In similar situation, I would have slapped or at least scowled at the guy for asking such a dumb question at the most crucial time. That very question is a downright mood kill in my dictionary.
Or I would have given this sarcastic reply : I am blushing cause I was thinking how to murder you for asking this dumb question.
