      thank you @katakwasabi – since we put up that notice, the perpetrator has responded, but does not think that they are in any wrong. rather, they seem to be of the impression that this information ought to be “shared”, since no one has any right to the addresses. but it’s not even about that, tbh. it completely belittles all the effort that’s gone into searching for the locations, many from scratch. there’s not much we can do at the moment, but we are looking at certain internal measures that might prevent a similar case in future. we understand that they’ve been stealing from other sites too! they simply have some nerve. appreciate your kind thoughts ❤️

        Maybe you can team up with other sites they’ve plagiarized? I’m hoping that something helps.

          yes, that’s something i hope we can look into. cos obviously the more voices there are, the louder the discontent would be, and hopefully it will put them out of ‘business’. they even have a ‘donate’ button, claimed to be for the people helping behind the scenes. but i think we’re one of those ‘invisible’ people and not getting anything out of it. not that this was the point to begin with! argh! 😡

        Is there any way we can report their site for something that would eventually shut it down? Or place a notice in your site about their impostor or something.

        My heart breaks for your team since gathering those esp locations that are new takes time and effort.

      thank you @neener ❤️ our site has been running (it wasn’t down, save for the tech issue we had in July) and our data is intact. the issue is that this other site is likely to have downloaded and copied our data for their own site, and that what angers us at KDL – and as seen in this thread, many of you too 🥺 see my response to Katakwasabi on the perpetrator’s (non)response.

        Argh so frustrating. Going forward, I suppose you can use some kind of copy-protect measures to prevent machine-lifting of content. Not just for the website, but also for all of your soc-med presence (e.g., RSS feeds should not contain full text – which then becomes easily copiable, etc.). You should be able to claim copyright protection over original photographs and text anyway, and try and report them to their host server on those grounds. I’m sure the host will have some policies on this. Get good legal advice! All the best.

      thank you @sirena ❤️ well – tbh with location addresses, it could be quite hard to prove that they were stolen from us. am trying to build a case on any original content they may have lifted, so we shall see how that goes.

      @marcusnyc20 :((( sigh. so are we tbh. we’ve faced many plagiarism situations over the last 3 years but none have been as blatant and shameless as this. and thank you. i don’t know how much we can really do but am trying to build a case for original content, so we shall see.

    Oh no @michh!!! Have you talked to a copyright attorney? I have a friend who goes through this periodically with her website. It might be good to consult one if you can find a local person who’s reasonable.

      @ndlessjoie ❤️ thanks my dear. no – we’ve not talked to any legal people just yet, but also not sure how much it can help. will see if we have anyone in our circles whom we can talk to! trying to start small, like building a case on reporting original content and taking it from there.

    Oh no, that truly is unthinkable 😮 I’m so sorry that this has happened to you guys after all your hard work which we have enjoyed so much. Ugh, it’s SO UNFAIR. Why can’t people just live right??? I wish you all the best in getting back at them (sorry, unlike in a kdrama I am unable to think up a good “sting” operation). 🤬🤬🤬

      @bbstl you’re here!! ❤️ was wondering if this would be able to reach you somehow 😫 it is extremely selfish, and even if they’re trying to reach out to the French k-drama community… really, that’s just not the way to do it. the most incredible thing was that we had NEVER given our consent, not at all, and yet they took our ‘silence’ as consent? or they just went ahead with it thinking that the info should just be “free” for all? wow. they really have the nerve. and thank you – trying to pick the battles to see which way we can strike without them knowing.

        In ref what you have consented to, maybe you can make your copyright license / policy clearer and more visible on your site – whether it is copiable with attribution, or whatever else you choose. You might have already done this. If so, please ignore this comment 🙂
