Oh I’m with you on this! I find the sounds of Kpop too “clean” and polished, for lack of better words. K.indie is much more raw and more interesting to me as a listener. And there’s a lot of variety to cater to different tastes!
I think “clean” is an understatement. And even compared to Western pop, Kpop song structure and trends are set in Biblical stone. But I do really like their video production, so I watch a bunch of videos for ideas. But you watch enough videos the songs kinda just start to blend into each other.
That’s true. I’ve read/watched some of these explainers about Kpop song. structures, and that in itself is quite fascinating. I’m not much of a MV watcher, so I focus on the sound rather than the visuals. But you’re right – after a point, they all look the same, just like the sound.

Not really a pop fan so Kpop really doesn’t do anything for me. But I’ve been getting into Korean Indie music and it’s pretty great.
