Premiere Watch: Bloodhounds

Time slot: Friday (single drop)
Broadcaster: Netflix
Genre: Action, crime, thriller
Episode count: 8

Reasons to watch: With the super-enticing cast of Woo Do-hwan, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Jun-ho, and Park Sung-woong, Netflix’s upcoming series Bloodhounds is certainly going to be a fun watch if you like stories of underdogs underdogging. Woo Do-hwan plays a promising boxer whose dreams are cut short due to his family’s debts and the predatory loan shark that won’t give them peace.

The story might be old as time, but with the directer/writer of Midnight Runners at the fore, I think we can rest assured that we’ll at least have a Woo Do-hwan x Lee Sang-yi bromance, loads of well-choreographed street fighting, bloody knuckles, broken dreams, and hopefully some twists along the way, too. And in a drama cycle that’s brimming with upcoming rom-coms, some mean left hooks are more than welcome too. You know, for diversity.

TL;DR: Woo Do-hwan x Lee Sang-yi tear it up as underground fighters

"You know, for diversity."

Haha, exactly! I'm definitely going to watch this, but it will probably happen somewhere in the midst of the three romcoms I'm anticipating later this month, and not immediately when it drops tomorrow. Boxing scenes are the most difficult action for me to watch however (I think it's how bloody their faces end up looking), so some of it will probably get watched from between my fingers.

Out of the three in the poster, the one I'll be scared to take a punch from is Park Sung-woong. Not only is his form ready for a fight, that supposedly harmless facial expression is a trap.

What's that aphorism? Age and treachery will overcome youth and skill.

There's this.
Actually, I don't know what the theme of the poster was, but if it is boxing-themed, PSW understood the assignment perfectly of all the three.

He wouldn’t have to punch you. Just loan-shark you to penury.

Good observation! Woo do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi look like they've been going to a boxing gym for a while, but Park Sung Woong looks like he first fought in the ring, but brought it to the streets.

I'm so glad this show is out after I completed all of the major kdramas. Boxing itself as a sport is hard for me to watch but after ep. 1 i think i can bingewatching the remaining 7 ep this weekend.
