Na In-woo is on the case for ENA’s mystery Longing for You

Clockwise: Na In-woo, Kim Ji-eun, Kwon Yul, Jung Sang-hoon, Lee Kyu-han, Baek Jong-ok

A new mystery drama called Longing for You (a.k.a. I Have Waited a Long Time for You) is on the docket for ENA next month, with Na In-woo (Jinxed at First) and Kim Ji-eun (One Dollar Lawyer) leading an ensemble cast of six.

As police officer Oh Jin-sung, Na In-woo’s character is known for getting overly invested everyone and everything – always doing more than he’s asked, even when it’s unnecessary.

When the story kicks off with a serial murder case, Jin-sung gets assigned to a special investigations team, where he joins his good friend and prosecutor Go Young-joo (Kim Ji-eun). Passionate and ambitious about justice, Young-joo often approaches her work like a bulldozer.

In contrast, fellow prosecutor Cha Young-woon – played by Kwon Yul (Mental Coach Jegal) – is the cool-headed brains of the group. But he’s also the only son of the Jin-jin conglomerate and becomes a rival of Jin-sung, with Young-joo caught in between (booooo).

The charismatic Bae Jong-ok (Secret Royal Inspector and Joy) takes on the role of Young-woon’s mother, Yoo Jung-sook, who is well-regarded as the skilled and upstanding hospital director of Jin-jin Medical.

We also have Lee Kyu-han (Happiness Battle) playing the workaholic Park Ki-young, a correspondent for the prosecutor’s office and a friend of Young-woon. Jung Sang-hoon (The Witch is Alive), on the other hand, is Dr. Bae Min-kyu, the entitled son of a wealthy and powerful politician.

With filming already completed, ENA’s Longing for You is currently in post-production with scripts by Kwon Min-soo (Sword and Flower) and co-directing by PD Han Chul-soo (Again My Life) and PD Kim Yong-min (Again My Life). The series is slated to premiere on July 26 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.

Genre and synopsis don't really match the title, but oh boy, then I noticed FL and PD... It's gonna be a train-wreck, isn't it? Poor boy, he used to show some promise but these people ain't gonna help him to make any progress. And it's ENA! Should we start making bets how abysmal ratings are gonna be?

WHY Kwon Yul ?!? WHY the villain again? WHY not the main lead being the better actor? WHYyyyyyyy

I don't specially like the lead actors so I guess I will pass this one.

"Don't worry. He's the villain. He'll have more muscles to flex."
I'm consoling myself with that.

The personal booooo is deeply felt because again, why is Kwon Yool Must take another second male lead role in love triangle, and probably as antagonist too. I don’t see how this would end up differently than any same role he is previously taken.

Again My Life and One Dollar Lawyer despite its popularity both didn’t work for me. I quite like Kim Ji Eun though as an actress in ODL, but the drama as whole is just not my cup of tea. And then the writer is the one who wrote Graceful Family which also drama that was a hit but I don’t bother to watch further than 1 episode.

So much already I didn’t fond of about this drama, buuutttt … Na In Woo is here so I guess I’ll give it a go and cross my finger hoping this one would be a good drama that I will like. And also please don’t end up like his previous drama with Seo Hyun. Hopefully.

During Mr. Queen I liked Na In-woo a lot. He very much nailed his role. But post-Mr. Queen, I've not liked any of his projects. He didn't nail his roles in AAD,SIG or Jinxed. It was weak. I think he shined better as opposition than protagonist. Which is why I'm not exactly pleased with his role here.
Going against Kwon Yul, he's gonna be a weak link, and something we can't do anything about cause he's the one we have to root for?

I have no issues with Kim Ji-eun though. Pairing her with Kwon Yul would have made her display quality ranges than Na In-woo.

And, I can't ignore Kwon Yul, Baek Jung-ok, and my favorite Lee Kyu-han. I didn't watch May I Help You so I definitely have to see this one.

I think I was of the rare ones who liked his character in Mr Queen. For me, he was the only one who cared about the real Queen. It's his only role I liked. Not sure, he's ready for ML roles.

The description of Na In-woo's character feels super relatable tbh. I don't have the same history with all of these actors as other Beanies do, and accept love triangles as an integral part of dramaland, so I'll probably at least try this, depending on how full my plate is come the end of July.

Na In-woo's choices in scripts post-Mr. Queen and At a Distance, Spring is Green has been... questionable. And looks like thats not changing.

Kwon Yul AND Lee Kyu-han????!?!?!?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
