Yes you like kinda like lovey-dovey type that’s why it’s totally opposites from mine lol

Ah, we have a 20% share (WFKBJ and CLOY).
I’m not a fan of FMW, WoL, or 30/17.
The rest I’ve not watched. Tunnel has been on my list for a while, though…

Tunnel is good. It has only subtle romance which I liked the most lol.

Romance is not at all essential – and in fact, in crime dramas, I think it takes away from the meat of it all… I will get to Tunnel one day.

I enjoyed Tunnel (obviously) despite it not being what I would normally pick to watch (or maybe because it was different?) – I watched with a friend who doesn’t do kdramas and it sucked her in too…but sadly did not convert her to kdramas 😄

This exact same thing happened with my friend and Stranger too! I knew she liked crime/thriller types, and suggested Stranger to her, in the hope that it would help make her go down the rabbit hole (and thus, give me company), but as much as she loved it, she didn’t convert. Sigh.

It’s more fun if we had bff to talk about shows we like and watch it together, right?

Definitely, I think I have finally won my sister round and it’s so good having a real life drama watching buddy.

Exactly. I have tried all kinds of tactics with my friends. To one, who likes masala Bollywood films, I suggested Healer; to another who likes rom-coms, I suggested WFKBJ; to this one, I suggested, Stranger… So many tries, no hits. :/ That’s why I keep returning to DB!! It’s such a relief to know you all exist, to spazz with.

@beffels That’s so cool! I have no siblings, so I have to fall back on le friend circle! :/ My IRL pals don’t seem to trust my recommendations enough, sadly, or they’re still trying to overcome that one-inch high barrier of subtitles. I don’t know. *sniff* But I’m happy to have found all of you 🙂

I also think FoS is my best KDramas I ever watched so everyone would enjoy it as well but nah.
Maybe When the Camellia Blooms is okay for introduction because it has fresh concept, or not? I don’t know lol.

So disappointing, right? Maybe I should convince my friend to try Stranger too 😂 one more try…

Yes, you should! Stranger can easily hold its own amongst foreign crime thrillers, and I think that’s why my friend also liked it. It’s – superficially at least – not particularly Korean in sensibility, and has a universal appeal.
