Backstreet Rookie: a total and complete mess and the tragedy of why I had to endure watching it

1) Dae Hyun: His story in the show so far has been placating Yeon Joo and getting carried by Saet Byul in the sales while doing nothing concrete to promote his store. There are zero signs of his backstory and why he wanted to become a manager yet and so far he’s being so reactive in the romance it’s hard to see why he should be in any relationship.
2) Saet Byul: Her crush on Dae Hyun is mystifying since I can never understand how one interaction from 3 years ago makes an undying love even after she has interacted with him. Her propensity for violence is laughable and unrealistic in the real world and you would think her priority isn’t romance but ensuring that there’s a roof over her head first.
3) Yeon Joo: She kissed another guy with all the intentions behind it and ends up getting the privilege of dumping her boyfriend? Does she even know that in going out with Seung Joon, the power dynamics will be reversed and she can no longer continue being so entitled? Have we even seen her working or is her role in the story just being chased after?
4) Seung Joon: We have no idea why he loves Yeon Joo and he’s just making classic rich villain moves in the story
5) The other office workers: Waste of space
6) Eun Byul: Generally an okay arc for an immature sister without parenting but arc needs to be completed first
7) Saet Byul’s father: I just predict that the car accident that killed him was not an accident for some lame conflict
8) Ji Wook: Probably one of the bright lights in this show but he is designed just to give Saet Byul problems
9) Saet Byul’s friends: Waste of space: we already know the usual song and dance when Geum Bi meets Dal Sik
10) Dae Hyun’s parents: You exist just to give Dae Hyun problems
11) Dae Hyun’s aunt: Waste of space
12) Dal Shik: Waste of space: are you even a friend to Dae Hyun if you can’t admit your mistake
13) Yeon Joo’s mother: Being the boring ‘I disagree to your relationship’ parent and classic rich villain moves
14) 4 Heavenly Kings: Waste of space, honestly Dae Hyun’s father was enough to expose Yeon Joo’s mother’s past
15) Eun Byul’s bullies: I laughed out loud when they just disappeared from the story after they were no longer needed

Honestly I had a lot of reasons to drop this show from the premiere week (I shall not mention them since doing so would attract all the bots) but stayed for Kim Min Kyu’s cameo appearance as Ji Wook. Now I got sucked into watching the show because he’s set up to be a Puppy destroyed by paparazzi that was just haphazardly inserted into the story (which had nothing to do with the entertainment industry regardless). I have 0 idea why Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung would do this after their terrible previous dramas: they should fire their agents ASAP.

P.S. For those who enjoy Kim Min Kyu: he did an episode of Running Man (504), go watch it!

That was a very well articulated character by character analysis. Despite seeing a single minute of the drama I now feel like completing it in one go. And as for your dedication to watch Kim Min Kyu, I would to use this phrase in knowing Bros style- 아주 칭찬해/ I really praise you

It’s really a shame that puppy is only a cameo, not a love interest, although he’s appearing more and more, does this even count as cameo anymore?
