Thoughts on ItsOkayNoToBeOkay episode 4

The theme pretty much centered around how much Kang Tae has been lying about his mental exhaustion in today’s episode. Moon Young brought out the issues he refuses to even admit that exists on the surface. Kang Tae had to take the role of the adult in the family long before he was supposed to. And he has essentially been on the run and lying to himself. He wants somebody to care for him, he craves love, attention as much as anybody else. He truly let his guard down around Moon Young before realizing Moon Young isn’t sound mentally herself. I think he was disappointed more than angry when he walked out of the car. Then came the slap and that made him explode. Like the director said, letting loose emotions once in a while is healthy. I do feel for him, in one hand he does like Moon Young, at the same time he is more than ever aware of the fact that Moon Young is not who he wants her to be, so he pushed her away. I can’t say I blamed him. Moon Young herself confronted her one half of living family. Its clear that Moon Young’s father himself was abusive or deranged to an extent. Even if Moon Young was antisocial, how does an educated architect think of killing her instead of getting her the help she needs professionally. Her mother is alive as well. I think her mother was the one peeking at her from distance. Its clear that Moon Young’s family dynamic was less than ideal. Her mother may have been loving but she does seem quite strange in the flashback. Her father straight up killed her once. I am not sure how much of the personality Moon Young has was from birth and how much of it was a direct consequence of mismanagement. The central theme was also about how children aren’t ornamental beings you produce to fulfill a certain quota, you shouldn’t have them if you aren’t ready to fully accept them as who they are. How much of Moon Young is due to nature and how much is due to nurture, I guess we will find out. Now lets talk about OK psychiatric facility. A mental patient chokes his daughter and not one of them ask Moon Young how is she. Moon Young at that moment by the way is laughing and crying like she is manic. You don’t need to be a Ph.D. holder to know right at that point that this person is traumatized and needs care and consolation. The only person who truly has shown some foresight in all this is the director. I am pinning on all my hopes on him that he will reach out to Moon Young and coax her into accepting the help she needs. Anyway now that Kang Tae has fully given Moon Young some spot in his tiny life, I wonder how things will unfold. More chaos followed by some sanity, clarity or just pure chaos.

      On director-
think he knows way more. .. been here in this city for long?

He knew JY and MG are related..
He seems to know MG’s nature – and he is keeping her here because finally she has sthg that is making her stay here willingly

Think the one peeking might be the doctor himself..
someone died..likely mom.. won’t make sense for her to be alive..although would be fun if she is alive

question is how is JY related to MG – doesn’t look like step daughter.. maid’s daughter?

      ******************
So many laugh moments, so much crying, so much sexual tension, so much of sweet romance, so much of heart

I loved that these episodes focused on parents accepting their children. The episodes showed that parents may love their children but not accept them. Zombie Boy showed the mother going to great lengths and making sacrifices for him but not accepting him for who he is.
