I gave it a try and it was just the type of show I needed right now
nothing groundbreaking, but I love the leads : the female lead has one of the brightest smile I’ve seen 😊 and the male lead is a new fav’ 🤩,
love how an easy watch it is, I caught up all subbed eps 😅 but also the raw ones 😆, I’m at ep20 already 🙃
(funny though it’s so simple that watching w/o subs wasn’t that difficult 😂…even more since the subs were terrible ones 🤐)

    I’m not sure how I’m feeling about Ancient China dramas lately… I tried “The Romance of Tiger and Rose” because it was so loved by the Beanies here when everyone was live-watching it, but when I tried it (though, not live-watching), I couldn’t even get through Episode 1…. It’s been about a month now since I tried, and Episode 1 is STILL on hold

      Watching The Sleepless Princess wasn’t planned at all, since I’m supposed to be on summer break from dramas…but turns out it’s been nearly 2 months since I’ve watched a historical C-drama and I just love the costumes so it played a big part in binge watching those past few days ^^’.

      I’ve put Tiger and Rose on my to-watch list , maybe for next month, don’t know, but also kinda don’t feel the urge to watch it, don’t know why (too much hype ? already seen lots of spoilers on the fanwall ?…)

      I think I might go with either “Twenty Your Life On” or “Nothing But Thirty” afterwards according to AvenueX’s reviews and the topics of those dramas (so modern dramas ^^’).

      You can take a break from historical dramas, then try again Tiger and Rose or another one, as for me I needed that break since I watched many of them earlier this year ^^’.

        Yea, I don’t know what will be the next Chinese historical drama that catches my attention 🤷🏻‍♀️ So I guess a break from that genre is definitely happening 😅

        I’m thinking of starting the modern drama “White War”— my friend is currently watching it and has become obsessed and she’s been sending me messages, trying to get me to start 😂😅
        I think it’s a collaboration production between Hong Kong and China, because a lot of the cast members are actually from Hong Kong (with some guest roles are actor/actresses from Mainland China), it’s shot in Hong Kong, the setting of the story is Hong Kong, BUT its being broadcasted by Mainland China and IN China as well, and by
        Chinese company Tencent (the same one that broadcasted “The Untamed)

          give “White War” a try, if it’s a good one, you already know someone watching it so you could discuss about it 😉
          hoping the censorship won’t affect the drama story and quality !

        Lots of discord beanies are loving Nothing But 30 but a couple tried and wasn’t really into Twenty Your Life On (I’ve not seen either but plant to see NB30). But right now we are all in love with Go Ahead. I highly suggest Go Ahead. It’s such a lovely drama❤️

          Yea, I’ve heard great things about “Go Ahead”…. The Chinese really know how to do family dramas right 👌🏻👌🏻☺️☺️

          I’m watching Twenty your life on and it’s totally working for me. It is actually one of the more realistic portrayal of 20 somethings branching out from university to work while being fun and thought provoking at the same time. It isn’t groundbreaking but I’m loving the lessons each episode gives and how naturally the girls are progressing to work life rather than making them a superwomen who can deal with everything or a candy who can’t do anything right. I can’t access nothing but 30 rn but I totally plan to watch Go ahead. It airs daily though and it’s hard to catch up even if only 7 episodes are available 😅

            when I watched AvenueX’s video and how she described the relationship and how intertwined there are, I thought it’s not the type of show for everyone but I totally can see me enjoy watching it, even more if it’s slow paced 🙂

    I’ve been wanting to see this but heard the subs was terrible. So I was holding off in the hopes the subs would improve with time😕 I always get sad when I see a drama is on MGTV because their subs are usually really slow or terrible (machine translated).

      The first eps subs are “normal” but around ep10-14 right now it’s horrible :
      “prince” translated as “king”, then when the prince is calling his sister (let’s say “royal sister”) it’s translated as “emperor’s sister” (but that would be his aunt lololol)

        the characters’ names are also translated which is laughable “XingChen” as Stars and “ChuYue” as First Month , the sentences are weird x)

        I also heard the timing was off. So I’m planning to wait for the drama to be done and hopefully all these subbing issues get fixed. I hope they fix them 😭

      read above the examples I gave to Trin Jiejie , it’s so horrible that I didn’t care at one point…and now waiting for new ep since I watch it raw x)

      raw is easy : example with this scene where the princess disguised as a bad guy, plays along counting then giving a fake name before getting discovered , I laughed a lot : no subs needed x)

      Don’t worry Azzo, I’m fine , just a little busy (and lazy to post sorry ^^’).

      I’ve checked db on weekends and just upvoting or commenting that doesn’t show on my wall, but also wasn’t in the mood to make a post (despite having several funny things I’ve seen).
      In a nutshell, still working, trying to watch one ep per day (seems so little compared to lockdown time ^^’) but also doing big tidy-up (a little bit everyday, it’s insane how time consuming it is compared to things done) and sport (one kilo lost yay (but seriously all the efforts it takes to lose that O_o )) .
      was glad to read your post earlier 🙂 , now I really should log out and gotta sleep , will log in quickly tomorrow night.
      hoping you’re all right (seems like with your post =P)

        Oh, good! I’m just not used to seeing you this inactive.. also, no need to apologize, you have your own personal life and that should always be your priority over DB, totally understand that!

        How’s the Covid19 situation over there? We’re working too, some days I go to the office and some days I’m working from home, planning to take two weeks off for the wedding and all.. hope they agree, they’ve not been the nicest these days!

        Oh, wow! That is such an accomplishment!! All the hard work will pay off, trust me, I know (Did I ever tell you my weight-loss story? No? Maybe I’ll tell it to you one day 😂).

        Hope you got a good night’s sleep. And don’t worry about me, I’m good, really happy these days.. though I kind of feel guilty about it with everything that’s been happening around the world.. can’t help it, I’m weird!

          Covid19 1st wave was in March/May then lockdown shows results in June . However July/August being the 2 months summer vacation time : many people behaved like “oh I’m tired of it, now it’s holiday let’s just enjoy and we’ll see what’ll happen” (*sigh*)
          so now number of cases are increasing exponentially , if this goes on, we’ll have 2nd wave in late Sept/October -_- . Also this week it’s school year start with strict health protocol, same for companies : we have to keep the mask all day long even if one meter distance is observed (…but I kinda already did that so I’m totally ok with it ^^’).
          The “still working” of my previous message could be read as :
          a) didn’t take vacation, just a few days off here and there (explains being busy)
          b) thankful that I’m still working since news show often companies plan to cut down staff (e.g. aeronautic industry with Airbus and its numerous subcontractors)
          Like you, I’m alternating between working from home and going to the office during the week. It’ll stay like that for Sept. at least, then it’ll depend on how the situation evolves.

            People here are acting the same, summer is “the beach” month and since all the beaches are open they are so crowded and people don’t seem to care about any precautions except masks (mandatory, they’ll be fined!). We’ve been too careful but you just never know!

            Yes sadly a lot of small companies had to shut down and people lost their only income, we should really be glad we still have work!

            Yes, so overweight, my weight-loss journey involved a lot of crying and cursing and losing motivation then getting back at it again! I still workout regularly, to maintain the weight and I still carry my cheeks, they’re here to stay 😂
