We really need to dissect the scene where Jae Su is like “Don’t you remember she like stabbed you?” and Kang Tae is like “Yeah, she did 😏” a bit further. Cause y’all, I have lots of thoughts.
Lol, I think saying I have a lot of questions is a bit more apt than thoughts actually. And they probably result from me looking too deeply into specific dialogue choices, as per usual. But…
I think I just wonder what the purpose of those specific lines and the delivery was? Like if they really just wanted to have Kang Tae thinking affectionately about a past interaction of theirs, wouldn’t the scene in his apartment where he touched her cheek been more appropriate? Instead they chose a scene that was dramatic and resulted in pain for him 🤔
It reminded me of their meeting in the first episode at the publishing office where Kang Tae said she reminded him of a girl he knew that had no warmth in her eyes. And when she asked him if he had been afraid of her—and he responded, no, he actually liked her. I remember getting big eyed and wondering if he was a masochist and had his own mental issues to work out in reaction to that.
I dismissed that idea after that episode, but this scene made me think about it again. I doubt the drama will expound on it too much, but I do think Kang Tae has a complex relation with pain (emotional & physical) and how he copes with it.
I thought the same thing about Gang Tae being a masochist when Jae su told him “you’re asking for it” after getting beat up by Sang Tae. Let’s see whether our question is answered or not.
I totally got the same feeling! I even posted some Gifs of the reminiscing scene you mention, and others (like when KT makes ST hit him to get him to feel better- and SJ, who overhears it, asks him directly if he’s a masochist, because “he’s always getting hit”).
I don’t think the drama will go very much into that (because, well… it’s kdrama), but the hints that KT somehow enjoys pain are definitely there. As I see it, it’s obvious that KT and MY would feel attracted to each other (MY claims they were “master and servant” in past lives, lol), but before they do a good amount of therapy, this relationship in a realistic setting would be a total disaster
