Is anyone watching Extracurricular/인간수업? I don’t see much chatter about it. I’m about 4 episodes in and have so many Thoughts! (In comments)

First off the execution of the series reminds me of The End of the F***ing World, which I wasn’t expecting at all!
Given all that’s going in South Korea – nth room, burning sun etc, I am wary of the subject matter but I’m withholding judgement till the end to see how the show treats it.
I’ve to give credit to the writers for writing Jisoo really believably and showing how a teenager who knows what he’s doing isn’t right but convinces himself it’s not what he’s really doing. Kim Dong-hee does a fab job of portraying the class loser/nerd but he does equally well when we see him fray at the edges and all the anger and disillusionment bubbles up to the surface.
Park Joo-Hyun’s Bae Gyuri is also done really well in a role we’ve seen many times before – the rich girl with family issues who wants more, who wants different things from her life than what’s set out for her and quietly, menacingly, and without much compunction, gathers all she needs to have her way.

Also, it’s really amusing to me that the female lead is played by Park Joo-Hyun a.k.a. Jisoo from A Piece of Your Mind but the male lead is called Jisoo here, so whenever I see Jisoo in the subtitles I look to her but it’s not Jisoo.
      *Off to watch the rest*

I’m watching and I agree about Jisoo. It’s interesting how he has convinced himself that he’s just running a security service. He’s a pimp but he’s so awkward around the opposite sex. Kim Dong-hee is doing well with the role.
