With a name like Hymn of Death, I kind of knew what I was getting into, but also not really. I knew that it was going to be tragic, but I didn’t know how. Still, I personally found it to be really good.
I also didn’t know that it was based on a true story. Since it’s short, it was the perfect thing to watch over the weekend. I have seen many Lee Jong-suk dramas, but I was really impressed with him here! Shin Hye-sun was also great as always! Right after, I did a rewatch of to.Jenny since I needed something short and sweet, but still I kept thinking about it. It might just push me to watch Romance Is A Bonus Book. I haven’t been able to pick up a drama since Stranger 2 ended because I have been really busy and stressed that I don’t want to pick something that I might not end up liking halfway. That’s why I’m counting on Beanie reviews to see what to pick up next:) I’m not good at reviewing dramas, but Beanies are!! So I look forward to reading all the fan posts and make my choice then!
“Hymn Of Death” is actually quite good!! I remember watching it when it first came out on Netflix 👌🏻 One thing I will say, though, is that I found the second half quite disconnected from the first half and the vibe felt quite different, as if they switched scriptwriters halfway thru
I felt the same way! I really liked the beginning too and then I guess because of the subject matter and what was going to happen, it felt different. Still good though!
I enjoyed Romance is a Bonus Book. I loved seeing Lee Na-young (and even before I knew who she was married to), but most of all I loved all the background details about publishing. Also the workplace was really interesting. Then of top of that you have Lee Jong-suk.
I got my cousin to watch Crash Landing but I didn’t think she would watch any more dramas. Turns out, that she still does!!! And she watched RIABB so I kind of want to watch it so we can talk about it lol😅
I know. It’s all too raw in a way. I suspect the collective despair was about the continuing Japanese occupation and a loss of hope for the future. Suicide was a protest. (Not to be recommended). But her voice!!!

Did you listen to the actual Yun Sim-deok sing?

There was a death cult amongst young people at the time. It’s a stunner.
