I know, right?! I had zero expectations for this show — it wasn’t on my radar at all until last week, when it came out, and I was iffy about the premise — but it has really impressed me with its first three episodes. I’m just hoping the show continues to do what is clearly working for it.
Ep 3 was so fantastic!, I almost don’t want to watch ep4 for fear of being disappointed!
And like you, this took me totally by surprise too. It wasn’t even on my watchlist. The posters and teasers were so meh, it did not make me want to watch at all. The first 3 eps have been so predictable but also so delightful!
If they keep this up (and I hope they do!), I see it heading in the direction of a good old-fashioned rom-com (with the startup/tech setting being the only indicator of it being set in the present). It’s got all the plotlines in order – mistaken identity, pen pals, and love letters. The angel (investor) in disguise. The benevolent grandmother. The evil stepdad. I’m loving it!

Okay, I am so totally on board with Start-up. Don’t disappoint me, show! You’ve built up my expectations so much with these past three episodes.
