I’d start with My Country for emotion and then Six Flying Dragons, to fill in the story.

Plotwise, Six Flying Dragons is a lot better! The cast is amazing and the battle scenes are awesome. But it’s soooo long, and although it’s not that old, it feels a bit old-timey… I’ve tried to finish it a couple of times over the last year – the story is really interesting and the characters are great (Moohyu 😍), but it’s so long and dense, and I kind of loose track again.

I’d go with My Country. First the cons: characters often act stupidly, and this drama just skates over historical events (when it was airing, someone commented that Korean audience is familiar with the story, and that’s why the show just assumes you know what happened to characters that suddenly vanish from the drama), but it’s actually easy to catch up with the story if you’re wiling to read an Wikipedia article, and you can also enjoy the show without extra info if you don’t care too much about politics… The pros: acting in My Country is also awesome (Janghyuk’s fan is a character on its own merits), battle scenes are on the level of a cinema production. And Woo Dohwan.

      Thank you!

      Just to add

My Country suffered from 4 episodes cut so the time jump can be confusing. You’d find yourself asking what the heck were the characters doing in those missing years?
Some important historical figures like Sambong are only mentioned.

Six Flying Dragons will fill those gaps and It’ll make more sense.
Buy a lot of snacks because it’s a 50 episodes sageuk but it’s worth it.
