This time around I binged Ex Girlfriend’s club and enjoyed it immensely🌟. It’s such a great watch, with a perfect balance between romance and comedy. It’s exactly the kind of romcom I have been looking for and the kind of light and cute watch I needed after the dark and gritty “Watcher”. It definitely tops my romcom list, second only to weightlifting fairy.
There was so much chemistry between Song Ji Hyo and Byun Yo Han🤩. Loved how their relationship progressed.
Also love the reluctant, grudging friendship that forms between the ex girlfriends. Despite it being literally the “Ex Girlfriend’s club”, their friendship also passes the Bechdel test!
The ex girlfriends could have easily become annoying typical ex’s but their characters were so much more!
It’s a shame honestly that it got such low ratings (it definitely deserved more) but I’m glad the epsiodes were cut down to 12 because 12 was perfect for it (otherwise they probly would have dragged the love triangle with director Jo).
On the whole I would definitely recommend this to everyone (don’t judge it from its premier week which I admit was a bit rocky however from there on out it only gets better). It’s a very underrated show and deserves more love. I also want to thank @snarkyjellyfish for giving it a shout out during the 30 day drama challenge because if she hadn’t I would have forever remained ignorant of its existence which honestly would have been a shame.
Inserting the incredibly cheerful, fun and uplifting song from its OST. Enjoy🎉🎊
What a delightful review, and what a peppy song! This is on my long watchlist! I might just push it up based on your note 🙂 I think Byun Yo Han is so underused in kdramaland – he was such a scene stealer in Misaeng!
Yayy to pushing it up on the watch list😆. Also agreed about Byun Yo Han, he was great in misaeng and he was great here too. His character was both endearing and charming and suited him so well 🌟
Thanks for sharing this! It’s been on my to watch list for so long and your review is so nice!
Problem is it’s not available on Viki in my region (oh, what a surprise! So I’ll have to be creative 🤷🏼♀️
Same problem haha. Kdramaland demands a lot from us fans. I wonder why these folks aren’t capitalizing and giving us legitimate ways to view this content :/ it’s so frustrating. I’d happily pay for quality stuff!
Yay! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. It really is an underrated gem. I loved the Exes in and how the show never really strayed from being about women. I loved that all of them were competent and smart, and it was great to see such a variety of women without ever degrading any one of their choices.
It also remains as one of my favorite OSTs ever, and there’s one song which I think went unreleased due to the cut but which I love and have literally spent years searching for.
I guess it wad because it was so underappreciated with the domestic population but even the Wikipedia page doesn’t have a list of OSTs for it when it usually does for every kdrama 😕
