I can never decide on how I feel about Lee Seung-gi. On the one hand, he’s smart, funny, and good-looking. On the other hand, he has this weird vibe about him, whereby it always seems like he’s overprepared as well as a bit distant. In a word, he reminds me of a model schoolboy or an admired senpai/sunbae, and I don’t know how I feel about that.

He’s too perfect that he may seem intimating and untouchable at times. <3

I always find him aloof for some reason. Perhaps it’s inexplicable, but that’s my perception of him. I would never describe him as a person I find cute, adorable, warm, loving, etc., notwithstanding that I think he’s charismatic, well-mannered, and socially well-adjusted.

When he was younger (pre-enlistment) he seems pretty cute and adorable. Now, he’s much more composed. 😀

(Disclaimer, I’m a fan 😄) I can definitely see the model student thing. He strikes me as the kind of person who wants to be the best at everything and is annoyed when they are not (but he can’t show it because his professional persona is super nice guy).

It’s not a horrible trait to be honest. It’s actually a pretty good trait! It’s just a trait that ordinarily makes me anxious in real life when I notice it in other people, especially if they’re people with whom I have to work or interact frequently.

I find it depends on the person – some overachievers I’ve worked with always feel like they’re judging you for not taking things as intensely as they are, and others are just as overachieve-y but manage to be also nice to be around 🤷‍♀️

    What brought this musing? 😅

I was watching a recent episode of Master in the House and it came to mind (again).

His tv persona just generally feels very carefully crafted and polished and well composed to me. Maybe thats why he feels distant, because i feel like hes very controlled and hes only showing you what he wants you to see. Its very “clean”.

I dont blame him, considering everything, and i think it actually works very well for being a variety show host.

I agree with this. This is also part of what creates the “model schoolboy” feeling.

Saw him first in 2D1N. I loved the show’s 3rd season so watched the 1st season too. Loved him as the maknae member of the show. He was great in the show it too. But when I decided to watch Gumiho I just couldn’t take his acting seriously. Later on, I completed Hwayugi and found him to be a perfect match for the eccentric role. Liked the drama. Then vagabond happened and I am meh about actor Seung Gi once again -_-

I haven’t watched any of his dramas! I’m only really familiar with his variety work.

You should watch some! They’re mostly ok rather than great – I actually really like my girlfriend is a gumiho, it’s very cute (if old, the styling is …interesting) .

I really tried my best to watch gumiho. But his acting was just not…. *Smh* oh I forgot I watched and liked king2heart. It was a decent watch. This just made me realize LSG really performs well when the role is cocky/mischievous/arrogant.

If you didn’t like Gumiho you’d definitely not like Shining Inheritance (/Brilliant Legacy) 😄 I’m watching it with my sister now and ….he’s improved since back then 😂 I haven’t seen King2hearts yet but I have heard that it’s decent.

It was tough for me to watch him as an actor after all the ‘Seungiiiyyyaaaa’ screams from Kang Ho Dong and all his sloppiness from 2D1N

His acting is very different from his tv persona! he feels a lot more human and intense. Ive seen all of his shows, but would only recommend the king 2 hearts (in which he became really outstandingly good in my opinion though i understand it may not be everyones cup of tea), because while i think lee seunggi just gets better every year, the dramas he picks… do not.

Funny that he matches well with his Hwayugi’s errant, misbehaving character
