Currently watching Romance of Tiger and Rose.
It is making fun of itself. It pokes fun at cliché tropes such as near perfect SML by stating “male lead belongs to female lead but second male lead belongs to everyone else” outrightly, unnecessary dialogs just to increase episode count.
It is cute, silly and fun.
I don’t know, I think the script is actually pretty solid! (but yes it is cheaply produced and is an idol drama lol) The script is cheeky, making fun of tropes while fully utilizing them LOL character development is great as well. I really do feel like all our main characters (the 3 sisters, the 2 main servants) are believable people with love and hate. The SMl is SO DULL but even he has some solid motivation (without personality). I also like how Qianqian is achieving a lot based on a combo of her personality, her knowledge of the characters she created/the script, and SHEER LUCK hahaha. Just sheer, dumb luck. All in all, the script is not trying to be anything life-changing, not trying to overcomplicate itself. It sets goals, and it achieves them, while entertaining us. I hate it the most when scripts promise things they can’t deliver (*cough*TheKing*cough*). I’m totally ok if the script is simple, but delivers in its simplicity (simple is different from stupid. Complex can be stupid too 🙂 ).
So agree Doku!!! Lately I appreciate it more if dramas don’t make me think too much and just make me crack up. Like it’s silly funny but not silly stupid it makes you want to rip your hair out. Romcom is always welcome to me….. and these two delivers!

I love how funny this show is and how well paced the plot is, even with the usual cdrama extraneous lines.

It’s sooooo funny! I’m watching more and more of Ryan Ding’s past dramas because of this. Such a great actor!
Zhao Lu Si is soooooooo cute 😍

Lead actors are good. They have chemistry. Without them it would have been like any other cheaply produced idol drama.
