episodes of this so called revenge drama.
I never saw such kind of stupid Revenge drama where no plans are made, no thinking is done, no analysis of consequences, everyone is all headstrong and jumping into well of fire without even thinking they cant stand a chance in front of KMG. and i hate this drama for killing the last knifers so mercilessly and also Choi Tae Ho....
also yes how senselessly both GW n WJ always ready to fight it out.. and it was such crazy logicless fight everytime they could beat those 30 armed men... wowwwwww...
am damn irritated frustrated angry with this show.
glad ending managed to make it up otherwise i would have wasted my 8 hours...
Woo Do Hwan.. boy you are so so so great acting.. keep it up. sky is the limit for you and am waiting for some dramas where you could show case your acting skills even better.

Ermagish glad someone said it. The level of stupidity…these people were rich and resourced and SOOOO ill prepared. The number of facepalms. Oooonly the cute characters and good acting made up for the sheer stupidity and had me watching to the end.

I have only watched 3 episodes; from the review above by @kdramaswimmer it seems I should maybe not watch any more, but it wasn't only that review which kind of left me cold, though that is how the revenge dish should be served.

The concept of a team of underdogs with unlimited resources working together with their fists to bring down a powerful criminal organization is pretty cliched these days. This one so far doesn’t add much new. If I finish it it will be because the two boxers played by Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi are appealing characters, not-too-smart former Marines with hearts of gold.

Thus far there have been a few too many moments of forced bromance—I hate it when Kdrama writers are clearly saying to themselves—“and now we’ll show how men express their affection for each other by acting like 10 year olds” -- but otherwise these two make a good team with excellent chemistry. The grandfatherly money bags who apparently was once involved in loan sharking but is now looking to give back is also a little implausible, but perhaps more comes out about him in subsequent episodes.

The one thing that is missing in this team is an expert female computer hacker, which was something of a surprise. Don't they know that every revenge team comes with a beautiful woman computer hacker? That's been true since the Joseon era!

In fact this is really a male dominated show, and the one weak spot in the cast, and this is only after 3 episodes, is Kim Sae-ron, who so far is utterly unconvincing as the tough “granddaughter” who apparently is also an enforcer, although I haven’t seen her in action yet in these early episodes. In reading some preliminary reviews, I understand she was involved in a drunk driving episode and had to leave the cast before the entire show was filmed, so I’m not sure she’ll be around for too long. At least then I won't drop it because of her weak acting. (Not that I’m making fun of her as a person--its really sad to be involved in heavy substance abuse in your twenties, and that likely shows the pressures of celebrity, especially in Korea, where one can’t even date without causing a “scandal.”)

Anyway, as I said I’m not entirely sold on this one, so whether I finish it or not depends on whether I have to work overtime to pay off that loan I got from the friendly man who is now threatening to break my legs.

exactly.. and spoilers ahead.
.
you lack resources and you talk abt it so clamly (KMG has police and all big things in his pocket) and your man still go around bring Jang Do to his own shop to torture and not even once you thought KMG can have means to find it out..
that was plain stupid no logical move but pathetic.
i have seen so many such underdog revenge dramas and they do one well self analysis abt what they have what they lack and how to compensate it to fight the powerful... here it was nothing.... they just went all in without even talking what if it could go wrong, no backup plans.. i missed Kim Sabu nim and his planning....

Thank you for making the comment about Kim Sae-ron re the drink driving episode/exit of the show.
I did wonder why she disappears so abruptly with only two episodes to go. It didn't make sense with her character line, being a vigilante to get the bad guys (which was so unbelievable, she was miscast for that role) and yet she didn't want revenge for her 'grandfather'.
Then we get another random female character plonked into the show who is' unsurprisingly' an archery whiz but couldn't really pull that off either.
I finished it but was ff through the last couple of episodes as there really was a minimal plot line.
The first few episodes were the strongest and the fight scenes were very well done.
Woo Do Hwan, Lee Sang Yi and baddie Park Sung Woong really were the heart of the show. I appreciate how hard the boys must have trained to get their bodies in such good condition.

Yes, I completely agree with you, both about the heart of the show and the first few episodes!

I don't know where to start or what to say. Well, I liked the show. I thought it was thrilling and well done. I thought the fighting scenes were REALLY well choreographed. There were times when they did those squat walk type moves while they did the punching and just watching them made my legs hurts haha. I'm not even into boxing or fighting but they made it look so cool that it totally seemed like a good activity, whether training professionally or as a hobby. I really liked the friendship between the guys. I still don't completely understand the Korean hiearchy. First there was the age which resulted in the change in speech and then it was the marine ranking/class which changed it again. Does military rank/class supercede age?

Speaking of the military, the show also felt a bit like it could be a recruitment for the Marines. So much instant comraderie and respect amongst the guys once they found out they were apart of the same branch. I think the old man in the wheelchair even asked for Marines (but I don't remember).

I think pretty much everything about this show worked; from the casting to the performances, and the direction.

Eye candy! My goodness, the fruits of the actors' training was on display in the final episode or two. Quite impressive indeed.

I liked that the show felt like a complete story. It's sad that people had to die but then it also felt fitting for their arcs. Truly bittersweet and sad fact of life when dealing with such cruel and greedy people.

SPOILER ALERT!
The show is awesome and everybody has done an excellent job but I can't ignore the few unrealistic moments there are so many people who died from our hero's side and not a single person died from the villain's side. The reason for that is they are just overconfident adults who think they will take care of anything with their knife skills, it took ages for them to decide to move money from the bookstore and secondly getting all of them drunk knowing their enemy resides in the same city forget about the revenge just worry about your liver. lastly, the man with a pregnant wife shouldn't you send your wife somewhere safe like GW mother if you are getting involved in this type of business, mannn you are staying in your own house what an idiot. No question, these idiotic decisions led them to death. on the other hand, our villain is doing preparations to tackle them even though he himself said he is scared of them.
But I did enjoy boxing scenes they are well performed.

So after all they went through, after so many people died...they gave all the money to Siwon to start a non-profit?

I really liked this, but that ending was not my favorite.

I thought wait, instead of giving individual people the money they need to PAY (money-grubbing) hospitals, you’re going to use that money to CREATE a hospital??

Was it going to be a hospital where people can go for free?????

Less good: the story is pretty predictable, I always roll my eyes when cars and motorbikes worth $$$ seem to be on hand at every turn, female characters have a very small role.

Great: the choreographed fight scenes - must have taken days and days to film these and they're top drawer. Acting - WDH never lets us down, LSY was excellent too, senior actors brought right amounts of gravitas to their roles. Bromance - it started a bit ott but by the end, these were two friends who would just do anything for each other. My favourite bit was when GW had finally defeated his nemesis but felt that he had sold his soul to do so; WJ gently reminded him that he could go back to being a boxer and that WJ would walk that road with him. So sincere, quiet and understated but captured who they had become to each other so well.

Overall, I really liked it. If you're a WDH or LSY fan, it's a must.

Fun show for those who like action. Plot is pretty derivative but the bromance, action and main cast keep it alive. It lost some of its tension in the last 2 episodes and the ending was a bit lackluster. (Not sure how it compares to the ending of the webtoon.) Overall, a fun, bingeable 8-hours!

So, Kim Myung Gil literally just straight up murdered a pregnant woman. So. He should’ve died.

And, I'd watch a spinoff about the Knifers...
as long as it's not by the same writers, and nobody pulls out a knife they've been stabbed with. 🙄

This made My Country look tame. I prefer my doses of Woo Do Hwan (half of my Stabby OTP™) with less gratuitous violence and less gore. Next I'd like a reunion of WDH and Kim Min Jae in a well written drama that's a pleasure to watch. I admit, my violence limit was reached early and I listened to the fights then looked once they ended to see who survived.

There are many things I do like about the show, but the drinking scene in ep. 7 has some problematic messages, e.g. ability to drink lots is good, getting plastered is the best way to bond, and you're suspect if you abstain, etc etc.

The guy has billions but he cannot afford to build a vault in his mansion to keep his cash and gold? It was painfully illogical how he kept his billions in some run down bookshop where the logistics itself would've been the biggest problem. Don't get me started on how they could pick up a bag of gold bars by the handle and run with it.
