Yea, cancel culture is TOXIC T..T

What frustrates me is that these K-Netz who promote such a toxic cancel culture is that they don’t even take the time to do a little research before they go about writing off something or someone.

In this particular case, there needs to be an understanding that when you work in Mainland China, there’s an unspoken rule that at some point in time, you’re going to have to write a post– most likely on your SNS, because China understands the power of the internet– promoting the country, regardless of what your post says, as it’s the country’s way to promote and to show other countries a form of unity. If you do not do it or stay quiet for too long before doing it, the GOVERNMENT will be the one to cancel you. You don’t want that. No no no. So you post, regardless of your own personal thoughts and feelings. You post regardless if you do/don’t agree with China’s politics. You post regardless if you personally–in your heart of hearts–like or hate the situation T…T
People should have noticed this when celebs from Taiwan started to work in Mainland China and started to post China-centric posts on their SNS, too, because out of ALL the places in the world, the country that’s most anti-China all these years has been Taiwan.

If people were really paying attention, they would have also noticed that celebrities from HK have also stopped all politically charged posts going against China on their SNS ever since the new policies have been imposed onto HK by Mainland China, and it is only a matter of time when they will also be forced to put something out on their SNS to promote HK as being a part of Mainland China.

I’d have to watch it again, but on DKDK they mention knowing what it means when they all post the same thing. But were also upset that it seemed like China was trying to re write South Korean history and then with certain idols making a living in South Korea.
But then at the same time China is such a huge economic power. This happening right after the whole BTS thing it will be interesting to see what happens, especially since it mostly seems centered around the entertainment sector.

          I will say this:
BTS’ speech at that event is the thing that prompted all of this (Oy vey!!! I do not want to be in the shoes of the speech writer right now). Yet, the people who choose to carry on being toxic is another thing. People who also didn’t consider the deeper context of BTS’ speech (South Korea centric celebrating a South Korean event) but choose to pick it apart and take it out of the context that it needs to be in (so, out of the boundaries of SOUTH Korea) is also something …
