Also, as a soon-to-be Psychology graduate, it has been very interesting to see how the show has explored the “causes” of the different mental illnesses of our patients.
In this particular episode, I thought linking child abuse & Dissociative Identity Disorder a.k.a Multiple Personality Disorder came together to tell a poignant story. I can at least see that they’ve done some basic research on each disorder they portray (even though I don’t like everything about how they portray mental illness in this show)
Anyways, the story was well-told but made me mad. This topic always triggers me even though I have no experience of it or know anyone who has. There are a lot of despicable people in this world, but I think child abusers have their own special hell.

I was highly intrigued by a movie named “Sybil” while I was studying and my psy prof recommended. It was a great movie depicting DID. I’m also reading a book titled “The Minds of Billy Milligan”. Both are very interesting and brought us through the minds of someone with DID. You can check it out if you have the time!
