I interviewed him for the campus paper when he played my college a few years earlier. The Jersey redneck audience had booed the opening act right off the stage, the only time I’ve ever seen something like that happen. Mr. Daniels was appalled by the crowd’s rudeness. Truth to tell, the promoter must have been on drugs to open with a comedian. It would have made way more sense to open with a popular local country rock band such as Kinderhook Creek or Blackfoot. Those were the polarized days of “Disco Sucks” t-shirts. 😉
CD was a soft-spoken, down-to-earth gentleman, and a terrific musician and songwriter. I was utterly agog when he said that he was from Mt. Juliet, Tenn. One of my high school buddies had married a guy from there. Small world. 😉
The first CDB song I can recall is “Uneasy Rider.” I hadn’t heard it in a dog’s age until I looked for it on YT just now. Talk about a blast from the past. Another fave is “Billy The Kid.” Love the guitars on that one. Segue it into The Outlaws or Marshall Tucker and crank it up to 11.

Your line “I interviewed him for the campus paper” reminded me of “Almost Famous”! 😀

@pickleddragon,
LOL! Seriously though, he was very kind to a young journalist, and that made a big impression on me.
